Republic SR2 Personal Cannon

Intent: Equip Heavy Troopers with Personal Siege Weaponry

Manufacturer: BlasTech Limited Coruscant
Model: SR2 Laser Cannon
Affiliation: Republic
Modularity: No
Production: Mass
Material: Composite Plastics, Titanium Frame, Thermal Resist Barrel

Description: A Personal Laser Cannon. Alternating twin barrels produce large volleys of devastating firepower.

Classification: Laser Cannon (Personal)
Size: Handheld (2-handed)
Status: Military, Illegal
Length: ~ 1.5 m
Weight: ~ 16 kg
Ammunition Type: Power Cell (Large)
Ammunition Capacity: 1200
Maximum Range: 4000 m
Effective Range: 600 m
Rate of Fire: Automatic (640 rounds per minute, Cyclic)

Concerns:
  • Blaster weapons generate magnificently less recoil than a Slugthrower. Tri-pod requests are for stability only.
  • There is a 3 second computer-activated cooldown between sustained volleys lasting 10 seconds or more. This preserves barrel integrity and prevents warping. During this cooldown period the ammo counter will flash red.
  • The weapon is designed to be carried with two hands. However, it can be mounted onto a tri-pod where available.
  • Fiber-weave Chest Harnesses are available for additional support during combat.

Because I'm a plant.
Its a man portable heavy repeating blaster. My only issue is the rate of fire. Is it cyclic or sustained rate? Also Star Wars weapons seem to be a bit slower than real life weapons.. In real life terms though the cyclic rate of fire for a SAW is like 720 rounds per minute, with a sustained rate of fire of like 80-90 rounds per minute. With two barrels the sustained rate of fire could be effectivly higher because the burden would be on both barrels, but even so 750 rounds per minute seems really high.
