OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

Intent: To flesh out some of the ideas behind RMIA and Ardgal's progression as a character
Role: Elite Strike Force
Links: Yuuzhan Vong, RMIA
GENERAL INFORMATION

Unit Name: Ho'ino Koa (Cursed Troops)
Affiliation: Ardgal, RMIA.
Classification: Infantry Strike Force
Equipment:

Description: These troops are striking, to say the least, and very confusing to the average on-looker. They are clearly Yuuzhan Vong, but also they clearly have no problem interacting with the humans around them.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
Unit Size: Medium
Unit Availability: Uncommon
Unit Experience: Trained
Combat Function: The Ho'ino Koa are best described as "Shock troopers." When the Godkillers would be overkill, or when a conscripted volunteer would clearly not do the job, the Koa are called or sent in. Because of their status as Vong, they are naturally gifted for taking out or fighting against Force Users. Often they can be called on or hired to serve as guards against captive force users, or as ground troops especially dropped in to fight against Jedi or Sith on the ground. They move quickly, travel light, and are efficient in their over-land travel.

Strengths:
  • Force Dead: The Koa are Vong through and through, thus they are Force dead.
  • Trained: The Koa are trained soldiers able to take orders and fight in a coordinated fashion. Sometimes all it takes is a little extra training and ability to work together in order to bring down that one guy who refuses to die....
  • Fast Travel: The Koa are exceptionally good at moving quickly over virtually any terrain. Their physical conditioning allows them out out pace most other foot units with ease.

Weaknesses:
  • Technology: While the Koa are more progressive than most, they refuse to use technology. Koa would rather die than be airdropped in traditional drop ship made of metal or use anything that isn't vong tech. This can be super problematic when you are attempting a tactical extraction and half your forces refuse to step on the exit vehicle or when the injured would literally rather die than undergo surgery...
  • Vong: Other vong see the Koa as a shame to their beliefs. The Koa have broken the caste system, so unless the Vong are super progressive--they will probably try to kill them.
  • Vong tech: Vong tech have their own weaknesses such as Boffar spores and what not. The Koa's equipment is subject to these.
  • Stealth: The Koa do not do stealth tactics, they are typical infantry units.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

When Ardgal inevitably took the colony expedition from Yornekk to Pzob gave the colony exposure to a more progressive lifestyle, there came Vong youths who desired something more than their typical caste system. Both from the initial colony and from the original Yornekk, both sides wanted anything they could do to get rid of these free-thinking individuals. The last thing they wanted was to watch as their world was suddenly shifted by this outside excursion.

Ardgal offered them a way out; a chance to break from the caste system into something different in exchange for their service as troops for RMIA. He, of course, could always use more troops and if they were Vong, then that was just bonus points, right? Each of these Vong troops were sent through typical training--or as close to typical as he could get for them. Even though the Koa wanted something different than the caste system could offer them, they weren't interested in forgetting and forgoing their entire culture and religion. So, Ardgal found himself in a unique situation. Every one of the Koa require special transportation, food, and equipment that will not go against their religious and cultural views.

All in all, they are just typical Vong soldiers.
