Description:
Wars are won not only on the ground, but by the dominance of space as well.
The command of the First Order knew this more than any one, and so the development of the Retribution-Class Star Destroyer began soon after they had established themselves on Eriadu.
At first the Star Destroyer which was based loosely on designs from the Imperial Factions of old grew in size beyond the limitation of the First Order’s small planet bound shipyards. The development was scrapped completely and with the assistance of several military deserters from elsewhere in the galaxy a secondary, smaller design was established and put to the challenge.
Dubbed the Destructor-Class Cruiser upon initial launch the ship fared well in it’s initial tests however was deemed to cumbersome by the Supreme Leader who again sent the ship back to the drawing board. What was to be born was the Retribution-Class Star Destroyer, a cruiser that held a size easy enough to produce in bulk for the First Order as well as establish a sizeable presence in the space surrounding Eriadu.
Designed with combat in mind the Retribution held enough weapons to be considered a formidable force as it transported the forces of the First Order from place to place. Hangers were instrumental to it’s success with space enough for two whole squadrons as well as a dedicated flight of the First Order’s transport Boats.
In combat it fights with simple grace, attempting to overcome its enemy with sheer firepower and fighter support.
