Republic Armaments

I've been looking at our overall military armaments, and it seems like on the ground level, we're really being crushed by the One Sith in this regard. In fact, they have so much weaponry, starships, and creatures, we're probably somewhere around a 1:20 comparison, I would like to change that and level the playing field a bit.

I've been approved of three specific designs to be manufactured by THI and sold to only members of the Galactic Republic, and allied factions. I intend to continue throwing more and more into the factory for us to use, but I would like to have the weapons & armor manufactured by THI sanctioned by the Republic military for distribution to it's Army and Navy forces.

We should create a new mass-produced starship or maybe a capital, at least when we finish with the other ships.

And by capital I mean like the Eclipse.

My goal once my company reaches Tier 3 is to open a starship subsidiary. Unfortunately because of company rules in the Factory I can't actually build starships until I reach the next tier. For now, I'm restricted to armor & weapons. (I am in the process of working with another company to establish one of the two required contracts, but without a second, I can't advance the company.)

You assume that everything has to go through the Factory. Most stuff just isn't really... important enough.

No [member="Zane Watts"], I don't. but anything you want to use that has the potential to be questioned by someone else should be put through the Factory.

The three things there were mostly for my own character, and would simply add to the list of things anyone here wanted to use, but, if, out of the blue in combat I simply announced that my character had a jet pack that might be cause for some questioning. So yes, while you are correct that not everything has to be put through the factory, doing so doesn't hurt anything, and it is still A: Fun and B: gives more life to things and C: Would help the less than impressive armory list we have.

When the Manaan battle is over, we will have more to discuss regarding the fleet.

However, seeing the impotence of the Immortal, I would argue against the urge to push for huge ships.

Agreed. Huge ships aren't a necessity. I'm more concerned with simply levelling the playing field in that aspect because of some of the sillyness that they drop constantly with their weapons/ships/animal-ish-monster-things.

To counter the monsters maybe we should make more racial alliances IC, maybe give some of the warlike species a call or maybe just use more brutal ones we have. Granted it wouldn't work in surprise attacks like these, but the light side is pretty incapable of making monsters. Unless you want to craft heavy armours.

As a side thought: we have these guns.

If what you feel you need for combat isn't on our Armory List? You can always create it just for yourself too. I always personalize my armaments for all my characters. Many people do. It is one of the most important reasons an Armory List is so hard to keep 'modern' in the first place. Because every single character demands a specialized loadout or starship to met every new situation.

Still. I say go for it. Never hurts to try new things.

I would say updating that list would be immensely helpful. It isn't the only list we have that is in need of an update, but it would be helpful to incoming new members to have an indication of what sort of armaments are immediately available to them. A starting point of sorts.

I like this motivation to beef up our lorr and lists. If you would like to help organize a list expansion [member="Kayleigh Tyven"] I see no reason not to. While Zane is correct and it is not mandatory, it is nice to have for the rest of us who aren't quite so tech oriented. Feel free to scrub up an unofficial list here where you guys can work on it together and receive constructive input.

The Republic also has HRDs and battle droids supplied to them by Archangel (major faction contract).
