SAONE NOLA-BAY
wVvoJkT.png
Saone was born in the lower administrative districts of Lessu, where his family operated a small translation and documentation service for offworld merchants. He grew up watching customs officials reject legitimate cargo over a misplaced seal while waving through fraudulent manifests belonging to wealthier traders.

Possessing an exceptional memory for procedures, signatures and bureaucratic language, Saone earned sponsorship to attend Trade Federation University. He studied commerce law and logistics, but became fascinated by the systems used to authenticate corporate orders, shipping documents and financial transfers. While other students learned how the galactic economy functioned, Saone learned where it was weakest.

He graduated without scandal and eventually found work auditing commercial records for the Trade Federation. His position gave him access to customs reports, historical cargo registries and restricted formatting systems used by Federation subsidiaries. Saone was efficient, discreet and seemingly loyal.

His criminal career began with minor favors. He corrected an associate's customs violation, altered a shipment's arrival date and removed an embarrassing disciplinary report from a corporate archive. Each alteration was small enough to escape notice, but lucrative enough to invite further requests.

Saone eventually forged an executive authorization allowing a private mining concern to seize several disputed cargo vessels. The deception succeeded, but the company attempted to eliminate everyone involved. Saone escaped by replacing his own employment record with that of a deceased records officer and disappeared before investigators understood who they were searching for.

He resurfaced years later as the owner of Nola-Bay Verification Services, a supposedly legitimate consultancy specializing in damaged records, disputed ownership claims and identity restoration. The company remains his public face, while its private clients pay considerably more for documents that were never genuine in the first place.

PERSONALITY

Saone is calm, formal and almost painfully polite. He rarely raises his voice, even when threatened, and responds to insults with the patient expression of a lecturer correcting an inattentive student. He considers emotional outbursts a sign that someone has lost control of the negotiation.

Behind this restraint is considerable vanity. Saone views forgery as an intellectual discipline and believes most governments are held together by little more than official seals, familiar language and the assumption that no one would dare imitate them. He takes personal offense when his work is dismissed as simple counterfeiting.

He does not enjoy bloodshed and avoids working with clients who kill unnecessarily. This is not compassion. Dead officials prompt investigations, while frightened officials can be manipulated repeatedly. Saone prefers scandals, resignations, false arrests and quiet disappearances conducted through forged transfer orders.

Although deeply cynical, he remains proud of his education. He continues referring to former professors by their full academic titles and displays his Trade Federation University credentials prominently in his office. Some part of him still wants to be recognized as a respected authority rather than a criminal.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

new-small-bar.png

STRENGTHS
Administrative Savant: Saone understands how governments, corporations and military bureaucracies process information. He knows which records receive scrutiny and which are accepted without question.

Complete Fabrications: His forged identities are supported by extensive background records rather than a single false credential. Even successful investigations often uncover another carefully prepared layer.

Trade Federation Education: His knowledge of commerce law, logistics and corporate procedure allows him to exploit systems without immediately triggering security responses.

Patient Operator: Saone is willing to spend months preparing a deception. He would rather delay a profitable operation than release imperfect work.

Extensive Alumni Network: Former classmates now work throughout shipping companies, financial institutions and regional governments. Many unknowingly provide him with valuable information.

Holo-Manipulation Expert: Saone can reconstruct voices, mannerisms and visual recordings well enough to deceive most civilian authentication systems.

Difficult to Prosecute: He works through intermediaries and rarely possesses the finished forgery himself. Clients often cannot prove they ever met him.

WEAKNESSES
Professional Pride: Saone cannot tolerate crude alterations being attributed to him. Insulting the quality of his work can draw him into unnecessary arguments or investigations.

Physically Limited: His heavy build and poor endurance make prolonged combat or escape difficult. He relies on guards, concealed exits and advance preparation.

Dependent on Access: His most convincing work requires authentic records, encryption formats and institutional procedures. Isolating him from reliable data sharply reduces his effectiveness.

Reluctant to Destroy His Work: Saone archives copies of nearly every major fabrication as proof of his skill. These records could expose years of criminal activity if discovered.

Overly Elaborate: He sometimes adds unnecessary details to demonstrate his brilliance. These flourishes can create patterns that an experienced investigator might recognize.

Avoids Direct Violence: Saone hesitates when a situation requires immediate physical action. Aggressive opponents can force him out of his carefully controlled environment.
