It had been years since they spoke. Ever since the loss of his mother, his father's wife, the Hound continued to push everyone away as one failure piled onto another. And with it, the guilt continued to grow along with the longing. But he never reached out. Never answered, too ashamed to face his old man after everything that happened. Like every other bad choice at the time, Yuri told himself that it was for the best. That he was helping to avoid any more pain.

It couldn't continue.

He couldn't fix all of his mistakes, but he was trying his damned best where he could. The family business was operational once more, the family name reformed to demand respect once again. What friends remained, amends were extended. But one last mistake still needed to be confronted, and so he found himself on Denon once again.

In the past, Denon was a place to make bad decisions and ruin his life. Those days were over, the prodigal son had returned. But his heart raced as the elevator carried him up to his father's penthouse. At least, he hoped it was still his father's. He didn't even reach out to make sure, it was supposed to be a surprise. Yuri was nervous, scared to face his father after everything that happened. He didn't know about Yuri's new arm, about the new war brewing... nothing.

A cigarette landed between his lips, lit with a spark from the plasma cutter built into his cybernetic left arm. It didn't do much to calm his nerves, but it helped him feel a little bit better. He lifted the bottle of expensive Tihaar he brought along from Kestri. There was a second gift, but he needed to see how things went first before he brought it out. A growling sigh echoed from his maw. He adjusted his leather jacket and prepared to depart as the turbolift came to a halt. "Showtime..." He muttered to himself, stepping out to the front door. Hesitation gripped at his mind, body and heart. A finger hovered over the buzzer for what felt like an eternity.

It felt like he had to put his whole body into it, but finally the button was depressed. The elegant chime signalled Yuri's presence by the front door. His breath was stuck, the Hound found himself unable to breathe as he waited for the door to be answered.

Denon, his penthouse. It'd been a long time since he last stepped foot in it. Even now he was just glancing over some of the more dusty surfaces. this was a time in his life when he wanted to bring some sort of cash flow to the table. To make a name of his own. Give something for Shai to be proud of, even if it was just crime. Crime he knew. Crime he could make up as he went.

A heavy sigh escaped him as he plopped on to one of the couches in the main room, idly glancing over one of the photo frames he'd kept. No screen, real glass, real paper. Shai, him, and the young Yuri. Before everything broke, before he fell even more distant from them both as war raged on. He stared at the picture for a good long time as he listened to the doorway.

Heartbeat. He knew who's it was, and he half expected the heartbeat to fade away and leave him alone again. He wouldn't blame the boy for leaving. Yet the doorbell rang. Xyoz stood, setting the photo on the coffee table before he got up to the door and clicked it open.

"I was wondering if you were going to ring it or not. Come on in, kid."

His heart was racing as he waited for someone to answer the door. Doubts and second-guessing immediately began to stir, but it was all blown clean by the door sliding open. Sure enough, the Hound was staring straight into the glowing eyes of his father. He was first to break the silence, inviting Yuri into their home. Yuri stood speechless for a moment, maw agape but not sound escaped.

Not until Xyoz moved back and allowed Yuri entry. "... Thanks." He muttered, eyes to the floor. The place was dusty, a heavy must hung in the air from neglect. Was he gone or did he simply not have the place cleaned up all this time? Yuri took in his surroundings for a moment as he set the bottle of Tihaar on a countertop. "You're lookin' good. Thought I saw some grey on that muzzle for a second." He teased with a hollow chuckle. He felt incredibly awkward in the moment, unable to figure out how he was supposed to behave.

"I... I brought this. For us. Dunno when you had something proper last." He continued, gesturing to the bottle while he set his jacket aside. Fixing his shirt and adjusting his holster, the Hound began to look for two tumblers while kicking himself internally. Was he too casual? Did he need to be more formal? Where was he even supposed to start? The anxiety was eating him up as he cleaned two glasses out and poured a stiff serving for them both. He knocked his drink back almost entirely, a mixture of habit and hoping the burn of the liquor could soothe his nerves.

He finally found the courage to look at his old man. But what to say? "You, uh..." He brushed his nose and looked around. "You been outta town? Place could do with housekeepin'." He remarked with a strained smile.
