And her name was Mary.
The woman who bore the child of such a strange combination. A shi-ido and a human? It was almost unheard of. If not it WAS unheard of.
Shi-idos themselves were notorious for keeping to themselves on a planet they insisted remained neutral. They would hide from the modern galaxy. Few ventured out. Few. Out of the handfuls of shi'idos to leave the safety of their home because they craved adventure was thyme. The father of, … this little monster. The two of them had been a rather poor couple. Hardly making ends meet on their own.
It was a heartbreaking decision to extend Rose to the Jedi almost like a gift. They were on the verge of losing everything. And the streets were not a place for what was only a three year old at this point. Still an infant. Part of the decision also came from the mother because she knew she would not live long enough to see her child to even young adulthood. After all, force users can live up to 10/25% longer years than any normal person could have because of her force sensitivity. Not to mention the questionable aging because of her hybridization.
Her father began to grow tired of how easily she was wounded. Deeming her a monstrosity to life because of her health issues. Including but not limited to. Pulling her muscles, bones and tissues sliding out of place and breaking said bones. The last straw was when she was injured by a rib fracturing and slipping out of place piercing a lung.
Not being able to afford her or much of anything else. After she recovered was when she was finally given to the Jedi. At first Rose didn't get it. She went willingly because she had assumed she would go back to her mother and father. But that didn't happen. And she had grown to accept that. And accepted the belief that they were doing the best for her.
When Rose had finally become old enough to take up her place as an apprentice to a Jedi she had been designated by the council to a man named Ezra Hinton.
At first the two got along very well. Though he worked hard with her to make her a better Padawan. The two seemed like the perfect team. Moving in unison. Like a dance they were together as one.
But one day the dance changed. It wasn't something they did together, it was something he was leading. Moving her how he wanted her to go. Training that was strict took a turn. It went from simple heavy expectations to abuse. Working her until collapse.

Her shapeshifting didn't get much better. While slip ups were no longer quite an issue it was still something she could but shouldn't have been able to do. Her body tearing itself apart breaking down and forming tears in her eyes as it felt like anytime she used this ability she was being murdered without the release of death.
Blood would drop from every orifice and every rip and tear that was made.
Extensive study has found that her bones are hollow allowing her body the ability to more easily shift and change them as she shapeshifts compared to regular bones. But not as easily as her father. The creatures who have been found to have no bones at all.
The reattachment of her muscles comes from the high emotional process of shape shifting. Much like cadaveric spasms. The previously sent messages from the brain to the muscles forces them to keep carrying on their jobs even if disconnected or torn. Stringy Specialized tendons help reconnect the tissue and her body is almost entirely and completely covered in them. The changing of her color comes from her shifting her melanin and other pigment causing substances around to different parts of her body. Her skin will wrap back around the flesh leaving her in the form she chooses. Though there may be some blood stains she might have to wash off.
Horns feathers and such can be created by compacting a large number of hairs. The creation of more hair or fur is caused by a sudden spike in androgens growth factor-β (TGF-β), which controls cell growth activity and will also highly spike promoting the extremely quick growth of hair and proteins such as muscles and flesh. Allowing any extra needed parts to form during the process.
