Rising Tide "Imperium assault on Kashyyyk" Imperium vs Republic

Among the darkness of the galaxy the balance of power shifts like a river over time. It curves through time ever changing directions as it seeks the best path through any and all obstacles ever seeking the ocean. Power can make a man or break him. It is forever changing and never will it be enough for the ambitious. The man seeking fame and prestige needs nothing more than for his name to be known. The man seeking money or wealth needs nothing but his coffers full. The man seeking joy and happiness needs nothing more than someone to love. Power, true power is sought by the man forever wanting more. Any power achieved by this man will never sate his desire, his hunger for more power. This man will forever be changing, like the river through time, constantly seeking power when and where he can find it. Taking it from the happy, the rich and the famous as he pleases. Ripping power from any who have it leaving a trail of destruction and sorrow in his path. Joran Greth is such a man, his eyes see only what he can take, what he can pry from the weak. He does not look back upon what he has or had as the case currently was. The past was behind him now, nothing there would help him forge his Empire. Nothing behind him will help him take what he needed to sate his hunger. His family gone, the old Empire gone, everything behind him now a dull reminder of his failures and his own weakness. Now as the tide changed once again, He and the Imperium will ride the waves of time and once again grab power for the Empire.

En route to Kashyyyk

Greth stood over the hologram looking down at a map of the jungle world of Kashyyyk. The outline displayed the landing zone and the nearby targets in detail. The world had been the setting of many battles throughout time, and today would just be one more battle for the homeworld of the wookiee's. They were the target after all. The Imperium needed a labor force and Wookies made good pack animals. Colonel Tagge stood across from him laying out the mission for the assembled commanders and gave each their missions. The assault would be one of strict time constraints as the nearby Republic fleet would not take long to respond to any distress call from the world. Tagge finished his briefing and excused the commanders to prepare for battle. Greth watched as his men left then walked around the table to stand beside Tagge.

"Colonel, I want your men in and out in less than an hour. I do not want to deal with any reinforcements the Republic may send. Also, I have no desire to smell those filthy creatures so have them loaded onto the Paladin. Also, Colonel if possible, I would like a trophy from this world. Please try to bring me a shrubbery." said waiting for the man to respond. Tagge nodded with a "Yes Sir" then he too walked out of the bridge to prepare for the assault. Greth turned and watched as the star lines of hyperspace disappeared and the green world of Kashyyyk came into view before him. The clock was now ticking as the Imperium pulled back the curtain it had been hiding behind and now made itself know to the Republic. The war had begun now and The Imperium would be on the tounges of everyone in the Republic.

Colonel Tagge left the bridge and walked down the short hallway to the bank of lifts. He thought about what Greth had asked for. A shrub? why did the man want a plant? it made no sense to him, but nothing Greth ever wanted made any sense. He was at best deranged and at worst a sociopathic killer, Tagge knew the latter was more likely. The iift closed and he forced himself to stop thinking about Greth's tree and put his mind to purpose. He had alittle over sixty minutes to take an assault force down to Kashyyk, grab as many giant furballs as he can, and get back to the ship. It was an impossible chore but one Greth had ordered and he had planned. If it did not work it would be blamed on him. Of that he was sure.

The lift same to a stop on the upper hanger deck and Tagge stepped out into a world of confusion and frantic preparations. The small attack force was nearly ready but behind schedule. That was something they could not afford. The Chief was standing on a raised lift shouting orders to crews loading weapons and ordinance onto the transports and fighters. His men had been the reason for the delay and the Chief knew his ass was in a bind. Greth would be very unaccepting of his inability to perform his job in the impossible time limit Greth had given them. Tagge would not report the man if he could help it. HE too had just barly gotten his men together and ready in time. The Chief was working to get his motivated and that . in his mind, was enough to keep the man's skin on his body.

"Chief, we will go with what's loaded we have to launch now." said Tagge as he walked up beside the man. The Chief of the boat looked down on him and saluted. "Yes sir" he said to Tagge then began shouting at his men once again. "Pull everything back you bastards, get out of the way before you get fried. You all are miserable excesses for sailors, I want everyone in bay twelve for PT drills. You will not fail me again" shouted the Chief. Tagge snickered and walked past the now retreating flight crews to his transport. HE walked up and climbed into the command pod of his walker and strapped him. HE heard the hiss of the door pressurizing behind him and sat back and relaxed for the first time in days. The trip down would be rocky but it would be the only rest he would get anytime soon. "Sixty minutes" he said to himself as the mech transport shuttered and launched into space.

There was a small look of disdain in some fo the fighting... she wasn't opposed to the killing but she preferred a show of strength and cunning. That usually led to her at least approaching others and going after them head on when she finished strapping and sealing her armor with a nod of her head. She secured her bow and blade on her back walking to join what would be the troopers on the ground leaving the smal zenji needle in her ponytail at the tip to handle enemies as a last moment attack in desperation. "Is all in readiness." She wasn't certain what the Imperium had in terms of force users but she could work with it and if she was alone then she could go and target the jedi to handle and shut down some of those force users. A small dagger and to fight some wookiees she had a few ideas with force enhanced strength and speed as well as a well placed bow shot of super heated plasma to the head. "I'll be going groundside."

The republic was at work with some new things, Katagiri using her new position had brought in some products that were being tested from sasori to test them in one of the most dangerous places in the galaxy. The shadowlands were a dangerous place as she was working with the wookiee's in the testing and reconstruction of the mesh itself. She could feel the aura of it as it provided some of them protection from her force abilities that she was able to do. It wasn't much but the synthweaved protection was holding as she pushed the force energies into it to test the levels of resistance and care. Then there were sounds in the small facility as klaxons sounded that something had come, not republic soldiers and well aside from dumb things trying to instigate. She spoke staying where she was and nodding to some of the wookiee's with her. Send what alerts you can, I don't know how many soldiers we have to work on things and defend. We are prepared for somethings here near the shadowlands. Start luring them in and through."

Admiral Lash watched as the two Victory destroyers began launching their assault forces. The two ships had been the only two destroyers originally scheduled for the attack, the Harrow had been a late addition and this operation would be its final break in cruise. The vessel resembled the Victory destroyers but had a much different command structure this resembled the Imperators and the atmospheric stabilizers had been replaced with large capacitor banks and moved forward. The vessel was a departure from the standard Star Destroyer in it was not multi-role. It did not house any fighter craft or troop complement. It instead mounted weapons meant to decimate other vessels. It was a true Anti-ship vessel and it was well suited for the job. Lash grinned as he saw republic ships coming over the world's horizon. It seemed the Harrow would get the live fire test he had hoped for

"Captain, please begin plotting fire solutions on the enemy vessels as the come over the world. Tage them and begin threat assessments on each." said Lash to the Chiss man standing next to him. The Harrow was the latest creation of the Imperium Forge Works and was the first major project of the newly formed corporate arm of the Imperium. The might ship would test its power against the Republic and its forces. Today the word Harrow would be know throughout the galaxy.

Part of being a Jedi meant diplomacy and Dune could honestly say that he enjoyed it. Not as much as researching some academic subject nor pondering the mysteries of the Universe but it beat fighting. Even a less than friendly exchange's daggers were only metaphorical. However, being on Kashyyk had been a pleasure for the Bith.

The Wookies had been steadfast friends and allies of the Republic as long as any of them could remember. Wookies had especially long memories at that. Their honesty and straightforward manner was refreshing as they'd hashed out the details of another trade agreement. It was simple: you laid out your desires and they their own and you dealt fairly and honestly.

It had only been the work of a few hours, mainly deciding upon minutia, a protocol droid translating for the Bith. He regretted that he did not understand the native language of their giant friends and he lacked the proper vocal chords to even attempt more than a simple 'hello'. The Jedi rather admired the Wookies for their honesty, having had dealings with Neimodians, Hutts and other less scrupulous beings. It was sometime in the later afternoon that found the crainiopod on an open platform on a huge roshyr, enjoying the sublime natural symphony of the jungles around them.

He could hear as well as any Wookie, even better actually, hearing higher and lower frequencies than even their hunter's senses could. The Bith could also smell the scents of the surrounding vegetation, a musky scent of vegetation both new and old. He heard the protocol droid well before it drew close enough to speak. "Yes, D-4TO?," he asked without turning from his study of the verdant wilderness, so different from his own native domed city on Clak'dor VII.

The droid started, a programmed mannerism, before speaking in it's cultured Coruscanti accent. "Sir, the evening repast will soon be served. Our hosts wonder if you will attend."

Dune finally turned from his study of the towering roshyr trees to face the silver plated droid. "Of course I'll attend," he replied knowing that it would be impolite to refuse hospitality. "Please tell Chieftan Lowaddik that I'm admiring the roshyr trees and will be back inside shortly."

The droid bowed it's head, turning to shuffle back inside the wooden domicile. He turned back to face the jungle, this time directing his attention to the Wookies across the way, bustling about on the business of their day. As a Bith, he couldn't see in the same detail as they could, so they were more outlines than anything but he could hear them and their quiet footfalls, hear their exchanges of speech in shyriiwook with it's gutteral grunts and howls. A wonderful place, so full of life and history, he thought as he turned to himself walk back towards the huge common hall.
