Riding a Raid

This isn't going to be a full fleet engagement, this will be a raid using lighter ships.

We get in, do some damage to One Sith planets and ships, then get out.

Any suggestions as to a place to hit? I want to avoid Coruscant and Alderaan because they'd be heavily defended.

I'll start doing some research, but from what I've seen, [member="VlPER"] seems to know a lot about such matters judging by his posts in the capital thread. He might have some good suggestions.

Alright, so.

OOC’ly, do we tell the Sith before we do it? I have no doubt they’re reading this already because accidental/deliberate infiltration.

Hello Sith! :p

Anyway, I think I’ll post up a notice that a raid is coming, but not where, so that they’re not caught totally by surprise.

As for fleet, I want a carrier and light strike force mainly of escorts. It’s essential we can fly in and fly out quickly.

I’ve looked at our fleet list and I’m not sure what’s even active anymore and in production. Suggestions?
Max I want to use is one Star Destroyer, then some cruisers, frigates, corvettes. 3-4000 metres max.

Well, I designed the Vinnath-class Pocket Carrier for raiding actions like this (but on a smaller scale), if we're looking for smaller ships.

In our convoy attack training thread, the other two ships being used are the Hammerhead-class Frigate and a modernized Dreadnaught.

[member="Camellia Swift"] would be a good person to talk to see what's in standard in terms of production.

As far as I know, we don't really have any large carriers (thought I'd be happy to design one for you if you'd like). Camellia can probably correct me if I'm wrong in that knowledge.

We don't have any large scale carriers as of now. I considered making the Noblesse design a super-carrier over a linear cannon ship but didn't because we also don't have any of those either..

Also I'm not getting any *insert vibrant swearing here* notifications. PM me guys if you wanna get this account's attention for now.

The Dreadnought's are great for winning in close ranged combat, they have a hefty broadside and heavy armor, but tend to be slow. They make great defensive escorts. The Hammerheads are great for raiding though, they have heavy guns forward and are rather fast for their size, and they have a squadron where the Dreadnought carries none.

The Spearhead Cruisers I designed have a decent raiding capacity too with their long range guns and above average hanger count.

But we don't have a dedicated fleet carrier, though I'd love to design one if anyone wants to help.

As for planets we can hit, Byss and Galantos have good supply lines we can hit and in canon homed decent facilities worth hitting so they have history over nameless areas, Byss may be a bit close to Coruscant and their other major territory though.

Does KDY have any carriers still active we use?

Ah, sounds neat. Definitely could use the experience. I can lead fighter/bomber units to carry out bombing runs against ships/orbital platforms, and fixed targets planetside.

I'll bring in a Umbara-class Carrier-cruiser with an Armorer-class Support Corvette.

I assuming that we want the all Narra-class variant, but let me know, and I'll edit it to include the dropships and gunships if needed.

EDIT: Any pilots or the like going to be operating off of that ship? We're somewhat restricted to the various varieties of Narras, but otherwise, let me know.

EDIT #2: Are we coming onto the battlefield in any particular formation?

Alright people, so the Sith have partly shown their hand.

The Chimaera is an ISD II. Powerful, but it has weaknesses. First, the Avenger has longer range weapons, able to hit it from long range. Second, the ISD II lacks any warhead or anti-starfighter batteries. If we mob it with fighters and especially bombers we can deal it some real damage.

Thus, when the moment comes, I want us to try and penetrate their attack craft screen and go Battle of Midway on it. I’ll keep it at a distance with guns and warheads.
