OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
• Intent: To create an Eldorai polearm to supplement the Sarix in combat. This weapon, like the Sarix, is an inferior version of a light weapon which trades extensive cutting power and speed for weight and in this case reach.
• Image Source: Here. From The Last Jedi Movie.
• Canon Link: Based on the canon Vibro Voulge.
• Restricted Missions: N/A
• Primary Source: Upgrade of the original Sarzmigar. Related to the Sarix.
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
• Manufacturer: Firemane Industries & Technology, contracted by the Eldorai.
• Model: S2b
• Affiliation: Closed-Market Order of Fire, Eldorai, Firemane or approved marketplace purchases only.
• Modularity: The iconography and decorations can be changed. The hue of the energy shroud can be altered by changing the powering crystals.
• Production: Minor
• Material: Durasteel, energy crystal, electronics.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
• Classification: Polearm
• Size: Very Large
• Weight: Heavy
SPECIAL FEATURES
• Can parry lightsabres.
• Has superior reach, about 1.8 metres.
• Can be used in one hand like a spear with a shield, or two hands as a pike/halberd.
• If unpowered, the head can be used as a regular durasteel polearm.
Strengths:
• Shroud. The energy shroud covering the blade and top half of the shaft grants it some of the properties of a lightsabre. The Sarzmigar can cut and pierce materials similar to, but not to the same extent as a lightsabre.
• Weight. The weight and mass of the Sarzmigar gives it greater kinetic energy in combat. A strong two-handed slash allows the user to put more strength into the blow, potentially knocking an opponent or their weapon aside. This can also increase penetration on a slash by using the kinetic weight of the blade and shaft behind a hack.
• Reach. The Sarzmigar has superior reach, able to easily outdistance a lightsabre or virtually any other melee weapon. This ability to strike an enemy and keep them at bay is a substantial advantage.
• Versatile. The Sarzmigar can be used in one or two hands, with or without the energy shroud and in conjunction with other equipment. It is most commonly used with an energy shield one handed as a spear. However, it can also be used two handed as a halberd or pike.
Weaknesses:
• Cutting. Even more than the Sarix, the Sarzmigar lacks the lightsabre’s ability to sustain heavy cuts. For instance, a Sarzmigar cannot cut through a blast door such as Qui-Gonn did, nor can it be used to melt through a solid wall or vehicle plating. It can only be used for cutting and piercing personal equipment and small items of other material.
• Weight. The Sarzmigar is a heavy and tiring weapon. If used in one hand it can only be used effectively as a spear. In two hands it can be used to cut and stab. In either case it is dramatically slower than a lightsabre or any one handed weapon.
• Unpowered. Without the energy shroud the Sarzmigar is merely a durasteel polearm, admittedly a fine one. If caught with the power off, or if ion or other circumstances deactivates it, the blade can be destroyed relatively easily. A lightsabre or even a vibrosword would have no problem cutting it, and a blaster will blow it apart. Additionally, the lower half of the shaft is mere durasteel and can thus be severed if struck.
• Blasters. The Sarzmigar cannot be used to reflect blaster bolts. It is too slow, and the head too small to effectively make this a tactic. Whilst one might deflect a shot with great difficulty, it cannot be aimed.
DESCRIPTION
The Sarzmigar is cousin to the Sarix, both being Eldorai weapons from their time before discovery by the general galaxy. The Sarzmigar’s origins are based on a Kar’zun polearm the rock people used with great effect in their many wars with the Eldorai. Needing a weapon which could match the reach of their enemies, the Sarzmigar was designed – some would say copied – and used in the final great wars between the two cultures.

This weapon though, like the Sarix, was woefully unsuited for the modern galactic era. Though it possessed good cutting abilities, the original Sarzmigar suffered from low cutting strength and short power pack times. A replacement was needed.

Therefore, Firemane was contracted to design a replacement. The Sarzmigar as now designed is primarily a weapon designed for support or in groups. The long plasma shrouded tip can cut and slash at a reach beyond what a vibrosword or lightsabre. When combined with a Taegis shield, a user can keep an enemy back using the weapon’s reach. Alternatively, when used with two hands the user can be more offensive, using the reach and wicked blade to keep an enemy back.

The weapon though does have serious drawbacks. One thing it lacks even compared to a Sarix is the inability to block or reflect blaster bolts. One might deflect one by skill or luck, but it’s hard to do, and can’t be accurately directed back. Further, being a polearm, it is heavier and more cumbersome than a regular lightsabre or any one handed weapon. If an enemy can get past the reach with such a weapon it is difficult to strike them.

Overall the Sarzmigar is a good weapon for support or for specific uses, but requires training to make fullest use of it.
