Public Return of the Vong: The Gathering

Warmaster Fhaige

Acrid smoke belched from the many caves along the ground beyond the mountains. It was a Vong encampment, one could smell that from miles around. The smoke was a byproduct of the various biological constructs The Yuuzhan Vong used for their settlement. Beneath the white snow, there was a black ichor that slowly pulsated along the ground, it was a biomass that The Vong used as a foundation for their homes. Anything they needed could spring up from this biomass, and would therefor be nourished by it.

Fhaige stood at the edge of this biomass, looking out onto the snowy landscape. Something was coming, she could smell it. A heretic most likely, but one who smelled closer to kin than foe. She would tell her warriors to stand aside, this one she would meet personally. The red chitin of her crab armor stood out against the black and white of this valley.

Snow crunched under her feet as she walked towards Kiera Sifdin-Skell , there meeting would begin tense. It was mainly because of the confusion which overtook the Warmaster. She looked Kiera up and down a few times, making sure she was fully aware of everything. A heretic seeking out the Vong sounded like suicide. There had to be some kind of trick to this.

"Tell me... What brings a human here? The only reason your head still lies on your shoulders is for novelty's sake..."

The Vong had not gotten any interaction with humans that weren't of The Creed for some decades now. This small group of several dozen was only here because it was cut off from the last major fleet of world ships. With no way to create their own, then it was useless to try an leave.

"I suppose it is possible the gods have sent you here as a way of mocking me. I have prayed for salvation, and they have sent a human instead..."

<You speak the tongue of The Yuuzhan Vong, and you speak of me as a sister. Maybe there is more to you than I first saw.> Fhaige's eye sacs moved quizzically, stretching and shrinking as she considered what she was hearing. A human speaking her native language, it was much easier on her sensory organs than the clicky-ness of Galactic Basic. If nothing else, The Warmaster would enjoy this conversation more than most she'd had with heretics.

<Why am I here? It is a bitter tale, we were defeated in battle, and our worldship destroyed. We attempted to grow in the confines of this planet, to create new ships, however there have been complications. Between the bitter cold, lack of biological material, and the constant incursions from these humanoids. We have stagnated.>

Fhaige turned her back to Kiera, motioning for the human to join her. As they walked back to the oversized warren of The Vong, she squinted her eyes in disgust. <Our current chief insists on going on the offensive, wiping out these so-called Mandalorians. My strategy would to be to defend, and create some form of transport to get offworld. Some place that better supports biomass construction...>
