Return to Kaas

Droumnd Kaas was a gloomy place to be, the world hadn't been the same ever since a certain Mandalorian fleet commander decided to drop an asteroid upon its surface. Once covered in sprawling jungles, Kaas was now an arid and cold wasteland. The scattered swamps and jungle oasis are all that remind people of its past, yet even then the world was gloomy. What difference does it make? Dark days with nearly endless rain or bland landscapes with nearly endless cold?

It didn't matter much, there was still something worth salvaging beyond its aesthetics. Dromund Kaas was a Sith world, held in high standard and the capital of an Empire, towers of obsidian rose from the ground and stood tall over the fortress of Kaas City. Within its walls lied knowledge, power, and authority--the ruins of which still cling onto life even as the foundation decays. That is the will of the Sith, to never truly die.

Anja Aj'Rou traveled in secret to Kaas, with no guards nor companions, to seek out knowledge on a subject she kept to herself. A small starship landed far from any signs of civilization and near the outskirts of a ruin, the Host Lord stepped off the shuttle and began to explore the wilds.

Once there was a woman
With raven locks of hair
She went about her life
Without a bit of care
They said she was crazy
A drunkard at the bar
But compared to her kin
Truly she went so far
One dreary, dark evening
Her life came to an end
When a kinsman forgot
The placement of a friend
Now she wanders the land,
A ghostly spirit lass
With broken blade in hand
'Til freed from death at last

And they call her... Medax

Sometimes coming home was the hardest thing to do. War always brought chaos to the nations it affected, both on the front lines and back in the heart of the country. Or in the heart of the Empire, in this case. At the end of a great conflict, Dromund Kaas had been besieged by enemy forces. A once heavily populated world was reduced to little more than a winter playground in a matter of a few days. Few people remained on the Imperial homeworld. Those that did were trying desperately to make something out of the ruins.

But there were places that even they, as desperate and proud as they were, would not go. Perhaps it was superstition. They could swear that they had seen figures moving through the fog, strange footprints in the snow, and eyes in the night. 'Going near there is trouble', they'd say. Maybe some of them just remembered what the land had once been used for. Who the land had belonged to. Most of them hadn't come close before things went to hell, but they knew people who had gone there, and they knew the rumors.

Rumors didn't really matter in a situation like theirs. To them, everything they knew about the old Nyxai property was fact. People had died there. Children had been abused, lost, and buried. Servants had their necks snapped for the simplest of errors, for simply making the tiniest of wrong moves. It made sense that there would still be spirits on the land, haunting the place where their nightmares had come true. Since the fall of Kaas, those left on the planet had been avoiding the territory for fear of the specters that resided there.

Recently scouts had been reporting increased activity in the area...
As if another spirit had joined the sorrowful little soiree.

A ghost looks for her home
In the rubble of Kaas
Where once she was well known
But her home is long lost
Only ruins remain
Where Empires once stood
Tattered cloth, window panes,
Burnt stones and rotten wood
So little is still left
At least on the surface
The Lords had been so deft,
To hide their wondrous place
Below the ruined ground
Beneath the grass and leaves
A treasure can be found
Like you wouldn't believe
Just waiting for a thief...
