Description: The Tabaqui Plant could be described as a relatively organic in design, doing its best to look natural throughout the landscape. It is circular with immense solarium glasteel windows, used for both strength and energy capturing technology. During the design and building of the facility, energy capture was paramount, as Tabaqui has no infrastructure in place. Solarium glasteel, geothermal, and solar power are all used to keep things running at a near twenty four hour a day pace.
Salvage enters the plant via shuttles entering from Celestia Station, orbiting the atmosphere outside of Tabaqui. This was done as per agreement with the locals, who prefer their planet not to become a bustling mega center. Salvage is sorted in Celestia Station, leaves and arrives at any one of the on-ground landing pads. Pulled off the shuttles by humans and droids alike, it is taken to the underground levels of the plant to be melted down and refined. Melting and refinement is a hot, dirty and dangerous process. Utmost safety is taken in this area and is typically off-limits to visitors due to its dangerous nature. After refinement, Salacia turns the recycled durasteel into rolls of metal sheeting, long beams or merely custom molds/stamps them for companies via contract.
Eighty percent of the employees working at the Tabaqui plant are locals, many came long distances in order to try something new on the long forgotten planet. This in turn created a local village, one that Salacia partially sponsors. Locals work in nearly every department and position, with many promoted since their time at the plant. The other twenty percent of employees are Salacia workers brought in from other regions of the ‘verse. These employees stay in on-site dorms or in the village if they choose. Due to a potential of high burnout (Tabaqui not being the most exciting planet), non-local employees are rotated out every six months and sent on other assignments.
History: The structure did not exist until Salacia Consolidated entered the area. At first, a small facility existed in its place. However, as the company grew, so did the facility. It came to a point where Salacia negotiated with the local council to expand their facility, coming together on terms such as shuttle traffic and outsiders. In order to keep the locals happy, a great deal of the facility also extends underground, with pre-planning allowing for more machinery if needed. In addition to the current facility, expansion on the other side of the mountain/rock structure is planned and will be put into place over the coming years.
