Intent: To revitalize an old canon piece of tech and apply slight changes to make it fit as an implant from Sakura
Development Thread: if needed

Manufacturer: Sakura Welfare
Model: Processing Implant
Affiliation: Private Market
Modularity: N/A
Production: Mass-Produced. (Anyone.)
Material:

  • Nano Tubing
  • Hybrid Plexisteel
  • Computer Components
  • Monitoring Components
Strengths:
  • Controls nerves and pain receptors
Weaknesses:
  • Vulnerable to Ion/EMP weapons
  • While active you cannot feel pai or if something has happened to you which could result in further injury
Description: Often considered a soldiers best friend, the implant requires users and candidates for the surgery be in top physical condition so that they will be able to survive. In the case of the implant however it is very different from the others provided by Sakura as it doesn't alter the brain or muscles to improve functionality ot provide stimulation to incite healing and a euphoric sense. Instead is is a pain blocker that is implanted and works to deaden while it is active the nerves. As a full body implant made to inhibit the nerve endings to send the signal for pain allowing a soldier to take a hit and not notice it in the field or if they are unable to get painkillers a soldier to turn off the pain receptors for medical droids to work. In some cases ideas of using it for spies who might suffer torture at the hands of the enemy was offered as they wouldn't be able to feel it and therefor have no need to talk. The small computer that is designed to function is semi protected in the body as its positioning within the brain and connected throughout allows it to resist electrodes generally placed on the body. To short it out with them you'd need to jam it into the users head effectively killing them and shorting it out.

Hi [member="Cathbodua"], I will be reviewing this submission.

Can you please elaborate on the following in the description:
  • Does the implant directly affect the brain's ability to register all pain? Or is this for extreme circumstances only (ex: loss of limb)
  • If subjected to electricity (in the form of torture for example) will this short out?
  • Can this implant be placed anywhere in the body or localized to the brain or specific area of the body?

It is a full body implant much the same way as the bacta processing implant. Allowing it to have small inhibitors on the nerves to control them which is one of the reasons why it is a long surgery
Electrodes to the brain would be needed and jammed into the skull which as a method of torture would be dangerous while trying to take out information as you risk brain damage.
The implant itself would be general and more like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congenital_insensitivity_to_painwhich runs a dangerous risk and I altered the weaknesses to show it. By not being able to feel the pain they also won't know if something happens like biting a piece of their tongue off or if they break a limb.
