Scar a planet

Song in the background played for the umpteen hundredth time through his cockpit's interior speakers. Did Racket notice? ........what? A female name on the holopad in front of his steering enticed him. A friend of a friend had known a guy and they expected thirty credits for the information he was now staring at. Guys cronmail account wasn't as hack proof as guy thought. Lots of info attached. Needless to say Racket's bank account was topped off with a few mill credits and he had found that holes were burning his pockets.

Index finger touched the screen. Message bar crossed the screen twice; Sent and Done. An unlit cig between his left hands middle and index finger found the touch of his lips and lick of a flame. Smoke rolled in while stress rolled out. Life was hard and someone deserved to be relieved from that burden.

Maelion did not sleep, and so when the message arrived she was attending to matters on Corellia. She took a second to consider the offer. She had just such a device, a Anti-Matter Bomb acquired during her partner's raid on a Sith storage vault. The weapon was exceptionally dangerous; so dangerous it was stashed safely on an uninhabited moon for safe-keeping. Maelion had considered using the weapon for her own ends, but if someone else used it, all the better for her.

I have such a device. Bring your payment to the following astro-coordinates. Come alone and the device is yours for the specified price.
She sent the coordinates of the uninhabited moon. Of course Maelion would be there, but she'd be waiting in orbit with the Lightbringer which was a cloaking ship able to avoid detection. It wasn't that she didn't trust...well actually it was. She trusted no one except Moira.

Moira would be likewise be waiting aboard the Lightbringer, the crowning achievement of relentless machine drive and the cooperation of useful organic allies. Trust was good, control was better. She trusted Maelion because...she was like her. An anti-matter bomb was a tremendously useful, devastating tool, perfect for wiping out a multitude of organic life forms, acquiring it during the raid had been a boon.

HRDs were immune to the radiation it produced after all. So were zombies for that matter. Doubtless the furry organic who was their business partner, should they come to a satisfactory arrangement, would find use for it that involved a great deal of destruction, given his track record and love for explosions.

A small *ding* went off as the message scrolled across the top of the three Holoscreens.

Heading was attached and scanned to tracker. Asteroids specified lit up on the holoscreen showing him the scan of the current coordinates. A simple hack on multiple hundreds of satellites throughout the galaxy with a simple, 2 inch by 2 inch black boxed, splice hidden within the circuit board of each gave him an eagle eye of the Galaxy thanks to the main corporations. Oh the things he did with his free time. Government equipment was risky and received maintenance more often now a days thanks to the galactic bear hug everyone liked to call peace. Throttle down, cig lit, long trip started without another passing second.
The hours were used trying to gain for his own benefit. Nothing to gain. The private benefactor was as thorough as himself. Any known pictures or information had been covered or erased. No one erased every detail from every file. The person had either some skill or connections on multiple levels. A smart man knew to fear both answers equally. Looking over the screens again at the sector showed empty skies. No trap. Traps sucked. Smelled. He lurched backwards in his second bracing before the ship lurched into the moons gravitational pull out of hyperdrive. A huge moon hung in the distance while Racket brought the ship in closer into orbit. Controlled mindless tapping of his fingers hit the screens while steering was handled. Soon his ship was moving at a smooth 30 thousand kilos per. All he had to do now was wait for the supplier so he could ghost.

It was agreed that Maelion would take a small transport and appear in space before the buyer. Unknown to the buyer though the Lightbringer was stealthed and ready to fire if any hostile moves were made. Moira would stay on board and be ready to spring into action if needed.

And so Maelion’s transport, a small six person affair like the old Lambda class ships of centuries past, appeared from around the curve of the moon.

“Purchaser, have you brought the specified amount of credits?” Maelion hailed @[member="Racket"] as she stopped in space a few kilometres away. If he did she would take possession of the cash and give him the coordinates to the moon’s surface where he could retrieve the bomb.

Moving towards him around the crest of white moon rock was a small ship. Not too fast. Right size for small crew. The supplier had arrived. Moving closer was when the message came through over the speakers in his cockpit. Sexy lady voice.
“Purchaser, have you brought the specified amount of credits?”
"Something better. The encrypted code to a non traceable account on a phantom stick."
Finger landed on a button sending the projectile he had stored in the release hatch out into the vacuum of space. Radars, weapons, and scanners had been attached to his ship since they had rounded the moons bend. Fun toys had alerted him of so within the cock pit. She'd call it back to the ship with their tractor beams taking less than four minutes in all and never breaking a sweat. Or she'd act like he had just sent the phantom stick to it's doom and refuse to do business. Eyes widened during the wait to see how the next few minutes went.

At first Maelion suspected that the buyer was launching a torpedo or mine, but then the contents became known and Maelion tractored them aboard. Inside the sealed container was the credit chip. A quick examination revealed it had what the buyer had specified.
“Purchaser, I am transmitting the coordinate for the location of the item on the moon below. You will find the item sealed in an airtight container. Be advised, the device is over 200kg.”

With that she closed the link and began to turn away. To Racket it would appear as though the shuttle would suddenly vanish after a short distance. Space would ripple and then Racket would be truly alone with his weapon of chaos.

The shuttle bearing Maelion along with the credit chip would dock on the Lightbringer, still cloaked and thus invisible to their buyer. Moira had been observing the scene from the bridge of the stealth frigate. Likewise her first instinct had been to presume that their client had unleashed a torpedo, but the machine was patient and not prone to push the firing button in a stint as an overreaction.

Space rippled and within one moment the vessel was gone, vanishing back into the depths of hyperspace, seemingly having never been there in the first place, leaving Racket alone to retrieve his weapon of doom and unleash chaos, death and destruction for whatever purpose he had in mind. Hopefully it would be suitably explosive and cause excess collateral damage. Business successfully concluded, profits secured for Archangel, a weapon of mass destruction let loose and sold to an enterprising client. It was always a pleasure to aid in the democratisation of fear, terror and the proliferation of dangerous weapons, and to be lucratively paid for it.
