Private Rinse and Repeat

He stared in silence, maybe for more than what was needed. He was unsure himself, frozen in time.

"Yeah." Corin understood, as much as one could in unfamiliar circumstances. "Just... Take some time off, a slow comeback."

His hold softened until it was no more, and a lump was swallowed in his throat with a momentary glance towards his hand as it rejoined his side.

"It'll be okay."

She nodded.

It was the most she could do. Jem was back but not whole. Were any of them? She had already sacrificed so much of herself to the cause, it was time to see it through.

Do good.

Make her path worthwhile. … when she was ready for it. For now, she needed a human minute. She swallowed hard and looked at the home around her, in wonder again at the fact she was back.

“There’s up.. this new season up. Of Space Cowboys. I haven’t gotten to see it yet.” Yulas favorite show had been out for months. It was suddenly all she wanted to do right now. She gestured to the space that had just been his bed. “Do you…mind?”

Corin had seen his share of television, maybe more channels than Jem. But by virtue of his nature as a channel surfer, the sort that watched no more than twenty minutes at a time before his attention shifted and his thumb found the need the find a new show. Sat there in the laziest of all positions, one wrong move and complete comfort was abandoned for the unpleasant opposite. Space Cowboys, though? Not one Corin knew. Maybe he missed the re-runs catching a fist to the face in a back alley, or was too busy stomping someone out in a gutter.

In either case, there was a bruise there somewhere to explain it away.

"Sure," Corin nodded with a warm smile, "Yeah."

Hateable as he was, there was a kindness in there somewhere. Something not even he chose to believe in, not even as he slinked across to the couch to watch some show all in an effort to make someone else feel better about themselves.
