  • Sarsius Sol-Kress was born on Aargau into a minor but influential family involved in lending, shipping insurance, and military supply contracts. He learned finance and negotiation early, but disliked the expectations and social maneuvering of his upbringing. He became a mercenary, serving various galactic factions as a patrol leader and infantryman.

During a routine patrol, his squad was wiped out by Thyrsian Sun Guard employed by the opposing government. His disciplined resistance impressed their commander enough to offer him enlistment rather than continued captivity. Sarsius accepted and began again as a Legionnaire, with no privileges attached to his name or previous service.

He faced hostility as an outsider but earned advancement through reliable service, careful planning, and a refusal to waste troops. His financial knowledge also helped uncover missing supplies and secure better contracts. As he gained authority, he removed officers who undermined him sometimes to protect discipline, sometimes to protect his position.

Now a Thychani Dictator, Sarsius leads a portion of the Sun Guard in service to the True Emperor, Darth Solipsis. He believes Imperial patronage offers his warriors lasting influence and stability, though some traditionalists still reject his leadership. He has renewed family ties to secure equipment and financing, returning to the business he once intended to escape.

  • Sarsius is calm, stern, and practical. He expects clear answers, competent work, and obedience once a decision is made. He provides reliable pay, supplies, and protection in return, but offers little praise.

He views authority as both a responsibility and a right. He dislikes pointless cruelty, yet readily uses harsh punishment when he believes it will prevent further resistance. Results matter more to him than fairness. His family name remains a source of pride despite his resentment of its expectations.

He interferes in relatives' lives and treats independence as irresponsibility, repeating the behavior that drove him away from Aargau. He respects Solipsis's power rather than worshipping him. His greatest flaws are pride in his judgment and a need for control. He can secure obedience without earning affection, then fail to notice how much resentment has built beneath it.

    MERCENARY BACKGROUND

  • Disciplined Command
Keeps reserves, prepares withdrawal routes, and assigns clear objectives. He does not confuse a dramatic attack with a useful one.

    Sun Guard Combatant
Proficient with rifles, sidearms, and melee weapons. He remains capable in close fighting, though he usually contributes more from command.

    Political Judgement
Recognizes competing interests and negotiates agreements with enforceable obligations. He is careful about promises that depend entirely on goodwill.

    Composure
Handles losses and unexpected developments without spreading panic. Subordinates usually receive a workable decision rather than an emotional reaction.

    Outsider Commander
Some Sun Guard obey his office without accepting his right to hold it. A serious defeat could give opponents grounds to challenge his command.

    Reliance on Control
He struggles with allies who act independently and subordinates who need broad discretion. His interference can slow decisions at the worst moment.

    Poor Social Skills
He treats loyalty as an obligation and affection as something that should survive correction. Family members and officers may obey him while quietly looking for an exit.

    Age and Injuries
He retains skill and strength but cannot sustain prolonged close combat as well as younger elite warriors. He needs protection and sensible positioning.
