OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

Intent: To sub a pair of cool-looking sneaky glasses for Visanj T'shkali
Canon Link(s):
Primary Source: Solarium glasteel

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Manufacturer: Visanj T’shkali
Affiliation: Visanj T’shkali
Model: SBG-001 EyeSpy Glasses
Modularity: No
Production: Unique
Material: Ballistic-grade solarium glasteel, desh-terenthium alloy, rubber coating.

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Computer Interface Visor uses augmented reality to translate complex computer algorithms and code into easy-to-understand symbols and words when active, making slicing, coding, and interacting with programming used in droids, ships, vehicles, computers, and other systems much more simplified.
  • Aural Amplifiers combine with active noise cancellation (ANC) technology to allow the user to hear whispered conversations at distances up to 20m, while reducing background noise, white noise, etc. for improved clarity. Uses bone-conduction hearing technologies, eliminating obvious earbuds or headphones, maintaining low-profile eavesdropping capability.
  • Ballistic-grade polarizing lenses offer protection against debris and other particles/projectiles and account for incredible durability against rough use, wear, and damage. Since made with solarium glasteel, these thin lenses provide some small measure of protection against blasters and flash to the eyes as well as collect light energy - making the unit self-powered.
  • Anti-fog and moisture-beading coating on lenses allows vision to remain unobstructed.
  • Augmented reality HUD provides near-real time information data-streaming. An encrypted wireless connection to Visanj's comlink implant network provides access to HoloNet, communications, etc. With a simple touch control to the small capture button located on the frames' right side, Visanj can capture a holo-image, using the integrated micro-camera/recorder. This will in turn send the image to a database on her on ship, where it can be compared and the contents identified and pertinent information returned quickly.
  • The micro-camera and microphone can capture and record up to 120 standard minutes of digital audio/visual recordings, which can be transmitted over the encrypted wireless commlink connection or played back using touch controls.
  • Designed to be worn together with Babel Protocol Assistant.
  • Built-in DNA Tracer-Tracking and low-grade weapons scanner.
STRENGTHS:
  • Offers ability to take and record up to 120 minutes of audio/visual data, which can be securely transmitted or played back later.
  • Allows augmented reality HUD to provide a host of data, including image capture-specific data ranging from systems operation to identifying flora and fauna, even to receiving real-time GPS directions and traffic information.
  • Encrypted wireless connectivity to Visanj's cybernetic commlink network.
  • DNA tracer allows tracking of a specific individual using DNA traces.
  • Low-Grade weapons detector will alert her to possible nearby powered weapons up to 5m.
  • Able to eavesdrop on conversations up to 20m away using aural amplifiers and active noise-cancellation technology.
  • Computer interface visor makes slicing and other computer applications easier and faster.
  • System is self-powered.
  • Glasses are stylish, lightweight, durable (shock & break resistant / waterproof) and anti-fog / water-shedding lenses provide decent but only slightly better than average ballistic protection, making them versatile yet low-profile to use.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Aural amplification and noise-cancelling has maximum range of 20m, and will not entirely eliminate background noise, white noise, etc.
  • Weapons detector has limited range and capability, only detecting powered weapons within 5m maximum range. Cannot penetrate most concealment measures, i.e. baffleweave, reflec, etc.
  • DNA tracer requires roughly five minutes to program a single mark, and can only hold programming for that mark alone. Must be reprogrammed for every new mark.
  • Maximum 120 minutes of recording time is lowered if numerous still images are also maintained on file.
  • Cannot operate computer interface visor, weapons detector, DNA tracing, or real-time data streaming to HUD simultaneously; one function must be chosen at the sake of others. (Ex.: Visanj cannot receive GPS information and use weapons detector at same time.)
  • Glasses are resilient, not indestructible. They can be crushed or broken. Resistant to water and shock, they are not meant to be submerged or beaten with hammers.
  • Keyed specifically to Visanj's cybernetic network, they can only be used by her and pose risk for an elite slicer to use them as 'back door' into her cyber-net; appropriate cautions must be taken when using them, depending on the feature(s) being used.
DESCRIPTION

Designed to be worn alongside the Babel Protocol Assistant, the EyeSpy Glasses are lightweight, highly durable, self-powered, and stylish glasses which offer a variety of benefits to Visanj in her work. Beginning with an integrated computer interface visor and augmented reality HUD, they can enable slicing and other computer interactions much more smoothly and quickly, translating complex coding and algorithms into simple, easy-to-understand words and symbols.

Further, the glasses can use the built-in microphone/micro-camera to capture an image or recording, up to 120 standard minutes in length, which can be played back later or else transmitted using a wireless connection to her cybernetic encrypted commlink network. Captured images can be sent to a database in her ship's computer, where it compared and once identified, pertinent information is returned via the HUD. For example, Visanj can take an image capture of a particular make and model of speeder, and once identified, the HUD will display schematics and operating information, enabling her to operate the speeder. The information does not make her an expert, but merely provides familiarity with design and operation. This can also be used to identify flora and fauna, persons, landmarks, etc., provided they are in the database already. Likewise, she can receive real-time information on traffic, GPS directions, etc.

A built-in DNA tracer-tracking system allows her to track DNA traces for a single individual. This must be pre-programmed, and programming an individual mark can take up to five minutes' time. The glasses also have a short-range (5m max.) weapon detector, which scans for weapons power cells in close proximity to her, alerting her to their approximate location via the HUD. This will not work on non-powered weapons, but blasters, vibroblades, lightsabers, etc. can be spotted if not concealed, as through baffleweave fabrics or similar means of avoiding detection.

Finally, aural amplifiers coupled with active noise-cancellation technology enable her to eavesdrop on conversations, even those whispered, up to 20m away with reasonable clarity. It won't eliminate all noise, but will improve overall clarity and definition.
