Roles To Play
A Character Creation Guide

The Iron Crusade offers a great variety of characters to write as and create a cohesive and thrilling narrative together. With the Galactic Empire and First Order as its central inspiration and point of origin in lore, as well as the New Imperial Order from Chaos lore as predecessor, there are a lot possibilities in terms of backgrounds, origins and of course, futures to develop.

Below listed are some, not all, of the most prominent character types that have been popular over many years of imperial roleplay. They are very much in line with the traditions, aesthetics and values of the Empire we are trying to portray and will offer plenty of hooks and opportunities to explore, expand and develop your character as part of a greater faction and story.

Stormtrooper Corps | Military
Frontline Soldiers of the Iron March

Play as a disciplined enforcer of Imperial order, trained to embody obedience, loyalty, and sacrifice. Whether a grizzled veteran of brutal campaigns or a fresh conscript seeking honor, Stormtroopers offer gritty, boots-on-the-ground military RP. Expect camaraderie, warzones, moral challenges, and harsh discipline. You are the face of the Empire’s might—unrelenting and unquestioning.

Imperial Navy | Military
Command the Empire’s Iron Tide

From proud captains to calculating strategists, Navy characters operate the great starships that project Iron-Imperial power across the stars. Naval RP focuses on duty, tactical excellence, and the prestige of serving in the Empire’s most intellectual and methodical branch. Expect space combat, political maneuvering, and the pressure of absolute expectations.

Iron Templars | Force Users
The Sword of the Throne

Imperial Knights are force-trained warriors who reject mysticism in favor of rigid discipline and loyalty to the Empire alone. They are paladins of order—austere, merciless, and indoctrinated. Ideal for players who want to explore the Force through a militarized, de-spiritualized lens. Great for RP heavy on philosophical tension, elite combat, and moral absolutism.

Yljp3N1.jpeg

Warlords | Political
Remnants of Order

The Warlords are all that is left of past Empires, holding tightly onto their domains as they are keeping to the values that they deem worth pursuing. This is the path for players who enjoy high-stakes political RP, intrigue, and managing the pressures of ruling in a totalitarian regime that is yet to centralise. Balancing loyalty to the Throne with personal ambition and managing unrest, rebellion, or corruption gives you ample narrative depth.

Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) | Agent and Intelligence
The Eyes of Order, The Knives in the Dark

Play as an intelligence officer, enforcer, or political commissar rooting out treason, inefficiency, and sedition. ISB RP leans into surveillance, interrogation, paranoia, and the moral greys of absolute loyalty. Ideal for spycraft, internal investigations, or ideological policing. You don’t just serve the Empire—you preserve it.

Imperial Special Forces | Military
Shadows of the Empire

Elite operators tasked with the most dangerous, classified, and deniable missions. Expect brutal realism, uncompromising loyalty, and close-knit brotherhood. Ideal for action-heavy RP with moral ambiguity and covert ops—assassinations, sabotage, deep infiltration. You are precision weapons in human form.

yRA0ziS.jpeg

Imperial Ministries | Political
The Bureaucratic Engine of Domination

Civilian roles in sectors like Education, Infrastructure, Energy, and Information offer a unique take on Imperial service. Ministry RP is perfect for players interested in worldbuilding, politics, administration, and the logistics of running a galactic regime. These characters uphold the Empire through planning, reform, and relentless efficiency—not blasters.

Corporate, Industrial & Megacorporate Operatives | Capitalist
Architects of the War Machine, Engines of Autarky

Play as the ruthless magnates, logistics lords, or state-aligned industrialists who ensure the Iron Empire's economic self-sufficiency and unbroken war production. Focused on autarky, efficiency, and technocratic dominance, your role is to keep the machine running—whether by monopolizing planetary industries, overseeing supply chains, or navigating the fine line between state loyalty and private ambition.

iOLr1U6.jpeg

Imperial Scientists & Technocrats | Science
Innovators of Control, Architects of Ascendancy

As part of the Empire’s cutting-edge research elite, you are tasked with developing next-generation technologies—military or civilian—that secure Imperial dominance across the stars. From superweapon prototypes and AI systems to planetary engineering and forbidden sciences, your allegiance is to progress, not principle; your work defines the very edge of control and conquest.

The Iron Order
Ideology & Government

The Iron Crusade stands as the next evolution of Imperial thought—a synthesis of the greatest strengths and harshest lessons of the Empires that came before. Born from fire, failure, and ambition, the Iron Empire does not merely carry the banner of Imperialism—it reforges it in cold steel, tempered through experience, sharpened into unbreakable will.

From the Galactic Empire, we inherit the clarity of vision: order as the highest good, central authority as the engine of civilization, and the eradication of chaos through overwhelming strength. The legacy of Palpatine's rule is not found in the man, nor in the Sith, but in the stability his regime once imposed on a fractured galaxy. The Iron Empire retains that clarity—without mysticism, without humano-centrism, without dependence on the supernatural. The Force serves the state—not the other way around.

From the First Order, we draw the will to ascend beyond defeat. Cast into the Unknown, it endured, restructured, and returned with vengeance. The Iron Empire embodies this same ruthless resilience, the belief that collapse is not death, but transformation. From the First Order's fervor and militancy, we take the iron spine of our foreign policy—dominate or be destroyed.

From the Fel Empire, we take the principle of Imperial loyalty beyond Force dogma. The Fel dynasty's Imperial Knights set precedent: Force users who serve the Throne and not the Force itself. That lineage lives on in the Iron Empire's own Imperial Knights—bound by oath, trained for war, emotionless and unwavering. They are soldiers first, zealots never. The Empire is their purpose; the Force is their weapon.

From the New Imperial Order, we inherit the spirit of military reform and modern meritocracy. The rebellion of the New Imperials against Sith tyranny proved that the Empire could evolve. Under Irveric Tavlar, the Empire learned to reward service over blood, to rebuild without mysticism, to unify shattered remnants under a single, iron will. The Iron Empire perfects this: no Sith, no cults, no force-fed ideology—only loyalty, pragmatism, and power.

The government of the fledgling Iron Empire is everything but a cohesive force, it is controlled by the Warlord Council which is lead by the Warmaster. While it strives for the unification and centralisation, it is right now being composed of the various leaders, commanders, industrialists and figures of influences that represent the Imperial faces across the Galaxy.

Ideologies

Tarkinism, Imperial Ultranationalism
With militarist authoritarianism as its foundation, the ideology relies on three core tenets: order, strength and hierarchy. Order will always prevail over liberties, strength is the only valid indicator for a state's prosperity and hierarchy is the natural system of societies. It is defined by the primacy of the Empire, rigid structure of its society and corporate statism.

Neo-Imperialism, Imperial Totalitarianism
Originating from the First Order, it is of a far more invasive and oppressive nature than Tarkinism while tolerating the practice of the the Dark side. The end justifies the means, the Empire claims sole legitimacy to rule over the Galaxy and absolute obedience and loyalty are primary tenets of Neo-Imperialism.

Iron-Imperialism, Imperial Fascism
The culmination of what came before, Iron-Imperialism sets its sights on absolute unity and a centralised state that is highly militarised and rewards service to the Empire. Promoting its benefits through a mixture of actual infrastructure and lawful security measures as well as repression and propaganda when necessary, it is meant to pull and keep citizens. Through a limited autarky by employing government-loyal corporations, it seeks independence from the willful and greedy machinations of large economic entities.

IMPERIAL ARMED FORCES
The Empire's Fist

OVERVIEW
The Imperial Armed Forces, often abbreviated as IMPAF, is the military of the Crusade. While it was originally one of the largest, best trained armies of the Galaxy, bound together by a common goal and vision, it is now a combination of veterans, recruits and conscripts from various backgrounds and allegiances that once more have to find their destiny as a military hegemony. IMPAF is given the mandate of safeguarding Imperial territories and enforcing the rule of the Iron Order on the scores of sovereign Imperial systems.

The Imperial Armed Forces answer directly to the Warmaster who serves as its Commander-In-Chief, while the Warlords control their individual forces and units. In a stage of decentralisation, it is neither uniformly supplied nor organised at this time, yet strives to return to that state. There is only one purpose in the Armed Forces and that is Imperial Restoration.

  • Iron Emperor: vacant
  • Warmaster: Imperius Indomitus Imperius Indomitus
  • Lord General of the Imperial Guard: vacant
  • Grand Admiral of the Imperial Navy: vacant
  • Allegiant-General of the Stormtrooper Corps: vacant

STORMTROOPER CORPS

The Stormtrooper Corps is the unyielding arm of the Emperor's justice, a symbol of discipline, loyalty, and absolute authority across the stars. Where the Empire extends its rule, stormtroopers follow. Where order falters, they restore it through fire and steel.

Forged in obedience and trained without mercy, the Stormtrooper Corps is not merely a military force - it is the embodiment of Imperial resolve. Each trooper is a weapon honed for war, bred to silence rebellion, crush resistance, and enforce the Emperor's command without hesitation or doubt.

They do not question. They do not falter. They do not fail. In the face of insurrection, they bring swift retribution. Against lawlessness, they are the implacable enforcers of the New Order. Their presence is a warning - that peace is not found in chaos, but in control.

Whether deployed in planetary suppression, urban pacification, or galactic warfare, the Stormtrooper Corps operates with brutal efficiency and total devotion. Clad in white armor, a visage of fear to the disloyal, they are the faceless legion that ensures the Empire's grip is never loosened.

To see a stormtrooper is to be reminded: the Empire is ever-present, ever-powerful, and utterly uncompromising.

IMPERIAL NAVY

The Imperial Navy is the backbone of the Galactic Empire, an ocean of steel and fire that spans the stars, securing Imperial supremacy in every system it touches. It is the shield of civilization and the spear of conquest, a force unmatched in scale, discipline, and might.

Where dissidents whisper of freedom, Star Destroyers descend. Where worlds defy order, orbital bombardments silence their cries. The Navy does not negotiate - it imposes. Its fleets are not mere warships, but instruments of doctrine, vessels of law, and harbingers of obedience.

Commanded by officers forged in discipline and bred for absolute loyalty, the Navy functions with machine-like precision. Every ship, from the smallest patrol craft to the titanic Executor-class dreadnoughts, operates in perfect synchrony, a flawless manifestation of Imperial authority.

The presence of a single Imperial vessel in orbit is enough to quell unrest. A fleet is enough to erase a world from history. The Navy ensures trade routes remain under Imperial control, quarantines unrest before it spreads, and projects power with uncompromising resolve.

It is not glory they seek, but order. Not conquest for ambition's sake, but dominion in service to peace, a peace defined by the Emperor's will.

To challenge the Navy is to challenge the Empire itself and the stars offer no refuge from its reach.

IMPERIAL GUARD

The Imperial Guard is the hammer of the Empire - a relentless engine of war designed to seize worlds, suppress populations, and grind all resistance beneath its tread. Where diplomacy fails and orbital might proves insufficient, it is the soldiers of the Imperial Army who descend to impose the Emperor's will with calculated brutality and unwavering force.

Numberless, disciplined, and utterly loyal, the Army marches not for glory, but for order. Its regiments are forged in the fires of doctrine and driven by a singular purpose: to secure the peace of the New Order through absolute control. From mechanized infantry to armored divisions, artillery regiments to planetary garrisons, the Imperial Army brings structure to chaos and subjugation to rebellion.

They do not ask questions. They do not hesitate. They advance with the certainty of command and the authority of the Emperor himself. Every action is sanctioned. Every strike, righteous. Every death, a necessity in the name of stability.

Whether deployed to pacify unruly sectors, occupy hostile territories, or exterminate insurrectionist elements, the Imperial Army answers the call with overwhelming force and cold efficiency. Their banner is fear, their doctrine is discipline, and their mission is eternal vigilance.

The tread of Imperial walkers, the thunder of massed artillery, the synchronized advance of faceless soldiers, these are the instruments through which the Empire secures its dominion, and through which resistance is not merely defeated, but erased.

The Imperial Guard does not occupy; it corrects. It does not conquer; it restores order. It is not an army of men, it is the will of the Empire, made manifest in steel and fire.

SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND

The Imperial Special Operations Command is the invisible dagger of the Empie - precise, silent, and utterly merciless. Where the Stormtrooper Corps enforces Imperial will through presence, the Special Forces act through annihilation. They are the elite, genetically enhanced, psychologically conditioned, and tactically perfected. When conventional forces are insufficient, when a situation demands not numbers but precision, the Empire dispatches its most lethal instruments.

Death Troopers are death incarnate, towering, black-armored specters engineered beyond human limitation. Clad in encrypted silence, they eliminate high-value targets, neutralize command structures, and operate as personal enforcers for the Empire's most ruthless commanders. Their presence signifies that diplomacy has ended and eradication has begun.

Storm Commandos are the ghosts of the battlefield. Masters of infiltration, sabotage, and asymmetrical warfare, they strike from shadows and vanish into them. Where resistance festers, they sew chaos and fear, collapsing rebellions from within. Their allegiance is absolute, their loyalty unbreakable, they are invisible executioners, wielding discretion with the precision of a scalpel.

Shock Troopers are the iron fist of immediate repression, deployed in the crucible of urban combat, riot suppression, and rapid-response assaults. Heavily armed, fearlessly aggressive, and deployed in brutal efficiency, they serve as the Empire's answer to insurrection before it can take root. Their appearance signals not justice, but vengeance.

Together, these forces form the Empire's most elite division: disciplined beyond comprehension, fanatically loyal, and utterly devoid of mercy. They do not operate within the rules of war - they are the reason those rules exist. They are not soldiers. They are instruments of surgical terror, sent only when failure is not an option.

When the Special Forces arrive, there is no negotiation. There is no resistance. There is only silence.

IMPERIAL SECURITY BUREAU
Eyes of Order

The galaxy festers with lies, treachery, and ambition run amok. In this era of fractured dominions and subversive powers, where soft influence and hybrid warfare corrode the foundations of order, one force stands vigilant in defense of Imperial unity - the Imperial Security Bureau.

The ISB is the unwavering blade and the unseen eye of the Empire, operating both within and beyond its borders. Through calculated surveillance, infiltration, subversion, and surgical elimination, the Bureau extinguishes threats before they metastasize. It is not mere intelligence - it is preemptive justice delivered with precision and finality.

But the ISB's vigilance does not end at the frontier. Among the citizenry, it is the ever-present enforcer of Imperial doctrine. It ensures that loyalty is more than a word - it is a daily act of devotion. Sedition, dissent, and deviation are crushed without hesitation. Law and order are not requested; they are imposed.

The Bureau sees all and is seen by none. Through its shadowed guardianship, the Empire is preserved. Through its hand, peace is enforced. Through its will, the dream of an eternal Empire becomes unassailable reality.

COMPNOR
The Engine of Unity
The Commission for the Preservation of the New Order (COMPNOR), is an ideological organization committed to furthering the aims and influence of the New Order. COMPNOR's ideals are revered by its supporters, thus acceptance is exceptionally selective and reserved for only the most loyal and dedicated to the New Order.

The mission of COMPNOR is to promote the New Order set of ideals within and without, maintain and advance the identity of the government, and protect the interests of the Empire and its citizenry through:

  • Supporting and ensuring the advancement of the New Order ideology through political activities within the New Imperial Order and across the galaxy;
  • Nurturing and spreading New Imperial culture through a mix of organizations, policies, programs and supervision of information;
  • Forging and maintaining diplomatic relations aiming to strengthen relationships with foreign governments and organizations

COMPNOR vigorously works to instill the ideology of the New Order into the lives and constitution of galactic citizenry. As one of the largest entities of Imperial bureaucracy, COMPNOR blueprints and furthers the Imperial way of life by influencing various aspects of it - youth education, arts, sciences, law enforcement, and even functions of the Imperial Armed Forces.

IMPERIAL SECURITY FORCES

The Imperial Security Force is the military wing of COMPNOR and the ISB, dedicated to be an army of utterly loyal soldiers to the Imperial separate from the Armed Forces. They are an elite, fully-volunteer force with extremely selective recruitment. It comprises completely loyal members motivated primarily by conscious adherence to the tenets of the New Order. Designed to tighten and enforce the grip of the New Order ideology, they are the primary executioners of Imperial justice. Now they serve as tactical detachments for domestic compliance efforts as well as black ops against outside threats.

Tactical Command
Every COMPNOR and ISB office or station has tactical units stationed, for both security and compliance duties. These squads are well trained in handling riots, close quarters combat and protecting both the personnel of the bureaus as well as their ideology.

Assault Forces Command
Those soldiers that do not only excel at the duties of domestic preservation but also in their total allegiance to the Empire, can be selected to join the Assault Forces Command, the covert arm of the ISB and COMPNOR to deal with foreign threats. Special and Black Operations soldiers selected and trained to enforce the will of the Empire against its enemies in their territory. The AFC is often at odds with the military special forces, maintaining a strong rivalry.

CIVADMIN
The Silent Workhorse

The Imperial Civil Administration is the spine of the Galactic Empire, a vast, unyielding apparatus that governs trillions with calculated efficiency and iron discipline. While the Navy secures the stars and the Army pacifies the ground, it is the Civil Administration that ensures the Empire endures, not through force, but through absolute control of policy, people, and perception.

It is through the Civil Administration that laws are written, worlds are catalogued, taxes are levied, and populations are shaped into obedient instruments of the New Order. From planetary governors to sector moffs, from regional tribunals to the vast datavaults of Coruscant, every cog of this machine serves one unifying goal: total compliance.

Dissent is not tolerated. Disorder is not permitted. The Administration identifies problems before they emerge, roots out inefficiency wherever it festers, and ensures that all citizens - from Outer Rim laborers to Core World elites, serve the greater whole of the Empire.

Education is restructured into indoctrination. Culture is regulated. History is rewritten in the Emperor's image. Public messaging is unified, carefully crafted to eliminate doubt and instill loyalty. To live under the Civil Administration is to be guided, monitored, and shaped into a citizen worthy of Imperial peace.

But make no mistake, the Civil Administration is not soft. Beneath its bureaucratic exterior lies a steel will reinforced by the constant oversight of the Imperial Security Bureau. Those who underperform, resist quotas, or question doctrine are subject to immediate disciplinary correction, reeducation, or removal.

To defy the Civil Administration is not merely to break the law, it is to oppose the Empire itself.

It is through meticulous governance, unwavering hierarchy, and the suppression of disorder that the Imperial Civil Administration turns chaos into civilization, and free beings into loyal subjects of an eternal Empire.

IDARD
Legacy, Vision

The Imperial Department of Advanced Research and Development (IDARD) stands as the Empire's most secretive and intellectually lethal institution - a think tank turned war machine, where science is unshackled from morality and innovation is weaponized in service of galactic domination. Born from the ashes of the Imperial Department of Military Research and the crucible of the Tarkin Initiative, IDARD is the natural evolution of the Empire's doctrine of absolute technological supremacy.

IDARD's mandate is clear: dominance through advancement. It answers not to planetary governors or moffs, but directly to the throne. It is here that the frontier of knowledge is pushed not for enlightenment, but for enforcement. Every theory is tested in fire. Every discovery is evaluated by its capacity to suppress rebellion, monitor the masses, and obliterate resistance before it can speak.

The Death Star was only the beginning. From orbital annihilation platforms to hyperspace-based superweapons, from Force-reactive experimentation to advanced AI-controlled battle fleets, IDARD carries forward the brutal vision of Governor Tarkin, the cybernetic obsessions of Galak Fyyar, and the cold tactical refinement of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Biological enhancement programs, psychological warfare systems, forbidden energy research, nothing is out of bounds when the survival of Imperial order is at stake.

Personnel within IDARD are drawn from the most brilliant minds in the galaxy and stripped of autonomy. They serve not science, but order. Loyalty is ensured by layered surveillance, deep compartmentalization, and, when necessary, termination protocols. Failure is not tolerated. Whistleblowers are not acknowledged. There are no saboteurs, only test subjects.

IDARD does not innovate for peace. It innovates for obedience.

In every sector, in every war, in every shadow where the Empire's control is tested, it is IDARD's unseen hand that turns impossible odds into absolute victory. Its tools are terror. Its doctrine is precision. Its purpose is simple: ensure that no enemy, no matter how advanced, can ever surpass the might of the Galactic Empire.
