OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a capital ship-grade armor-piercing shell.
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: x
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Armor-Piercing Shell
  • Size: Very Large
  • Weight: Very Heavy
  • Explosive Type: Kuradium Warhead
  • Delivery Method: Fired
  • Effective Range: Battlefield
  • Area Of Effect: Personal
  • Stopping Power: Extreme
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Flow lines across the surface of the metal and the ballistic design of the tin cap allow for an aerodynamic design that emphasizes round velocity. This makes firing the RMAP-BC22 over long ranges very accurate as well as giving it enough speed to break through most conventional armor hulls.
STRENGTHS
  • Armor-Piercing: The RMAP-BC22 has the potential to pierce armor of nearly any calibre when fired at a fast-enough velocity, and can deal massive amounts of damage to whatever starship is in its crosshairs.
WEAKNESSES
  • Not a Flyswatter: The RMAP-BC22 is a large round that is imprecise when it comes to firing against small ships that are starfighter or freighter sized, or even corvettes that have a high enough speed.
DESCRIPTION
A more heavy-duty ordnance than its smaller-calibre counterparts, the 320mm RMAP-BC22 Armor-Piercing Shell is a new type of ammunition made by Roble Manufacturing that is designed primarily to be an ordnance that can be used against vehicles and other heavily-armored targets. Unlike most conventional ordnances, the RMAP sacrifices an explosive area-of-effect for the capability to punch through nearly any grade of ship hull, mainly due to its aerodynamic design and high velocity potential when fired. When used against the target, the armor-piercing shell is designed to rip through a ship's hull at high speeds causing great amounts of both external and internal damage, which is amplified by a small Kuradium charge. Overall, the RMAP-BC22 is an effective and powerful shell that can deal great amounts of damages against enemy starships.

the soft tin ap of the RMAP-BC22 cushions the impact of the shell, preventing the round from shattering upon impact or combusting prematurely.

Hate to put this to yah, but Caps actually make the Armor Piercing ability of rounds worse. Armor piercing rounds are meant to be streamlined, and be has hard/durable as they possibly can be. Typically some companies will reduce the amount of led in them so the bullet itself is "Full jacket" to increase its penetration power. Caps are used in Self defense rounds so then it allows the bullet to "Mushroom" more effectively and do more damage to flesh targets.

As soon as that cap hits whatever you are aiming at, it adds another layer to what you are trying to break through, and makes it harder for the shell to break through the armor. In fact, you want your shell to fragment when hitting the target so then it can do more damage.

Any mention of preventing it from fragmenting would make the round let potent.
