SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Temperature Controlled Fuel Container: A large, rectangular container at the center of the SuperSmoke Generator stores nagnol at a relatively cool temperature, just above what would produce condensation. This way, a fairly large amount of gas can be stored in a compact area.
  • Air Jet: An air jet inside the fuel container is automatically activated when the transit tube opens up, rapidly moving the gas from the container into the tube. The jet is powered by the same power source fueling the rest of the generator.
  • Transit Tube: A durasteel tube extends from the fuel container to the vent opening to the outside world. The air jet inside the fuel container faces directly into the transit tube, facilitating the rapid transfer of nagnol from the container to the tube once the hatch on the tube opens.
  • Smoke Vent: Gas exits the SuperSmoke Generator through the smoke vent, a large tube with a hatch separating the generator’s interior from the outside.
STRENGTHS
  • Smokescreen: As its name suggests, the Rim Dynamics SuperSmoke Generator specializes in creating large clouds of nagnol smoke that obscure vehicles and warships from the view of most species, concealing weak spots and other vulnerabilities.
  • Scrambler: The nagnol gas that forms SuperSmoke is able to disrupt sensors, making something concealed inside the smoke more difficult to hit.
WEAKNESSES
  • Gone With the Wind: SuperSmoke can be dispersed and made ineffective by strong wind or sonic attacks.
  • Stationary Cloud: Once SuperSmoke is released, the gas cloud that is generated stays in place. Therefore, vehicles with SuperSmoke generators that are moving at high speeds will need to constantly release smoke to maintain a screen around their profile.
  • Double-Blind: While it is difficult for most beings to see a ship concealed by SuperSmoke, it is also difficult for beings in the ship producing the smoke to see ships on the other side of the smoke screen. Furthermore, SuperSmoke also disrupts the targeting systems of the vehicle that is inside its smokescreen, forcing them to rely on manual fire or previous calculations to maintain accuracy.
DESCRIPTION
Though a popular and profitable product, the effectiveness of the AISI Mass Smoke Generator had begun to be questioned as early as a few weeks after it entered the market. A major shortfall of the original smoke generator was that it only disrupted visual target locks, making it nearly useless against any radar-equipped warships or bombers. Hoping to resolve this issue to produce a superior product for its military clients, Alge Imperial’s Board of Directors authorized work on an improved generator.

The project was eventually taken up by Rim Dynamics, AISI’s newly established parent company. A major breakthrough was the use of nagnol gas instead of conventional smoke. The nagnol provided two benefits over the previous models of generator: sensor disruption and the ability to retain a cloud of useful density in the vaccum of space. As a result, the SuperSmoke Generator has begun to succeed the earlier Mass Generator, providing superior concealment to vehicles and ships.

I am a big fan of smoke generators. They bring the WW2 naval combat dynamics into the game, which is extremely aesthetically appropriate within the themes of Star Wars!

Two questions I need to ask you. One, it came to my attention that it is difficult for a moving/accelerating vehicle/vessel to remain under the cover of a smoke field in both space and atmosphere. Can you elaborate on the nature of how this technology reacts deals with moving vehicles? Perhaps you can include this as a viable weakness?

Two, gasses tend to disperse extremely rapidly in a vacuum. How does this system retain a cohesive field of protection when in the vacuum of space?

1. I added the smoke not keeping up with a moving vehicle as a weakness
2. I recently learned from a friend about a canon gas called nagnol that can create a screen that works even in the vaccum of space. I changed the SuperSmoke infusion from conventional smoke + iron ball paint to nagnol.

Hope this resolves any issues!
