Salcar is a short, strong Human, usually garbed in loose armor and clothing to beat the desert heat as much as possible. He is mostly filthy, dust and sand covering a tan, scarred body abused by the sun and the heat. His hair is wild and unkempt, with an equally unruly beard to match. The equipment Salcar hauls around on him is likewise filthy and mismatched, but functional. Hidden at almost all times by his clothing are two brandings, one on the back of his hand and another on the very bottom of his neck, displaying the symbol of his former master, a skull with crossed blaster rifles underneath.

BIOGRAPHY:

Salcar Sand is a scavver, and has been since as early as he could remember. He was born into slavery, working as a scavenger for a cruel master, Ghorum the Hutt, on the planet Argavat. A long time ago, a great battle occurred in orbit of the desert world, and the wreckage left behind was still salvageable. Ghorum, and others like him, had their property comb the desert for anything of value. This is all Salcar knew for years and years: wake up, scavenge, go to sleep.

The desert was not kind to those within it, and many of Salcar’s friends and fellow slaves perished in the hot sun, dying of heat exhaustion or falling prey to the vicious local wildlife. This hardened Salcar over time, and he began to speak less and less to those around him. In time, it would be weeks before he spoke, and only when necessary.

What Salcar lacked in social graces, he made up with the amount of quality salvage he’d bring back. While those who worked alongside him knew how well of a job he did, Ghorum thought of him just as another slave. In fact, the Hutt took to punishing Salcar whenever he failed to do an exemplary job. Ghorum took a counterproductive, malicious pleasure in torturing Salcar. With a battered body but burning spirit, he continued to work, all the while plotting.

When Salcar was about 20 years old, he decided to make good on his bid for freedom. Deactivating his slave collar with a salvaged tool, Salcar slipped through Ghorum’s camp, silently disposing of guards and freeing fellow slaves whenever possible. Salcar managed to escape, but not before brutally maiming Ghorum.

With his escape complete, Salcar ran off further into the desert. With his knowledge of the desert, the former slave turned into a freelance scavver, turning in his salvage for food and water. Dodging Ghorum’s hunters, Salcar made something of himself in this harsh world, but at the same time, he felt as if he was destined for something more.
