Intent: Create a metal that can be used in conjunction with other metals to form a stronger, durable and longer lasting material for weapons, namely as swords, bladed weapons and armor.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: Anyone who can mine and produce it.
Model: Rimidian
Affiliation: Anybody who can mine it/Collect it.
Modularity: Yes, Can be molded with most other metals to create an alloy.
Production: Limited - Required dev thread/Purchase through IC means be it the Market or in a real thread, only comes from Safe Haven
Material: Rimidia ore
Description:
Throughout the history of Safe Haven, the use of Iron or Durasteel has been used for weapons of sword, axes, daggers, and even armor. It is from this that a group of lone Metasmiths had found a new ore that was composed of a cross, or in likeness to that of Iron and Obsidian. (Obsidian aesthetic look of being a Shard in its ore form, as well as retaining a Black appearance whenever used) They took this metal and after years of working with it had discovered a metal that was fairly light considering against that of durasteel or iron, yet had properties that were on par with, or even stronger than Durasteel or even it's ceramic counterpart Armorplast.

The properties of the metal were being stronger physically to withstand an immense amount of pressure, and force, Be lighter by that of iron by three times (IE; an ingot of iron weighs 3kgs, while an ingot of the same size made of Rimidia ore is 1kg). When forged into a blade, the properties give it more retention strength, or in other words, not be as easily broken or damaged than durasteel. The metal is also able to be used in light or medium armors. When in it's armor shape and use, Rimidian can withstand blaster fire, Slugthrowers (up to an extent) and melee based strikes (lightsabers are not in this category) to a higher degree than that of Durasteel of the same thickness. The swords or bladed weapons in conjunction with being more durable, also keep their edge much longer than iron or Durasteel. (Iron is known for denting with heavy blows on other iron weapons, Rimidian will keep it's edge about three times longer [IE: One blow for Iron, Three blows in the same area for Rimidian])

It was from this metal that the metalsmiths created weapons and armor for the highest bidder (at the time, Humans mostly) and earned a very large amount of profit in it's use. Unlike Durasteel. Rimidian is not an alloy. it is literally a smithed form of the Rimidia Ore. Meaning that this ore can be used with other items such as Desh, or other compounds that are not alloys to create a stronger and more reliable metal. However, if used in an alloy, the properties of this material are lessened to the point of being less than Durasteel or Iron if used in the same instance. (IE: Rimidia formed with X metal makes X Metal slightly stronger, not Rimida with higher abilities) The second metal will become more durable, and able to withstand a higher retention, and stay sharper for a longer time, however the other properties are lost due to the fact of it now being a mix, or an alloy of two or more metals. As well, the more metals you add, the less prominent the abilities of Rimidia are.

Please change production to 'limited', as materials that are rare/limited and have special requirements (such as a development thread, like cortosis) are generally considered limited in number.
