A small repuslor tank for infantry support in the tight streets of ecumenopolis planets. While the turret and frontal armor is rather thick, the rest of the vehicle is only rated for heavy infantry weapons and the main repulsor coils are exposed under the rear of the vehicle to make room in the interior for crew and passengers. Inside, there’s room for the three crew, a driver, gunner, and commander, and up to six passengers in cramped quarters. For offense, the Scamander mounts a hefty particle cannon and a coaxial light laser on its turret and a pintle mounted blaster for the commander’s hatch.
A command variant exchanges the passenger seating for a com-scan station and an interactive holographic control interphase, making room for a unit commander and a comms officer. There are also field ambulance and utility versions that strip out the rear and enlarges the rear hatch. All versions can equip slat armor cages or ERA to stave off shaped charges and impact warheads.
Billed as an urban combat speeder, the Scamander IFV works fine wherever a commander needs half a dozen guys to deploy, hold a point, go scouting, or simply maintain a presence. Be it on the high plains, sandy desert, frozen tundra, or muggy jungle, the Scamander adapts. And the troops inside will too with the inbuilt climate control and automatically adapting exterior camouflage patterns.
