SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Rat Blade. Thick Chainblade with trademark Ripper Rat and Rat Pack insignias. Cortosis-weave bonding with sharp Mullinine blade makes for a lethal combination, and although dueling a lightsaber opponent would be difficult with a gun, you can certainly block strikes from an opponent or charge into one. The entire barrel end of the gun is bonded with weave as well as the chain blade. The trigger to fire the blade up or turn it off is accessed easily with the stabilizing hand.
  • Gang Violence Not vibrating at dangerous speeds like a vibroblade, the Ripper Rat does have the effect of looking more menacing. Chewing up most metal effectively given the weave and sharp mullinine bonded metal combination. This lethal display makes it appealing to street gangs and underworld groups looking to intimidate and solve problems before they start.
  • Sonic Wave Concussive. Explosive concussive shots, both deafen and explode concussively against surfaces including lightsabers, making this weapon lethal against force users. Being a sonic payload, it does have slightly less range than you'd expect from a blaster rifle built for longer range combat, giving blaster models the distance edge in a shootout.
  • Durable. Heavy, acting as a melee weapon, it not only has weight to its blows but durability and steadiness when blocking.
  • Holosights. Holographic emitters give a targeting sight with 2, 5, 10, 20, 40 or 80 times magnification, adjusted on the side of the blaster. Manual iron sights are also available at the end of the barrel and the scope can be swapped out with a custom design.
STRENGTHS
  • Melee Capable. Able to stand up to several lightsaber strikes with cortosis-weave which is bonded with much of the front of the gun, as well as the blade itself. It is great for striking an opponent up close or defending a charging opponent if you lack a blade. You probably won't be dueling like a sword but you can pack a punch.
  • Explosive Concussion. Sonic Wave rounds not only deafen opponents but explode concussively against armor, flesh or lightsabers, making them lethal against many force users. Armors generally benefit from either Kinetic or Blaster resistance but rarely are developed for both, or concussive sonic wave explosions specifically. Causing some damage to almost all armors and unshielded ears, few people are immune.
  • Custom Sights. Offering a few options for aiming. Manual Iron Sights, up to factor 80 magnification on a holosight at the end of the barrel, or a custom-fitted scope of your own.
WEAKNESSES
  • Just a weave. Bonded Cortosis-Weave doesn't short out lightsaber weapons like full cortosis ore.
  • Heavy load. The weight helps stabilize the gun for blocking in melee, not so much while carrying or transporting it.
  • Primary Weapon. The edges of this weapon make carrying it as a spare on your back or shoulder difficult and dangerous, the weight only adds to this issue.
  • Minimum Range. This has a good range, fires fast and deafens people. If you are firing the gun at very close range, the person if deafens could be you. It should also be noted in a matchup, that a sonic gun typically won't fire as far as blasters that are specialized for long-range combat.
  • Thick Armor Thick armor can get the chainblade stuck or jammed in place. A wall is a good example of where this might happen, a vehicle or power armor are other possible hindrances.
DESCRIPTION

Shoot, Shout, and Smash. Three things people often need to do in life. What better way to go than combine everything into one package. Screaming Sonic rounds backed up by a fast-moving chainblade.

The Ripper Rat spits out sonic wave concussive rounds to explode into its victims at long range, which isn't as far as a blaster built for long-range firefights might shoot, but it is still a good distance on this model. The deafening sonic weapon is violent against lightsaber users with unshielded ears, as sonic wave energy explodes on contact rather than going around or being blocked by a lightsaber, causing a mess for many duelists. Additionally, the explosive nature of the weapon against armor generally means a balanced mix of explosive kinetic and energy resistance is needed, and fewer armors specialize in both or defending against concussive rounds specifically.

Gangs like to make shows of force. A show can stop a confrontation before it begins. In the language of intimidation, a chainblade goes a long way to an impressionable set of eyes. Most people on the street prefer a vibroblade, it's cheap, it's low maintenance and it's effective. Sometimes though you need to make a show, and this does just that. It does tend to rip and tear rather than slice on armor, sometimes snagging in thick armor and getting stuck.

A large black weapon, bulky and thick, fitted with comfortable Sullust leather grips. The chainblade is fitted under the supporting handgrip, and runs along the barrel., it can be activated easily by the supporting hand. The large central power cell is good for about 150 shots before needing a recharge. Ripper Rats are a Zann Consortium pirate crew that are in fierce competition with the Rat Pack to see who can build a bigger reputation, so far it's close, FFE hopes this gun does its bit to fuel the competition for years to come, and has inscribed both pirate crews into the sides of the gun. Taking a firm middle ground and selling to both.
