OVERVIEW
Rhyssar is a Jedi Initiate from the Old Republic Era, who had been suspended in cryosleep and lost to time. Due to her weak but present ties to the Force, she was raised within an experimental Sentinel program which focused heavily on the effects of Force Imbuement on the body. As such she was taught to adorn her body in temporary symbols drawn in ink, akin to Henna, each of which could be activated to draw upon a specific Force Power.
Once activated, the marking would slowly begin to fade until the effects of the Power wore off. For some this means an instantaneous disappearance, and for others it may take a while to fully fade from view. Either way each can only be activated once before needing to be redrawn. As such she can often be found sporting numerous and seemingly ever changing 'tattoos'. Her training was stopped before she reached the stage wherein she could transfer these imbuements into objects instead for a more permanent (yet less potent) effect, though she knows such is possible to one day learn.
The experiment was put on hiatus when the Jedi Master overseeing it disappeared while on an assignment in the Outer Rim. With Master Kast gone, his students were scattered throughout the Order, and while most were able to adjust to more traditional training methods Rhys remained stuck relying on the imbuements in order to uphold her connection. As such her talents were directed more into lightsaber combat than the metaphysical pursuits of the Consulars.
Drawing upon her Sentinel-based past, she also learned to rely upon non-traditional methods to get tasks done; weapons and devices more commonly used by the general populace supplemented the abilities she was lacking. She only spent a couple of months in this new and strange regimen before she was captured by the cult that Kast had been investigating who hoped to use her as a bargaining chip.
They locked her in cryostasis, believing it easier than actually having to deal with her, and when Master Kast didn't turn up she was left forgotten in storage. Over the years her pod was moved several times until the ship carrying it was also lost. Since then she's been drifting through space...
