PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

a man of stronger convictions than what is useful in his profession, Roark draws a a deft and thick line between himself and the scum. He wants to be free to do as he pleases and what he feels is right without interference from either from politics or some crime lord. Deep down he is an idealist who believes that all beings are equal and deserve a fair chance in life. He´ll just never admit it.

Roark has a keen taste for cigarras and brandy but given his profession and lifestyle it is doubtful that either thing will be the cause of his death.

Objective(s): Buy off his debts while dodging all the scum jobs being offered to him, buy a cantina with a long polished hardwood bar and play the Kloo horn

Quote(s): (to customs officer): "Dear sir, what do you mean with contraband? I´m just a honest trader trying to make ends meet."

"Of course I have the credits. The courier is on his way."

"I don´t do no slave runs. And you better haul jets now ... friend."

STRENGTHS

One man crew: since most really hardboiled criminals scoff at Roark´s smuggling ethics (no spice, no slaves – see weaknesses below) he is used to flying along which makes him both a crack pilot,a skilled astrogator and a decent mechanic

Cantina Hopping: Roark grew up in a cantina between drinks, Sabacc tables and music stages, he cn blend into a cantina and find work as a bartender, gambler and musician

WEAKNESSES

In debt: Roark owes 25k credits to the crime lord Leebo the Rodian and his installments are overdue Word in the spaceports is, that Ploovo has dispatched a pair of Thrandoshan enforcers to collect his debt and "persuade" Roark to accept some lucrative smuggling runs (lucrative for Ploovo that is) – or else

Heart of Gold (not credits): Roark has a strong sense of what is right or wrong(not necessarily legal) and a soft spot for sob stories, all qualities that are downright dangerous in his profession, earning him the moniker "dumbest smuggler in the galaxy"

HISTORY

Roark´s father was a Kloo Horn player and his mother a singer. As a kid he went from rags to moderate riches and back while his parents went from street performers to cantina owners and back. When they died in
the blaster crossfire between a bounty hunter and his unwilling prey the orphaned boy was taken in by a friend of his father the old Hawk Ion who owned a speeder repair shop and operated a flourishing alcohol distillery in his garage as well.

Young Roark learned to deal with Hawk´s customers both those who came by daylight for an engine overhaul and those who came by night
for a barrel of homebrew rotgut. He met pirates, mercenaries, grizzled spacers and smugglers and soaked up every yarn they had to spin about their adventures and the wonders out there in space.

Although legally a slave, Roark was treated well by Hawk and even got a split (if a very small one) of the profits his owner/mentor made. When Roakr was eighteen he had saved enough credits and learned enough skills to part ways with Hawk and became a space hand on a smuggler ship.

The life he found was more grim and gritty than adventurous; backroom deals, bribes, threats and when someone had a score
to settle he didn´t duel with you in the middle of the street. He shot you in the back from a safe distance. But Roark found
something else too, rare moments when there was honor among thieves and when you felt more alive than ever because you were
running from an Imperial customs frigate with blaster bolts flying by left and right. Roark knew there was no way he could
ever live a normal life and draw moisture from Tatooine´s atmosphere.

So he learned the trade as good as he could, became a skilled pilot and navigator, running blockades and sneaking through
planetary backdoors.

He and his Besalisk captain Pat Kriall always delivered the goods as they say. That was until Captain Kriall ended up on the bad side of the Hutt Cartel. He and Roark quickly parted ways, got the hell out of Nar Shadaa and tried to make themselves as invisible as possible.

But invisible does not pay for your food and after drifting through the spaceports of several planets Roak got back into the smuggling business and had to borrow money from the crime boss Leebo to stay in business. The only difference now is that Leebo doesn´t leave a Hutt´s slime trail behind wherever he goes so Roark looks for opportunities to sever that business connection as fast as he can. goes so Roark looks for opportunities to sever that business connection as fast as he can.
