STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

Tinkering- Not necessarily a mechanic, Rune has a strange knack for fixing, improving and creating devices.

Melee Supremacy- While Rune may be decent with a ranged weapon, his skill in melee certainly overshadows his marksmanship. Preferring his fist and feet along with the occasional pole, he would supplement his lack of defense with a pair of salvaged shield gauntlets and his miniscule flow in the Force.

Bad attitude- Though he is loyal, Rune seems to have a pithy and glib attitude often leading him to making rude or sarcastic, if not insightful, comments. His refusal to stow his own pride and mouth has and will get him into trouble in the future. A trait discouraged by Jedi in general. If he sees an opportunity to poke to bear, he will do his best to poke the bear.

Illusionary stunted- Though he remembers the rumors of his childhood, Rune seems to have trouble with powers involving the alteration of a person's senses or memory.

APPEARANCE:
Tall and slightly gaunt, Rune possesses a compact athletic build. Long platinum blond hair falls over ears studded and pierced. With a wolfish grin he carries himself with swagger and an unwarranted sense of pride that Jedi are warned against.

BIOGRAPHY:

Rune was given up to the Jedi by his unknown parents at birth. He was an oddly quiet infant and toddler, occasionally leaving even the most responsible caretaker to forget he even existed. Some claimed that it was some innate Force effect; that he was projecting some type of illusion, but this was generally dismissed as an excuse for irresponsibility. He grew and played like every normal child but never really seemed to make any friends even though he wasn't particularly mean nor shy. To most of the other children who grew up with him he was just simply there. Perhaps this was why the pirates who stole him away were so successful.Taken away to a Corellian Corvette under the callsign Thorn, it was intended for him to be randomed off back to the jedi. However, this plan failed; when the jedi temple was contacted to set the ransom, the Jedi called it a bluff because Rune didn't appear in any Jedi records. The ship’s Captain, a Wookiee called Thok, was both annoyed and humbled by this. His second mate gave the boy a choice: that Rune would either work on the ship or be ejected into space. Now twice abandoned, the child chose the former. Working harder than he ever did among the jedi, Rune was forced to clean to ship among the maintenance droids before some of the kinder started to teach him how to fix and repair things--something which seemed to flow into him through the Force.

Not all of the crew were so kind. He learned to take the occasional kick or backhand, suffering the abuse in silent dignity. It seemed the boy was a favored outlet for some of the crew. However one evening, when Rune was just entering puberty, Thok finally witnessed the abuse for the first time. A large Trandoshan had knocked Rune halfway across the mess hall when Thok let out a deafening roar. Rune’s shoulder was dislocated, but on the Captain's orders he was forced to hold the blaster as Thok demanded he execute the abusive and dishonourable crew mate.

Rune was never touched again.

He was roughly sixteen before he was ordered to join his first raid; he had grown strong and trustworthy. Having chosen or been gifted his own tools of piracy he never carried many weapons or wore much armor. In his spare time he was practicing the simple exercises he was taught by the jedi hoping to grow stronger in the Force and eventually entertaining the crew: it was his first use of the Force for violence when the first blaster fire started. Rune dropped into an unusual state of calm and clarity as the pistol he had claimed his first life with was guided by ghostly hands and claiming nine more within a matter of a few seconds leaving the crew and the captain surprised. With his first share of goods earned and stashed away he would spend a little over a decade with the crew and Thok before departing amicably…

...and promptly being arrested for piracy.
