Description: The RF-12 (Rusty's Firearm 12) is the first in a line of mass produced weapons to come out of RCFC. With investment comes expansion, and with expansion comes the ability to mass produced weapons.

The RF-12 is a shotgun designed for close in work. The short barrel and pistol grip make for a highly maneuverable weapon that can easily be used in the confines of a ship. Based off a tried and true design, the RF-12 is simple, rugged, and reliable. You have to work to break it.

Though its short length and relatively light weight would ordinarily make the recoil delivered to the shooter punishing, the addition of a custom muzzle brake goes a long way towards fixing that problem. Though it certainly doesn't mitigate it entirely, it does reduce recoil to manageable levels. This comes at a cost, however. By channeling the muzzle blast backwards, the shooter has to deal with a great deal more gas heading their way than normal. This makes the weapon uncomfortably loud, and in an enclosed space can cause instant, irreversible hearing loss. Hearing protection recommended.

It should also be noted that the ammunition is fairly bulky, and that reloading quickly under pressure takes practice. Many are the lives lost to a fumbled reload in a shootout. And while the ammunition capacity is high for a combat shotgun, the shooter still only has a five round magazine. It's very easy to burn through that in a matter of seconds, even with a pump action.
