Faction Rest and Recovery (THR)

He’d been there, flying support. A shuttle to help pull downed fighters from the brink. There to give his support and skills to the Republic. His father wanted him to stay out of it. But that wasn’t possible.

He was a Starchaser.

And in the aftermath, the Tide of Light ships arrived. Helping pull the Republic out of the fray. Corellian ships supported by Mon Cal cruisers. Destination?

Kattada.

The world owed its protection to the High Republic and they supported in turn. Jedi. Pilots. Explorers. Information.

Now? Rest. Relaxation. Healing.

Jedi and Witch healers alike were on stand by. Mechanics in the hangars offering parts, tools and time.

But for Jared, back on the Enclave world? It meant finding himself the cheapest tiki bar on the beach with a volleyball net.

And posting up.

Defeat was always sour. But he didn’t let the Sith bastards get him down for long.

Thyferra's invasion put Sector Rangers in a hard time, right when the unit was undergoing heavy changes. Or, rather, what was left of the paramilitary unit. Moreover, Sebastian felt like he did nothing to help the High Republic in the war, as he was busy doing some jobs just to make ends meet. But this is why he traveled to Kattada, so he could find jobs where his skills would be more useful. So after arriving, he decided to find someone who could tell him how bad the situation was now (to put it mildly) and where volunteers would be needed. The world won't end with this defeat, as long as there are people willing to make this world a better place. Or so Sebastian thought.

Recover came quick and easy, for him anyway. His wounds had healed up nicely, memories were always there though. But he wasn't going to linger on that, not today anyway. Kattada was always a wonder place to go, Naboo had its beauty and grace, but Kattada has its own beauty, and a place for tranquility.

What tranquility he would find today was at one of the bars along the beach. Aiden took a seat, requesting a glass of Crellian whiskey. Glass reached his handds and he took a long sip. Setting the glass down, a satisfying sigh left his mouth.

"This is nice."

Samara Raine strolled along Kattada's white sandy beach barefoot, shoes carried in one hand and a concha shell in the other. The last few days had been brutal caring for the wounded coming from the battle at Thyferra. There were a lot of burns, blunt force trauma, and of course injuries from lightsabers, but the Master Healer soldiered through as she usually did with skill and compassion.

At the end of the beach front was a tiki bar that had a volleyball court near it. The bar was a dive though always had interesting entertainment. As she neared the establishment, the honey blonde spotted at least two familiar individuals - a Jedi and a Ranger.

The Liann gave a friendly wave towards Aiden Porte Aiden Porte and Jared Starchaser Jared Starchaser as she held the shoes and shell in one hand. It would be nice to catch up with both men again for it had been way too long especially the younger as he had recently lost his mother.

The Tide of Light was the growth of his father’s approach to the Jedi and the way to fight in the galaxy. Fight for what was right, use what you could, and build off of it. A small battle group of Alliance-Republic minded folks, mostly from the Outer Rim, or those from the Core who were too sick of Core politics to care for their own world, and the mess that it created.

But to care on the message, to keep the Light shining.

And the original Starchaser Patriarch set that up on a Mon Calamari cruiser and the world of Kattada, it grew from there. The fleet came in, helped to provide some last minute support, and pull pilots and folks from wreckage.

Yet there was that feeling that occurred out there. Tech going haywire and even the Force feeling like it died? Not a great look, must have been a Sith weapon.

Speaking with Master Vodet, Jared opened the world as a port of call, for those who weren’t wanting to limp back to the Capital, or for those who genuinely looked towards a geographic change for their rest.

He looked up towards Aiden, another one just like him, heir to a powerful, or semi-influential Force using family. Jared did forgo a lot of training his father left behind before disappearing. He knew his sister did too.

But their lineages were all leaned towards the Light and that was something hard to break. “Find yourself planetside there?” Jared offered, to Aiden as he sipped his cocktail. His attention clearly pulled from Aiden for a second as Samara approached.

What? Jared was easily distracted, and the woman did seem like she’d just come from the healing trenches.

Aiden glanced back, looking along the beach and catching sight of Samara, whom he hadn't seen in so long. The Knight smiled and waved at her, motioning her over when she was able. It would be good to catch up. And then he noted Jared next to him. Aiden had known his father. He was a good man, from what Aiden had known of him. The last time he had seen Jared was when he was a teenager. Gods, that seemed like a lifetime ago. Much had changed, and Aiden was as busy as he could be. The events of Thyferra were still in his mind, not haunting him in any way, but leaving him with the sense that he wished there was more he could have done.

Perhaps that was a sense of haunting, but he hadn't lost any sleep over it. The Jedi and Sith had been at war for generations, and while he still carried hope in his heart, there was always the question of whether it would ever truly end. For over a thousand generations, they had fought before him, to the point that the Jedi Order had once been completely obliterated, only for a single Jedi to return and bring an end to the Empire.

And now, they were back again...

An endless cycle. Perhaps it was his generation's turn to continue that fight.

“Find yourself planetside there?”

Aiden looked over to him, giving him a simple nod and a smile. "Yes, didn't do much help though, did it?" He didn't mean to chuckle, but what else could one do? What was done was done, and they had to get ready for the next fight.

Samara Raine smiled warmly when Aiden Porte Aiden Porte waved back at her, though her blue-green eyes were fixed on the reaction of Jared Starchaser Jared Starchaser more. They had met a time or two on various missions or at events. He was a hard man to read or maybe not. Time would only tell.

The Jedi doctor made her way through a maze of lounge chairs set out on the beach, then stopped briefly when she reached the end of the bar to wipe her sandy feet off before slipping back on her shoes. A few more steps brought Samara to where the guys were seated at the bar. The concha shell was ceremoniously placed on the counter.

"Hey Squirt!" Sam teased the young Porte, ruffling his dark mop of hair. He had been like a little brother to her back in the day and at one time an apprentice healer of hers. Gods how he was all grown up now, and so serious.

She then turned her attention next to the Force-sensitive Ranger from the North and flashed him a soft grin. "And Mister Starchaser... How are you two fine gentlemen this day?"

After the events on the superminer Osaga, no amount of beauty could change what Sebastian became. He was almost tolerant to his surroundings, and very few things could bring his attention. For a ranger, it's a useful trait since it allows one to do one's job faster or even help to survive, without paying attention to trifles. And yet, the outcome of the invasion Sebastian couldn't ignore, as there were systems he preferred to thrive. And recent events made him worry about that.

Getting information on further steps is the first action on the ranger to-do list. Perhaps, Kattada's charming beauty might help to loosen a few lips and tongues around. The bar seemed like a great spot. And so Sebastian picked a farther corner of the bar and decided to wait for someone who survived the invasion. It's been a while since he jumped into the fray, and he wanted to do it again.

War defintiely made it so sometimes people didn’t recognize who was posting next and not. Looking back to Aiden as he spoke, Jared couldn’t help but shrug. “Whatever the frakking Senate decided didn’t help either. Us or them. I’m honestly not sure if they know whos side they were on.” Was this active treason talk? Perhaps.

Was he a Starchaser?
Absolutely.

“All we can do is keep moving and hope they see us doing the good work for the next time we’re all in the dirt for the Republic.” Didn’t sound much like a Jedi either.

“Master Raine, join us. And we’re doing fine today. I mean all considered. Got most of the Republic forces out of that storm, didn’t we? Dropped a good too many on your doorstep though I think?” He looked from Samara over to the newcomer.

He was part of one of those other units, right, one of the ranger units. “You’re a ranger, aren’t ya? Pull up a stool.”

The ruffling of his hair made him smile, and laugh. "You know, there's gonna come a time when you won't be able to do that anymore." He gave her a wink, before answering her question. "I'm doing rather well, recovering easily enough."

“All we can do is keep moving and hope they see us doing the good work for the next time we’re all in the dirt for the Republic.”

"Well, let's hope they don't leave us in the dark, or give us the shaft like they did on Thyferra." Aiden said with a chuckled. While he could laugh about it now, his faith in the High Republic goverment was indeed shaken, and to where they could still be trusted, if some were allowed to run around with artifacts that could disrupt so much.

The mention of dropping people on Samara's doorstep, made Aiden chuckle. "It's good for her, she likes to stay busy."

Aiden raised his glass to their new friend that was joining them. "Welcome, it's good to see you!"

"You know, there's gonna come a time when you won't be able to do that anymore. I'm doing rather well, recovering easily enough."
"Glad to hear that, Squirt. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything," Sam answered with a wink of her own at Aiden Porte Aiden Porte .

Samara had given a promise to Aiden's mother before she died to keep an eye out for him as well as his sister, and that promise would be kept to the best of her ability.

“Master Raine, join us. And we’re doing fine today. I mean all considered. Got most of the Republic forces out of that storm, didn’t we? Dropped a good too many on your doorstep though I think?”

"Thanks... Don't mind if I do," the honey blonde smiled warmly at Jared Starchaser Jared Starchaser , then took a seat at the counter. "We did, though sadly it's never enough. Yes, the casualties were numbered," she sighed as the bartender came over to take her order.

"I'll have an Elba water over ice, please, with a slice of lemon if you have it."

It didn't take long for the barkeep to return with her drink. The Jedi healer nodded a thanks, then picked the glass up and took a nice, long sip of the blue-green liquid that matched her eye color while the men chatted briefly. It seemed there was another ranger among them as well as he was invited to join them.
