Relics of the Past (Gida'vida/Open to all)

How long had it been?

Time once escaped the dark Jedi master known as Rylan Kordel, he had been sent by his commander and lord to locate relics forgotten to time, a task he more than relished, as it removed him from the day to day drudgery of 'civilized' life. What was unexpected though, was what he would stumble on, his ship? wrecked, his crew? dead, his chance to return home? slim, and altogether unlikely. Yet, he pushed on, and in time, and some luck, he was discovered by scavengers and brought back to the known regions.

Not long after his return though, Rylan somehow ended up with a crew of scientists, working security on a research mission to a relic from the Clone Wars, an old battleship, or the remains of rather. The memories of his time on board these ships came flooding back to him as he wandered the halls, or what was left of them.

There was a tugging in his mind, a sense, something the force wanted him to see.

Floating in place was a chunk of carbonite, he approached slowly, and to his surprise, there was a person inside. His eyes traveled over the form, it was female, youthful, athletic, Twi'lek. She must have been a Jedi padawan, "You must have been put here by your master..." he whispered quietly, before finally calling in the scientists to take her back to their ship. He would go with her, while he had dropped the trappings of the life of a Jedi long ago, he felt sympathy and sorrow for this padawan, she was in for a shock.

When the reclamation and research was finished on the old cruiser, Rylan went with the carbonite frozen woman to her next stop, as the scientists turned her over to a hospital, and the government of the planet she'd been discovered near. The only real good part of it was, that it was at least Confederacy space. He waited anxiously, for soon she'd be freed from her prison, and while he doubted he would be considered a friendly face, he was at least someone who could help her adjust.

It wasn't long after the slab was handed over that the medical staff got to work. Hibernation sickness was a serious thing to worry about, especially when it may even in some cases lead to death. A bed was made ready, for the process would lead the subject to being exhausted. Then they began the de-freezing, a somewhat slow process to watch as the carbon around the woman's features turn to life, the carbon giving way to a deep blue flesh that once was. Once the process was complete she fell down, a panic could be seen on her face though her eyes were unopened. There was no words from the woman, only what could be described as a whimper.

"Jedi.. must warn them.. have to warn.. them.." She forced herself to muster.

He watched as carbon glowed and faded away to blue-colored skin, sensing the panic coming off of her in waves, Rylan took in a deep breath, closed his eyes and placed his fingertips against her forehead, trying to reach out to the young woman's mind, trying to soothe and calm her. The whimper though, that almost broke him for a moment, his own memories of the day thee clones turned on him coming back to the surface, but he managed to push it down, for now, was a time to help her, not deal with his own traumas.

"The war is over padawan, the Jedi as we knew them are no more." his voice was calm, and the energy he tried to give off would be the calm she needed in the storm of her panic, he just hoped his words didn't make things worse. Opening his eyes slowly, he watched her, waiting to see what would happen next, his free hand out to keep the doctors away for a moment, he didn't want them to approach till he knew she wouldn't lash out in fear.

She could hear a strangers voice, though his words only troubled her more. She tried to deny his statement with the little strength she had.

"No.. they're.. the can't.."

The only words she could muster at the news, for she knew what he ment but did not wish to accept it. There was no resistance however, as she began to lay there sobbing at the news. There was nothing left for her to do, she had lost.

"Where.. am I..?" she eventually couraged up to ask.

When she appeared to have calmed down some, he took his hand away, waving the medical staff in to examine her, "You've been brought to Hypori. Your wreck was drifting on the border of wild space."
The staff moved around Rylan as they tended to the woman, knowing better than to try and intervene with the man, for even though he hadn't been here in some time, his reputation and position was known, "What is your name padawan? and do you remember how you ended up in the carbonite?" his curiosity was eating at him, between the cruiser, and the bits of phase II Krayte armor she wore...

He shook his head, no point speculating till there were some answers to the questions.

"Gida'Vida.. I am Gida.." She managed to answer the man as the rest of his question dawns on her. "We were escorting a prisoner of war to Coruscant when.." Gida stopped mid sentence as fear enveloped her once more. "Master, where is my Master?!" She cried out, almost demanded.

Panic took the young Padawan once more, pushing those around her away in desperation as she can't face the realities around her. The panic she shows is only added by her inability to see due to her condition.

"It is a pleasure to meet you Gida. I am Rylan Kordel." he responded, still watching her, the panic starting to set in again as she started to remember her last moments. There was a small sigh, "Calm yourself Gida, think back to your training. I know you're scared. The carbon sickness will pass with time, but lashing out will not help you or any of the fine medical staff trying to help you." while he was slightly amused at how much he sounded like his own master, Rylan hid that amusement well, for he needed to help Gida with her emotions.

Sitting back in his seat, he stroked his beard watching her, trying to figure out how to deliver the news, "There was no sign of your master, but the ship was all but destroyed from what I saw." he started, keeping a calm, level voice as he continued to speak, "The more jarring part though, is that it's been eight hundred and seventy-five years since the end of the war." if there was a moment the girl might freak more it was here.

"You and I are relics of a bygone era."

The news from Rylan hit Gida rather hard but it was also news she could not process, at least not right now. His words did not reach her in the way he had hoped, as she indeed did start to freak from the news. She did not flay wildly like a child or lash out in aggression, but rather curled in submission to the information.

"No, no, No!" She raised her voice in a panic. "What do you mean eight hundred and seventy-five years?! It couldn't have been.. how could.. NO!".

She couldn't accept the truth before her eyes, something was different. Even in her current state she could feel how off the universe was. Like entering a room where everything was freshly renovated. It was the same galaxy, but was it her galaxy? The more it spiraled through her mind the more questioned came to her, if her master died then how? Why was the ship so broken? Why was found so much later if this was the case? Why did she alone survive? Why are we relics? Wait, why did he say we?

"Why.. why did you say we?" she asked in a rather unusual calmness unbefitting her condition. He panic being subdued if only forcibly by her newfound curiosity.

The reaction wasn't much of a surprise, but it was unfortunate to a degree. "When the blindness wears off, I can give you the proof of the matter," he spoke quietly, trying to keep a level of calm in the room, as the medical staff had finally finished there job and left the room to the pair "It wasn't easy for me to accept the truth either when it was my time."

"Oh."
it had slipped his mind to explain himself when she asked why he had said we, "I was there too, I served in the clone wars, I was padawan to Master Cyrus Vol, we fought alongside the 88th Battalion." there was a sound to his voice, one that even he was surprised to hear, he hadn't talked about the Clone wars or his history with anyone in a very long time, "I survived the purge, but I didn't deserve too." Rylan's voice was quiet, regret ringing his voice as he thought back to the Fall of the Republic.

His words calmed her, even if for a moment. The name was not something she'd heard before though, did he mean the Separatist war? That was how she knew the war at the very least. "399th.. I was with the 399th Battalion" She responded but the words that followed made her heart sink. "They attacked you too..? what do you mean by a purge?" The final question being rather quiet as it left her mouth.

Her innocence in the incident would become clearer, for she had no knowledge of the fate of the war only barely surviving its final moments. Though her panic had seemingly stopped she was still having trouble adapting to her new found environment. Her body fairly weak from the statis and her sight still not returning to her yet. She decided maybe it was time to at the very least help herself recover. She took a breath as she waited for Rylan to answer her, calling apon the force to recover her wounds, even if only slightly, in an effort to speed her recovery.

"Yes, the attacked all the Jedi from what I know. Many died, some escaped..." he frowned a little, it was hard having to think back to a time he'd tried to close his mind off to for so long, "The Supreme Chancellor, he was the second Sith Lord. Apparently he orchestrated the whole war and had the clones specially created with chips that gave them special instructions. Order 66, kill the Jedi." he leaned forward a bit, his mind racing, reliving all the horrors that followed the order.

Glancing at Gida, his face was covered in sorrow, and some jealousy almost at how she'd managed to escape, "The Republic was remade into an Empire, the war was over, and those of us that survived had been labeled as traitors, marked for execution on sight." more memories flooded back, images of the clones giving chase, the dead of Master Vol, the faking of his own death to escape. "I'm sorry, this must be incredibly hard to listen too. We don't need to continue this discussion any further at the moment if you'd rather know other things." there was no need to overwhelm the girl with all the details, and what details should he leave out? So much happened, and a lot of it, he was embarrassed to admit.

Rylan Kordel Rylan Kordel was right in assuming it was hard for her to listen to. To hear all she worked for to be for nothing, to know not only that she was vowed to protect was no more but the order that protected it also was no more. Gida could only ball up at the news, she didn't want to believe it but like before and since waking up the galaxy felt off.

"Then.. where am I..?" she finally asks, breaking the silence she created by changing the topic. "You said confederacy space.. is that the empire you spoke of..?" she asks trying to learn of her current situation rather then the past.

"No, that Confederacy as we knew it was destroyed not long after the clones turned on us." his brow furrowed slightly, thinking about how best to explain events, then an idea came to him. Grabbing the rucksack he kept with him, Rylan pulled out a holocron and placed it between them, then focused until it activated, the image of Master Obi-wan Kenobi appearing and starting to speak, a little jumpy in it's opening

"Th-this is Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. I regret to report that both our Jedi Order and the Republic have fallen. With the dark shadow of the Empire rising to take their place. This message is a warning and a reminder for any surviving Jedi. Trust in the force. Do not return to the temple, that time has passed. And our future is uncertain. We will each be challenged, our trust, our faith, our friendships. But we must persevere. And in time, a new hope will emerge. May the force be with you."

As the message ended, Rylan just sat still in silence for a few minutes, before finally clearing his throat, "The Confederacy of today, it's a new version, the same dream, but... It's different in many ways, while also the same. I'm no salesman, I could never pitch you a great dream of what it is, I've got my issues only because I remember the one we fought against." there was a frown, then a sigh as he slumped back in his seat, trying to figure out how his life brought him to this point.

Gida heard the words spoken from the Holocron, she couldn't deny her situation anymore not after hearing Obi-wans warning. This was her new reality it seemed. Rylans words that followed peeked her curiosity more though."Why are you here then..? I'm sure the war left its own scares on you.. so why help the confederacy?"

She started to relax at this point, much had happened in a short time and much had been learned. The fact she was alright before and since thawing is a good sign, she's not in any immediate danger. But it was also the confederacy.. though it was a new confederacy. She had to be cautious still, atleast for now until she could understand her current situation in full.

(OOC: Sorry for the long wait on a reply, suffered a shoulder injury and haven't been up to writing)

At the question asked, he frowned slightly, thinking about it for a few minutes. "I guess because, after everything else I've been through, it's the first time I've felt like I've had a family since the fall of the order." he finally answered, looking over at the young Twi'lek, it seemed like forever ago when he was a Jedi Padawan, in a lot of ways that was true, in some ways, it didn't really seem like it had been that long either.

Watching her for a few more minutes, contemplation on his face, he finally smiled a little, "What do you plan on doing now that you're awake? It's a big galaxy, and lots have changed. The Jedi are restructured in a few different groups with different ideologies. Different alliances and factions have risen. The Sith run rampant with their own Empire once again." why he was telling her all of this, he wasn't sure, but a small part of him had maybe hoped she'd ask to come back to Geonosis with him and be inducted into the CIS, but he could also see her wanting to find the Jedi, after all, that was the life she knew best, wasn't it?
