PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Riya Pashen is a resilient, fiercely independent young lieutenant whose personality was forged in abandonment, the brutal survival of Tatooin’s fringes, and an improbable rise through sheer determination. She is relentlessly driven, refusing to quit no matter the odds, and possesses a clever, pragmatic mind sharpened by years of scavenging, mechanics, and quick thinking under pressure—often expressed with dry wit and a non-nonsense “make it work” attitude. Beneath her quiet pride and self-reliance lies a deep-seated cynicism and guarded nature; trust does not come easily after a lifetime of betrayal and exploitation, making her wary of strangers and quick to bristle at entitlement or unearned authority to her point of view. Yet this hardness is tempered by profound gratitude and a fierce sense of personal debt to the High Republic, which gave her citizenship, purpose, and a second chance she never expected. This loyalty inspires unwavering patriotism and a commitment to its ideals of freedom, merit, and redemption.

In essence, Riya is a tough, sharp-edged scrapper—aloof and independent at first glance, but capable of fierce, ride-or-die devotion once trust is earned, always striving to prove her worth and repay the one real kindness the galaxy ever showed her.

HISTORY

Riya was born from a one-night stand between a merchant broker and a bartender in Ro Station. As soon as she was born, Riya was left behind in a run-down orphanage in the slums of the settlement. Her early childhood was rough, surviving day by day, feeding on the scraps left by those who barely noticed her. Eventually, she was desperate enough that at age nine years old, she stowed away on a supply freighter that tragically crashed on Tatooine rotations.

She was grievously injured and would've died if she had not been found by a band of Jawas who were scavenging the site. They nursed back to health, although not without a price. Riya would work for them to "clear her debt." For the next few years, she did, learning to do droid maintenance and their language and carrying out repairs on the sandcrawler. Of course, at fourteen years old, she managed to carry enough credits to pay off the debt(though knowing they raised the price twice as much as before).

She ended up in Anchorhead, becoming a freelance mechanic, working around town and part-time as a racer on a swoop bike. She was making a living, and yet Riya felt unfulfilled there and wanted more in life. One day, when she turned seventeen years old, she stumbled upon a Naboo military officer fighting with some thugs in an alleyway. She saved his life by clubbing one of them who nearly knifed him in the back. Grateful for the save the officer took, Riya and they managed to elude the remaining thugs together.

Indebted and impressed by the youth, the officer offered her a chance to leave Tatooine at last, and she accepted the deal readily. Brought to Naboo, she was made a citizen and enrolled in a local military academy due to the officer's influence. Riya Pashen struggled with her new surroundings, yet she persisted, proving herself to be a tough, hard-working, clever soldier, specializing in armor warfare. She graduated fourth in her class with the rank of lieutenant, being assigned to the newly formed 12th Armored Division "the Krayt Ironbacks".
