Haran’s Shadow
Hey, I don't often do these, but we were involved in some fun planning last time I was here and a couple of important threads. I thought a few people deserved an explanation for my absence.
My mother had a stroke. I moved in to help look after her, and then a few months later, she had another stroke. I had to move out to arrange care for her, as she needed the space to store her equipment and belongings close to hand. I had to jump between businesses, caring and jobs (and apartments). It left me no time, and I was drained.
Now i'm just in regular full-time employment again, and my mom has four sets of carers a day looking after her. She's bed-bound but looked after. More info than you need but we can't get a ramp put in or paid for to get her out, and I can't put one in myself without a lot of alteration to the front area, as the walkways are 45 degrees to the door, and that's beyond my meagre abilities in paving and building work. - I mention that in case someone has a lightbulb idea beyond just a temporary ramp, as its still 45 degrees to lift the chair, which I can lift but nobody else can, and it requires two of us to steady it.
I will say this. If your elderly parent, relation or friend is ever falling over a lot, get them checked out for more than just muscle and bone issues. Just in case.
