Given the current situation, Jonyna was pretty much stuck on Ukatis for the next few months. She felt it. Bloated, sluggish. She kept up with her work, the Dawn of Hope still hung over the night sky of the planet, but Jonyna had at least gotten herself away from the strenuous work.

No, instead she was dealing with the part she hated doing. The tedium of tracking numbers. Men, materials, vehicles, construction.

She needed a relief. Her growing stomach didn't help her feel any more nimble, and working out wasn't making it any smaller.

A stray text caught her eye.

Taam was coming to visit her.

Suddenly, her heart couldn't help but flutter. What she would give for someone to accompany her on these long nights...

The text missive was sent. Taam sensed it was time. The Dawn of Hope was at Ukatis, where a momumental rebuid effort was underway for the heavily devastated world. While in need of all the help they could muster, Taam was also aware that the Councilwoman Jonyna Si was overseeing aspects of the restoration work.

They had parted ways on good terms, or as good as one might expect. Since then, they rarely had contact, not as friends, not as colleagues. The Galaxy once again exploded, and they each had a role to fill in the massive efforts of the GA and NJO.

But Jonyna had never left his thoughts. He moved on, as she had. Taam kept tabs on her, if he were honest, following her ascention to the Council, rumors of her romances, her manifold actions in the line of service. For his part, Taam had fought on Woostri and Tython, and had taken up a padawan, a Denik no less, kindred of Jonyna herself. They were both doing their duty.

But it was more than just thoughts. They were good together. He was strong and powerful among the Guardians, but she made Taam stronger. Everytime he donned the Cathar armored coat, or picked up the songsteel blade she had forged for him, Taam was reminded of their strength, of the savage binding of their hearts, of the nights that never seemed to end.

Taam wanted her back. Friend, lover, battle partner... what it might look like, he couldn't know. All he knew was he wanted her at his side again. All he knew was that he could never forget those nights.

It would start with a simple visit. Taam knew Jonyna. She was faithful to the Order, and would do her best in orchestrating the work on Ukatis. But he knew her bones would be burning to jump into fire somewhere, to run through a wood, to streak through a fleet. Maybe a visit from an old... whatever... would lift her up.

The Pride arrived amid the Dawn of Hope fleet. And he came knocking on her door.

Jonyna had been stationed aboard the Dawnbreaker, but she'd spent the last month bouncing between ships, checking on numbers, keeping herself busy as much as she could. Because that's who she was. An eternally busy cat, trying to string the wold together.

But today was the first day she felt...tired.

Tired enough to stay aboard the Dawnbreaker, and do it all digitally. Something she struggled with, and basically had to have Dice delegate out tasks himself.

Then a knock came. Her quarters were nice, but it was no Reaper. No Tenacity.

Crawling out of bed, she didn't look her greatest. Slightly messy hair, only wearing her traditional Cathar Cambala., and a pair of shorts.

"Come in." Jonyna purred, as she opened the door. Looking up to the slightly taller Taam, she couldn't give but give a tired smile. "Hey."

It took just a few inquiries to track down Jonyna. He was told by operations coordinators that the Denik master usually made the rounds of the main ships in the relief fleet, but that day was working from her quarters on the Dawnbreaker. Taam docked the modified courier aboard the command ship and found his way to her quarters.

The door slid open.

What greeted him was not the Jedi Master Jonyna Si, Council member and Sentinel of Harmony. It was an attractive but disheveled Denik in a familiar cambala that looked like she just fell out of bed. To Taam, she looked much more like the Jonyna he remembered waking up with. His Lithka. But that was more than a year ago.

It was unexpected, but the curt greeting and the weary tone of her voice spoke volumes of the burden she bore in her new positions.

"Hey..." He replied, stepping in and looking around her quarters. It was comfortable enough, but nothing like the Reaper. His gaze returned to Jonyna, something was different, her figure was...fuller.

"Did I catch you on a bad day?" He added. "I've come to help... and to see you." Taam admitted, wondering if either was welcome at that point.

"I appreciate it, really." Jonyna smiled weakly, before gesturing for him to come inside. "Come on, I just got done making my bed. Might as well mess it up."

As they entered, Jonyna's tail instinctively reached for Taam's leg, as old habits once more died hard.

"I...was hoping to talk soon, honestly. I've tried to keep myself active after I broke up with Jenn, but...I hate being alone." Jonyna sighed as she sat on the edge of the bed. "Sorry, I'm making this about me. How are you?"

Taam stepped into the room. There was a weariness in Jonyna's voice and in her azure gaze that was not familiar. He knew what Jonyna was like in the exahuastion after a hard fight, or a good night. This was different, it sounded mental, but there was something more.

What was familiar was the feel of her tail curling around his leg, a comforting habit between them, when Jonyna was his Lithka. Taam chuckled lightly at the Denik's comment, following to stand next to the bed as she sat on it's edge.

"I know..." He replied. He had heard about Jonyna's break up with the Mandalorian. He sat on the bed next to her. "I am doing well. I have been working with Nir. I can see the Si in him..." Taam said with a small smile.

"But I am here about you. I should have come to see you sooner." He made clear, his hand resting on her knee. His intent was not only altruistic, to ensure the overworked Councilwoman was alright. Taam missed her. Visiting Jonyna was a desire that had taken a back seat to war, as well as her mounting responsibilities. Taam had grown accustomed to being alone, when he was Wandering. But after being with Jonyna, there was a nagging emptiness that remained. He tried to fill it a time or two with the company of someone else, but had yet to find a way to assuage that absence.

"<I know the feeling of being surrounded, and completely alone.>" Taam shrugged. His hand shifted, reaching an arm around her to place a large hand on her shoulder. His strong fingers pressed into the stress-tightened muscles there, working them. "<Today is a good day to take a respite. How are you...really?>"

Jonyna let out a sigh. <Well, I'm not alone anymore...> She admitted, taking a moment to rub her stomach. <I finally paid the price for years of living life to the fullest. No idea who, but...> She paused, looking up with a bit of pity towards the male. <I was hoping they'd have someone to look to regardless in that spot. I know our relationship has been...rocky, but...>

She couldn't say the words. Not yet.

She did still love him. She still loved him, and Giran, and Jenn. It was a fault of hers. The ones she fell for, she could never unfall.

At first, when Jonyna said she wasn't alone anymore, Taam assumed she had found someone. A subtle pang of disappointment fluttered, but he shouldn't have been surprised. But it took only a glance at the hand rubbing her stomach, and the confession about her lifestyle, for the truth to hit him.

Jonyna was pregnant.

The misguided disappointment melted into a myriad of feelings. Admittedly, one was jealousy. He too still loved Jonyna, carrying a candle for her even as he had moved to the fringes of her life. That love quickly overwhelmed any other emotion. What he saw in her when he walked in now made sense, and the tone of her voice betrayed a vulnerability that tugged on Taam's heart.
There was no judgement.

What Jonyna said, and what she didn't ask, were so much like her. Direct, tactful, but to the point. The Denik woman was not only a valiant warrior and champion, she was a nurturer. Already, she was thinking about the future for her loala. Affection for Jonyna swelled within Taam, seeing again the depth of who Jonyna was, what most others never saw. The woman inside the hero. The woman he had fallen in love with.

Taam's large hand slid from Jonyna's shoulder, to lay it over Jonyna's as it rested on her stomach. There was a heavy pause as he weighed the gravity of the moment. It was true, he had come with the intent of making Jonyna a part of his life again, in some way. Taam didn't expect the bombshell Jonyna delivered. At the news settled in, mingled with feelings he still harbored for the Denik, Taam found a resolve arise. He desired to care for Jonyna, and that meant her child too. It wasn't because she needed him... it was because he wanted her.

"Lithka," he used the pet name he had given her, his voice a soft baritone. He still loved her, but Taam wasn't sure Jonyna was ready, or wanted, to hear it. "I am here now, I came here for you."

Loala = baby

Jonyna couldn't help but lean into Taam's touch. Especially now, more than ever, she was so, so lonely. Touch starved and desperate for any form of affection. The hand on her shoulder, then on her stomach.

"Hold me, Taamcat..." She whined, as she leaned her head over to his shoulder. "I miss us. I miss being held in bed, and being told that you love me. Fuck, I miss just...being loved."

The one thing she knew was her weak spot. To be loved. Giran had left her to become a sage. Sevs had been lost to time. Jenn had taken a different path. She didn't hold it against any of them. She couldn't. Jealousy was a pointless emotion, as was spite. She often joked back in the day that she couldn't be jealous of Giran, because they were stuck in the same boat.

The reality was, she just found the emotion a little pointless. If you're jealous of someone, go make your own legend.

But hurt was still there. Jonyna had always felt hurt whenever someone left her.

For now though, she wanted Taam back. She wanted to be loved.

She wanted her Loala to have a father...

Taam couldn't deny how good it felt to be close to her again, to feel her lean into him, to hear her heart. Jonyna Si was a legend in two eras, role-model to younglings, admired by peers, honored by leaders, all of which she rightfully earned through sweat and blood and a very big heart. But the Jonyna Taam loved was also a woman with needs, vulnerabilities and pesonal desires.

His arm wrapped around her again, holding the Denik closer against him, feeling the warmth of her body. He missed that, nearly every night. His head turned to nuzzle her mane of auburn hair. He breathed soft words.

"I miss you too...I miss ya by my side, in my bed, in my head. But, damn Lithka, you have never left my heart." He pressed a kiss to her head. "You won't go through this alone. You won't have to go through anything alone now."

Taam had been alone, truly alone, since he left Jonyna. Loneliness seemed like such a deep void after being with someone like Jonyna. He had not sought to fill it with someone else, those were boots too big to fill. So Taam had dived into the order, training and getting to know Nir, he had grown in that time too.
