  • Restricted Missions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Cat’s Paw Armory
  • Model: SB-01
  • Affiliation: Closed-Market
  • Modularity: None
  • Production: Mass Produced
  • Material: Electronic components, duraplast casing
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Sensor Baffle
  • Size: Small
  • Weight: Average
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Able to reduce the standard sensor returns of the wearer
Strengths:
  • Reduces the sensor returns of the wearer, reducing the range at which the wearer can be detected by standard sensors (RADAR, LIDAR, SONAR, etc)
Weaknesses:
  • Any active EM emission from the wearer can reduce the effectiveness. Any active sensors emanating from the wearer, communication broadcasts, etc will deteriorate the effectiveness, with the larger the EM emission causing a larger disruption.
DESCRIPTION
The SB-01 Sensor Baffle was conceived of as an aid for special forces operators to be able to move more freely behind enemy lines without having to go entirely low tech in both arms and armor. The baffle’s design creates a bubble around the wearer, sampling both the passive EM signature of the wearer and the EM background around the wearer and establishing the same EM background within the bubble as outside, only minus the wearers passive EM signature. This system fools sensor systems designed to detect objects using active and passive EM scanning (detecting different rebounds of various parts of the EM spectrum based on what is there). It cannot, however, fool optical sensors (including Mark 1 Eyeballs) as this device does not cloak the target in a fashion similar to Stygium or Hibridium cloaks. It also will have reduced effectiveness if the wearer is producing active EM emissions. While laser linked communication over a short distance may not disrupt the system much, anything that pushes an active EM signature from within the bubble to outside the bubble is not protected by this system, and increases the chances of detection. Also, each device must be calibrated to the wearer, making it useful for that wearer alone until it has been re-calibrated. This makes each field unique, and unable to link with other fields.

Is it just closed market to the manufacturer?
It is closed per the definition in the template.

Closed-Market (Any character can use this if they have explicit permission through, for example, a marketplace purchase)
