Discussion Sabacc - Coronet Split Rules

So podracing fun has long been unlocked on the board with Jorus' Podracing - Hoth Rules, but another piece of iconic Star Wars lore still remains underutilized on the board.

Inspired by Jorus' podracing Hoth Rules and with the help of Zark San Tekka Zark San Tekka , I present...

Sabacc - Coronet Split ruleset.

Setup:

Each player places their initial bet.
Players roll a d20 to determine their initial hand of cards.
Three Rounds per Game.
Objective of the game is to accumulate 40 points. Anything over 40 is a BUST: If a player's hand total exceeds 40 at any point during the game, they automatically lose the game, regardless of other players' hands.
The player with the highest hand total in the end, without exceeding 40, wins the game and takes the pot.

Gameplay:

First Round (Initial Hand and Betting):
  1. Players place their initial bets.
  2. Each player rolls a d20. The result determines their initial hand.
  3. Players have the option to hit, stand, or fold for the Second Round.
Second Round:
  1. Players who hit in the first round roll a d20 to accumulate points into their initial hand.
  2. Players who stood in the first round skip rolling a d20.
  3. Players have the option to hit, stand, or fold again for the Third (Final) Round.
Third Round (Final):
  1. Players who hit in the second round roll a d20 to accumulate points into their initial hand.
  2. Players who stood in the second round skip rolling a d20.
  3. Totals are summed up. Player with the highest tally wins. If tally is over 40 - the player BUSTS.

Special Rule:

Roll of 7: If a player rolls a 7, they accumulate the 7 points as usual. Additionally, they have the option to reduce another player's total result by 3 points.

Pure Sabacc vs. Idiot's Array:

In the event where players have equal total scores, they each roll a d20. The player with the higher roll has an Idiot's Array and wins, the other loses with a Pure Sabacc (ouch).

Example in role-playing scenario:

  1. 1st round:
    Player A: roll 15 (hand: 15)
    Player B: roll 10 (hand: 10)
    Player C: roll 20 (hand: 20)
    Player D: roll 5 (hand: 5)
    Player A: Hits
    Player B: Hits
    Player C: Stands
    Player D: Folds
  2. 2nd round:
    Player A: roll 10 (hand: 25)
    Player B: roll 10 (hand 20)
Player C: stood, no roll (hand: 20)
    Player A: Hits
    Player B: Hits
    Player C: Hits
  3. 3rd round:
    Player A: roll 20 (hand: 45) BUST
    Player B: roll 15( hand: 35)
    Player C: roll 10 (hand: 30)

    Player B wins
