Armaments:
  • 1x Class II Deimos Positron Cannon (Main Gun) - Adapted for atmospheric use, the positron cannon uses special quarrels capable of generating containment fields to keep the antimatter from making contact with the atmosphere during flight and reduce drag for the projectile. The use of the quarrel also allows for indirect fire. Upon impact, a breach is created in the field to allow the positron packet to collide directly against objects for devastating matter-antimatter annihilation using the surface of the target itself as part of the reaction. As the surface is destroyed, the quarrel continues forward to deliver kinetic damage with its momentum. In this way, it operates similarly to conventional tandem charges to penetrate especially tough armor schemes like composite armor or beskar plating. The quarrel can also be used in airburst mode, the field dropping during flight to annihilate the quarrel and surrounding air for a powerful thermobaric effect of super heated blast waves along with the release intense of gamma radiation. Airbust mode functions well as a method for area bombardment, as well as busting energy shields and disabling electronics.
  • 1x Coaxial Mounted Particle Beam Cannon (Main Gun)
  • 2x PLX-4 Missile Launcher (Turret) - The vehicle mounted launchers are primarily used as defense against aerial threats, but are effective against ground based targets too. They can be loaded with a variety of missiles or rockets. When the limited ammunition of the launchers is exhausted, they must be manually reloaded by crews.
  • 2x Famos Particle Beam rifles (Turret) - A pair of Famos rifles have been linked directly to the tank's reactor and internal gas supplies for extended use. The 20mm mass drivers of the Famos are fed with large box magazines, canisters of vibro-flechettes being their usual loadout. Mounted port and starboard atop the turret, the Famos are used to defend the tank against personnel and incoming projectiles. Offensively, they still perform their original role well as an anti-material platform.
  • 2x DRK-1 Probe Droid - The Saracen carries its own pair of recon drones, eliminating the need for accompanying scout vehicles or aerial ISR assets. The probe can relay information in real time to assist the droid brain in improving firing solutions.
Defenses:
  • Composite Armor: The Saracen utilizes composite armor as a weight saving measure and improved defense against varied weapon types. It begins with a hard backing of quadanium steel, layered with multiple sheets of sasori mesh, and plates of neutronium and dallorian alloy. The layers of dallorian and sasori mesh together serve to as protection against explosives and energy weapons, while the dense neutronium plates are meant to stop kinetic weapons like penetrators by dispersing their energy across the surface of the plate. Plates of nutorium alloy forms the topmost layer, used for reducing the Saracen's chances of detection and target acquisition by enemy sensors. The armor is painted with the appropriate camouflage schemes to avoid visual detection.
  • 6x Smokescreen Canisters - The canisters release large black clouds of particulate to obstruct both visual and non-visual sensors
  • Damage Control Systems
  • EMP/Ion Resistance - The Saracen uses redundant wiring, dallorian-based capacitor banks, and combat dionizers to resist the effects of ion weapons and emps. It also features a unique set of grounding spikes, which can be deployed from the bottom of the tank to dissipate excess electricity over a large surface. The grounding spikes deploy automatically when all other protective measures fail, causing the tank to halt to remain anchored to the ground.
  • Inertial compensators - The Saracen is equipped with interial compensators to protect the crew against violent vibrations and gravity-based weaponry. It helps keep the turret stable for accurate fire.

  • Biocomm (Kiribian variant) - Kiribian Crewman are able to operate and monitor their Saracen without the need to join them on the battlefield. This removes a weakpoint of the tank. It is possible for non-KSU variants to be operated in the same manner, but without Biocomm, they much more susceptible to jamming.
  • Droid Brain - Used to assist the crew in monitoring the tank, loading weapons, and developing fire solutions. While it is possible for the droid brain to operate the tank in autonomous mode, this is only used in emergencies where the crew is incapacitated as the simple droid brain cannot compete against manned crews when it comes to creativity.
Strengths:

+The Saracen's main gun allows it to shred through enemy armor and hardened structures by the properties of its positron rounds. It is punishing against unshielded targets, even those using exotic materials for defense.
+The use of repulsorslifts and inertial compensators allows for a great degree of mobility while maintaining accurate fire with droid assisted aiming.

Weaknesses:

-The features and materials used for the construction of the tank limit its manufacturing and deployment.
-Even with an active protection system and countermeasures, the Saracen is vulnerable to aircraft. It is not recommended to deploy the tank into areas alone without air support if air superiority hasn't been established.

Description:

In their joint campaigns with the Republic, the Kiribians found that their imported ground vehicles were woefully underequipped to deal with more modern threats like the Myrkava MBT and aerial attack platforms like the Basalisk war droids. As part of a modernization effort to improve the performance of its own ground forces, the Saracen was developed as the nation's first indigenous tank design. With a modified Deimos cannon serving as its main gun, the Saracen can stand toe to toe with contemporary vehicles with excellent damage output, powered by an impressive Isotope 5 reactor sourced from Sasori. It's variety of secondary arms give it the flexibility to attack a myriad of targets, from troop concentrations to large biots.

To clarify, can this airburst mode be used as anti-aircraft weapon?

What kind of damage-control submissions does this submission have? Are we talking about fire extinguishing systems, repair droids, etc.


This includes a fair amount of cutting edge systems. Because of that, I would like to see a 10-20 post development thread (this post count does not include the nutorium, if you so choose to use it).
