PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Rykar von Sotte is a tall and lean adult male Kel Dor without any visible physical disabilities or scars. Since he frequently travels to a wide variety of different extreme environments, Rykar almost never wears the same outfit twice in a row and can be encountered in anything from shorts and a T-shirt to a full radiation suit. The only consistent articles of clothing that Rykar wears are a amulet necklace gifted by his parents and an antiox breath mask to allow him to breathe in atmospheres outside that of his native Dorin.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Rykar von Sotte is a friendly and outgoing Kel Dor with a passion for all things organic. Driven by a desire to ensure all living creatures can continue to thrive in the galaxy, Rykar devotes himself to rigorous and thorough study of the biology of individual species and the ecology of planetary biomes, especially those most vulnerable to destruction. Rykar holds a deep compassion and sympathy for all living organisms, even "aberrations" such as Sithspawn. Outside of his passion for nature, Rykar enjoys reading fiction and ironically is a recreational hunter, though he holds himself to a strict code of conduct to avoid harming populations.

HISTORY

Rykar von Sotte was born on the planet Dorin in 873 ABY to a middle-class family of engineers. From a young age, Rykar was fascinated by the contrast between the mostly barren, lifeless surface of Dorin and the thriving ecosystems on other planets, seeking to understand how these differences came to be. Rykar’s parents would often take him on extended trips offworld, where he experienced the true depth of life in the galaxy firsthand, but also learning of the devastation sentients could inflict on nature during times of war or corporate exploitation. Seeking to protect and document the diverse wildlife of the galaxy for future generations, Rykar acquired a bachelor’s degree in biology followed by a master’s degree in wildlife biology and finally a doctorate in applied biology at the age of 28.

Since gaining his doctorate, Rykar has travelled the galaxy pursuing fellowship programs and grants to further his research into and advocacy for the galaxy’s myriad wildlife.
