Rim Dynamics is a medium-scale military corporation producing everything from handguns to Star Destroyers both through its own capabilities and those of its subsidiaries. Headquartered on the Unknown Regions world of Caragach, Rim Dynamics is run by a 50-member Board of Directors who make collective decisions about company initiatives. Rim Dynamics is an aggressively meritocratic company, with employees as well as entire departments being incentivized to compete with each other to secure lucrative contracts. Engineers responsible for promising new inventions or cost-reduction breakthroughs are greatly rewarded, often receiving promotions, wage hikes, and having their name given to the finished product.
True to its name, Rim Dynamics views its primary market as the galactic rim, the Unknown Regions and Outer Rim in particular. Rim Dynamics advertises its products as reliable, durable, and modular, aiming to appeal to individuals and organizations who may be far from major industrial centers or cannot safely travel further from the rim due to the presence of crime syndicates. Furthermore, Rim Dynamics does not sacrifice modernity for reliability, frequently incorporating new technologies into its products with detailed operation manuals after they have undergone rigorous trials.
HISTORY
Rim Dynamics was born from the 905 ABY restructuring of Alge Imperial Shipyards Engineering shortly after its re-privatization. Recognizing the significant upheaval that had come from relocating most of its operations from the Tingel Arm to the eastern Unknown Regions, AISI’s board of directors decided to initiate internal reforms to restore investor confidence. Chief among these reforms was the restructuring of AISI into a subsidiary branch of a new entity, making room for both a wider range of products and a larger board of directors including major investors from the Unknown Regions.
RATIONALE
Given the upheaval that has shaken Alge Imperial Shipyards Engineering in the early 900s ABY, FN-999 gladly lent his support to the restructuring efforts led by his Board of Directors. Now only one of fifty coequal members of the Board of Directors, FN-999 strikes in his mind what is a proper balance given his qualifications. Though he has a prominent voice on the Board, he recognizes his limitations as a career general, not a business manager, and often acquiesces to the counsel of his more experienced peers, only actively intervening when Rim Dynamics is threatened by a hostile military force.
