A CHALLENGER APPEARS FOR THE IMPERIAL THRONE
After the hard-fought Battle of Dagobah, the catalyst for the Great Galactic War, the Empire reels from several subsequent attacks from enemies both veteran and newly-formed. The departure of Grand Moff Graf and appointment of Gromm Cardan as Grand Admiral of the Imperial Navy has seen a steady rise in both the Empire's efforts to combat the Galactic Alliance and its expansion in Wild Space as Graf leaves military service and focuses entirely on governing the Empire.
Mysteriously; The Emperor, with approval from the grand moff, has ordered Cardan and his fleets to return to Imperial space after a months-long campaign in the Mid Rim ending with a decisive victory near Naalol. The meaning behind this decision is still unknown, but rumour has it that star systems outside of the Empire's control will soon play host to an Imperial garrison.
During the beginning stages of the War and the restructuring of the Imperial military, a relatively unknown but nevertheless experienced admiral commanded his fleet to seize an outlying sector of Imperial space, proclaiming himself the 'True Warlord of the Empire'. Grand Moff Graf has thus far denounced this man as a traitor and nothing more than 'another pretender wishing to carve up his own fiefdom'. Still, expeditionary squadrons destined to scout out and destroy this warlord's forces have yet to return...
