General Information
Sariel Cyrane is the third child and second daughter of Lady Mareth Cyrane, matriarch of a minor but respected Hapan noble house seated upon the world of Relephon. House Cyrane lacks the immense fleets, influence and wealth wielded by the greatest dynasties of the Consortium, but has earned a distinguished reputation through military discipline, naval readiness and generations of dependable service to the Duch’a presiding over the Rifle Worlds.
As a younger daughter, Sariel was raised without the certainty—or restrictions—of succession. While her elder sister was instructed in estate management, political alliances and the responsibilities of eventually leading the house, Sariel gravitated toward the void. She proved well suited to command, displaying the decisiveness and spatial awareness expected of Cyrane officers. Her mother eventually entrusted her with command of one of the house fleets, placing both Cyrane lives and a considerable portion of the family’s military strength beneath her authority.
Sariel is a product of two Hapan traditions. She understands that beauty, ceremony and social presentation are potent weapons within the Consortium, but she is equally at ease upon a warship’s command deck. She may appear at court draped in silk, gold and amethysts one evening, then oversee combat drills in a sharply tailored naval uniform the next morning.
She is loyal to House Cyrane and to the Rifle Worlds, though her loyalty is neither thoughtless nor passive. Sariel is determined to ensure that her relatively modest house is never dismissed as an ornamental or expendable vassal. She seeks to strengthen its fleet, expand its alliances and prove that House Cyrane deserves influence beyond the limits imposed by its current station.

History
House Cyrane was never counted among the grandest dynasties of the Hapes Cluster. Its estates were modest when compared with the holdings of ancient ducal families, and its household fleets could not match the vast armadas controlled from Hapes or Gallinore. What the house possessed instead was location, discipline and a willingness to answer when summoned.
From its seat on Relephon, House Cyrane developed alongside the martial culture of the Rifle Worlds. Generations of Cyrane women served as officers, security commanders and naval strategists. The house became known for maintaining ships in a constant state of readiness and for producing crews capable of coordinated action without the lavish support networks available to larger houses. Their vessels were rarely the largest in a formation, but they were often among the most reliable.
The Cyranes rose to become trusted vassals of the Duch’a governing the Rifle Worlds. Their duties included patrol work, escort assignments, anti-piracy operations and the reinforcement of vulnerable systems. Although these responsibilities brought prestige, they also came at a considerable cost. House Cyrane could not afford to replace vessels casually, teaching its commanders to preserve their strength through preparation, maneuver and controlled aggression.
Sariel was born one of the daughters of Lady Mareth Cyrane. From childhood she received the expected education of a Hapan noblewoman: etiquette, political history, rhetoric, estate economics and the careful reading of courtly behavior. She was capable in these lessons, though never enthralled by them. Her greatest enthusiasm emerged during instruction in military history and orbital navigation.
Without the burden of being her mother’s heir, Sariel was permitted greater freedom to pursue a military path. She entered formal naval education while still young, though Lady Mareth ensured that her daughter’s advancement would not be attributed solely to birth. Sariel trained beside officers from lesser branches of the family and personnel whose only inheritance was their talent.
Her earliest assignments placed her aboard patrol and escort vessels operating throughout the Rifle Worlds. She learned the less glamorous realities of command: maintenance schedules, supply limitations, personnel disputes and the exhausting patience of searching empty space for threats that might never appear. Those duties instilled in her a preference for preparation over theatrics.
Sariel’s first significant command came during a pirate interception in which a Cyrane patrol group found itself outnumbered. Rather than retreat immediately or attempt a glorious direct engagement, she used sensor interference and the local gravity wells to divide the hostile formation. The maneuver allowed her ships to destroy or disable the attackers in detail. The victory was not spectacular by the standards of the Consortium’s great armadas, but it preserved Cyrane lives and vessels while demonstrating Sariel’s command instincts.
Lady Mareth subsequently placed one of House Cyrane’s standing fleets under Sariel’s command. The appointment gave Sariel responsibility for defending family holdings, supporting the Duch’a of the Rifle Worlds and representing Cyrane military interests within the broader Consortium.
She now stands in the complicated position of a noblewoman with genuine authority but no expectation of inheriting her mother’s seat. Sariel has the freedom to build a legacy independent of succession, yet every victory she earns strengthens the sister who will one day rule House Cyrane.

Appearance
Sariel is a tall and striking Hapan woman whose bearing makes her appear equally suited to the bridge of a warship and the halls of a noble palace. She stands approximately one metre and seventy-eight centimetres tall, possessing an athletic, shapely build maintained through military conditioning, weapons training and the physical demands of life aboard a warship. Her posture is straight and deliberate, projecting authority even when she is standing at ease.
Her complexion is a warm bronze-brown, complemented by long, dark-brown hair that falls well beyond her shoulders. Sariel most often wears it loose or partially swept to one side, decorating it with delicate golden chains, fine braids and amethyst ornaments. The elaborate style is unmistakably Hapan, combining personal beauty with a subtle display of wealth and dynastic identity.
Sariel’s eyes are a warm amber-brown framed by dark lashes and sharply defined brows. They tend to remain controlled and observant, frequently giving the impression that she is evaluating the people and environment around her. Sariel is confident, disciplined and accustomed to being obeyed. Her command style is founded upon preparation rather than intimidation. She expects personnel beneath her authority to understand their duties, maintain professional standards and speak honestly when they possess information relevant to the mission. Once a decision has been made, however, she expects it to be executed without hesitation.
Although serious while on duty, Sariel is not humorless. She possesses a dry wit and enjoys unsettling overly confident nobles with understated remarks. Her upbringing has given her a keen awareness of social maneuvering, and she can move through Hapan court society with considerable skill. She simply prefers the direct hierarchy of a command deck to the concealed rivalries of a ballroom.
Sariel is deeply loyal to House Cyrane. She does not resent her elder sister’s position as heir, but she is conscious that her own accomplishments may always be interpreted through the success of the family rather than as an individual legacy. This has produced a powerful need to distinguish herself, not by undermining her sister, but by becoming indispensable in her own sphere.
She respects competence regardless of social origin, though she remains thoroughly shaped by Hapan aristocratic assumptions. Sariel can be demanding, proud and occasionally dismissive of those who have not yet proven themselves. She has little patience for wasteful bravado, particularly from commanders who sacrifice personnel for reputation.
Sariel’s composure is genuine but not endless. Threats to her family, her crews or the dignity of House Cyrane can provoke a colder and more aggressive response. Once angered, she rarely becomes loud. Instead, her words grow measured, her expression still and her intentions considerably more dangerous.
