Round 1 Varanin Zero Four Vs Jak Sandrow

Dredge

Kneel Before Zod
Character
@[member="Varanin Zero Four"] Vs @[member="Jak Sandrow"]
Rules: Lightsabers and fists only. no force powers

Desert, plain and simple a dried out hell hole with a blazing sun beading down on anything and everything bellow it. The scenery was quite easy to describe, there was everything that one would think to be in a desert. Lots and lots of sand. However scattered on the two hundred by two hundred meter arena were cacti, and the sun bleached bones of various dead animals. Heat waves fluttered and danced in the distance. It was hot to say the least, the sun heat and sand would play a role within the duelists fight. As per the norm a voice summoned itself around them and with gruff rough tone the start sounded. "FIGHT!"

Walking silently along the sandy dunes, Varanin squinted against the sun as he moved. He was dressed in a sleeveless shirt, baggy jeans with an obnoxiously large belt buckle, and tan boots. On his spine against his belt, rest a few Sith Poisoned darts, on his right hip was a small dagger with a dichlorophenoxyacetic acid coating - which is a powerful herbicide.

Picking up speed to a jog, then a slight run, ending in an all out sprint. Huge billowing clouds of sands trailed behind him for roughly 10 feet. Why was he doing this? Because it was something to do as he awaited his opponent. They had never met, but Varanin had done extensive research on most Fringers - even those whom left - as such he knew Jak was Vinithj, a powerful plant like species. He would be a deadly adversary.

All Jak knew about his opponent was his name, a smidge of his background, and the fact that he was fairly cunning. So he was expecting to be surprised when he met Varanin-04.

Pulling up to a ridge on a locally bought speeder, he put electrobinoculars to his face. Seeing a little plume of sand coming relatively in his direction, he gunned down to meet his opponent.

Jak was waaaaayyy out of his element here. The hot sun, the lack of plant materiel around him, the fact the only water nearby was in a canteen in the back of the speeder. He took some now and drank it, feeling the replenishing fluid begin to fill him back up again.

If he went too long without water, he would deflate and eventually crisp... So he kept well-hydrated.

Jak's fingers brushed his sabers, and he was comforted. The two blades had been hand-crafted to his... unique... specifications. He hadn't had much time to practice with them, but he felt fairly confident.

To use them he had to come up with a new form of his own. For lack of a better name, he called it Form VI - the Striking Whip. It focused primarily on forward attacks, as well as side slashes, and the style was Jak's preferred usage for the saber, anyway.

Spotting the incoming speeder, Varanin slid to a halt and began cracking his joints to loosen himself up. Fingers, wrists, shoulders, and many more sounded out before he began moving again. Zero Four never used sabers, so he had to hope the man before him would not either. The force whispered otherwise though, so he stayed ready.

The dagger he brought could be a potential enemy for any one other then Varanin. He knew the difficulty of a huge body for the mind whom wasnt ready. As soon as the herbicide entered Jaks blood, or was coated well enough along his skin, he would begin swelling. Being a sentient being as well, that required organs to survive, this could be fatal - ignoring the lethality of the over growth draining water etc.

Sith poison marked darts were the other weapon, he didnt know how well it would work against a Vinithi. Just that it would. Sith Poison was a byproduct of alchemy. It would enrage the man just as every other species, forcing him to the darkside for a moment all the while resulting in bad decisions being made.

Then there was his fists, alongside his cryogenic and shatterpoint abilities. These both could be enough to decimate the average person. Would Jak be better?

"Lets do this." Varanin murmured to himself before charging head strong again.

Jak saw the man stop, and start running again. He urged the speeder faster, knowing all the while it would never hit the man. Nevertheless, he planned out what he'd do.

He couldn't see any lightsaber on the opponent, but that didn't mean there wasn't one. He ran quickly through a mental checklist. Thorn arms? Ready. Tentacle vines? Not available in this heat. Crap. He took another water swig. Refilling his canteen, he drank till he couldn't drink any more. Water? Done and done. The Force? Not in this heat. Mental probe? Nope. Brute raw plant strength? He turned his knuckles to hard bark. Hell yeh.

He drove the speeder straight to Varanin, hopping out at the last possible second, a saber igniting in each hand.

The man held lightsabers...

Kark.

With a curious arch to his brow, Varanin noticed a few things in quick succession. First, the being was new to the use if Sabers. Second being the weakness of the Force Signature, as well indicating that yes he had power but very rarely used it. While this was was the case for his opponent, Varanin was legitimately born with fighting programming - then his real life battles adding onto that experience.

Lastly. His power was nowhere to be found. Upon attempting use of Shatterpoint, he realized it was not possible.

Jumping forward, the giant man moved nearer - ending in a dive a few feet from Jak that brought him in a powerful uppercut aimed for the smaller man's chin.

As the larger man dove for him, Jak leaned on the balls of his heels, keeping his sabers in ready position. And so it was that before the man could punch him in the chin - a completely unexpected move - Jak managed to pull back far enough so that the fist only grazed him. Even so, he could feel the raw power behind the knuckles.

In the split second before the fight truly began, he determined three things. One, this man was far stronger and more sturdier than Jak. Jak would have to be light on his feet if he wanted to have a chance of winning. Two, the man seemed to prefer strength over finesse. Which wasn't to say the man had no style, it was just that he appeared to favor the ends over the means. Three, and by far the most important - the man had no sabers. If he did, surely he would have ignited them by now.

It was an advantage that Jak would use to great effect, he predicted.

Keeping away just out of saber range, Jak held his sabers in a V-shape, pointing the two prongs towards his opponent. He didn't say anything. Nothing needed to be said.

With a smile, the behemoth reached behind himself and drew forth a long thin metallic dart - which held no design save for it's tip being razor sharp and coated in poisons - alongside a lumpy object covering his knuckles. His Vibroknuckler was the only thing he felt could hold against duo sabers. When equipped he could battle harder, for he could now deflect incoming attacks, rendering the fear of death nigh obsolete.

Leaping high into the air, the man landed behind Jak, intent on bringing a skull shattering blow at the base. If connected it would firstly destroy the bone, second because of the horrendous amounts of vibration damage, he would probably leave with a broken spine. To follow through, Varanin aimed the darts tip for his opponents exposed back.

As the brute of a man leapt towards his head, he instinctively ducked, marvelling at how such a large man could move so fast.

And then he was flying forward to grind his face into the sand.

Before he even analyzed the situation, he had grown a thick back coating of bark to prevent a second hammer blow.

What had just happened? His neck felt... thicker... He put his hand back around, simultaneously rolling away from a perceived leap and smash, getting back to his feet. The base of his head had a goodly dent in it, and he once again was grateful that Vinithi had no real bone structure. It.... was more of an internal framework, on the microscopic scale.

Biology aside, it hurt. He resolved to not let it happen again.

He drew the bases of his lightsabers together, and with a metallic thunk, they had magnetized to each other. Gripping the now- double center, he gently wrenched one hilt's grip out, and, stuffing it in his pocket, he pressed an inner button on the saber. The twin blades began to spin around the grip, creating a crude lightshield.

Stopping the spinning, he held the double saber in his left hand, and leapt of his own accord at the other man. Using the saber to either deflect a blow or sever a limb, he used his other arm to whiplash three toxic darts of his own concoction in the other person's general direction. It was a hurried move, due to his having to keep on his feet, but he hoped it would be enough to maim, if not incapacitate altogether.

Bashing the knuckles against the oncoming saber completely halted it's spin, while his other hand now free of the Sith Poisoned dart (you didn't mention dodging so I'm guessing it struck) moved to barely alter the man's throw - now barely avoiding the counter darts as they were thrown. Even from a second long glance he knew them dangerous.

Then he slipped up, as his focus moved to dodging the darts, his own block faltered and ended with him taking a severe burn along his forearm. As he smelled the charred flesh he did not cease, instead he moved forward and sought to knock the man's arm to the side with his plain hand while his Vibroknuckler went straight for a powerful blow to the midsection.

This blow was not held back. If the poison hadn't kicked in, it would start now. And when something got that much rage coursing through their veins, they didn't think to block such a "meaningless" blow. Varanin knew all to well what a Sith Poisoned mind was capable of. When he had been poisoned he had slipped up so many times he nearly died. If he had been sober his mind would have seen the attacks for what they were - deadly.

He had to hope it would be the same for the Vinithi.

(It did, Jak just didn't feel it at first for the bark on his back.)

Jak had begun to see that the man's style had become sloppier. He had let himself be burned on the arm, and, while the blow didn't seem to hurt the man much, he was obviously favouring that arm. Nevertheless, the man posed a legitimate threat.

As the fist began to fly forward, the strange apparatus buzzing and looking very angry, he figured he could take a grazing shot, no more. After all, he could easily regenerate.

Wait. What was he thinking??

He did a quick once-over, and found a little extra protrusion in the small of his back. Reaching behind, he plucked a thin dart and checked the tip. Crap. He tagged me before I could get him... Feeling the surface of the dart, still in slo mo, the fist beginning to connect with him, he recognized the oily, slightly tacky substance on the dart. Sith Poison... But current issues were more prevalent: it would appear the fist was made of vibroblades. Those would tear him apart, given the chance.

So, using the man's arm as leverage, he pushed off, feeling the vibroblades slice cleanly out of him. That wound would be gushing soon enough, so he created a thorny plate to cover the mauling for now. He let his sap continue the job, concentrating on dealing with the Poison now rooted in his system.

He could work with it. Of course, he'd have to be wary of succumbing to 'I can survive that', and instead treat all blows as potentially lethal. But he was slightly immune. Having a Sith Alchemy Master for a wife kind of led you to experiments with Sith Poison.

That wound in his side would be debilitating, he knew. So he had to strike, and strike now.

Whipping his blades apart, he used a makeshift spin to create a blur of green in front of him. He was getting desperate, so he grew thick green gauntlets around his wrists, shredding the lower half of his loose sleeves to make room for the thick, thorny appendages. If the man wanted to make another wrist shot, he would have toxin-slathered thorns, dart-flinging sleeves, and two angry sabers bearing down on him.

As Varanin scrambled to move, his left shoulder wound up clipped by his opponents spinning saber, but not to severely. His arm would still work. Launching forward again, just as the man was beginning his transformations, Varanin sought to overload him while he was concentrating on his own form.

It was a risky move, but Varanin was a big guy. He was sure he would survive this. Throwing punch after punch, the young man continued raining blows at his midsection.
