Intent: A standard suit of beskar’gam for the spacefaring mando’ade of Clan Rekali.
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: Clan Rekali
Model: Clan Rekali Beskar’gam - Rekali’gam
Affiliation: Clan Rekali
Modularity: Bracers can hold a variety of modular weapons, as detailed below. Backplate can fit repulsorpacks or jetpacks.
Production: Minor
Material: Mandalorian steel, havod, armorweave, power armor liner, tusks/spines of various creatures (jakobeast, nexu, terentatek, etc.)
Classification: Multipurpose
Weight: 12kg
Quality: 7 (plates), 5 (other areas)
Special Features:
  • Mandalorian steel plates resist lightsabres, as a tree to an axe.
  • Armorweave provides limited lightsabre resistance against glancing blows.
  • Personal deflector shield generators, including particle shield functionality, protect rekali’gam from micrometeoroids and space debris, along with little things like weapons fire.
  • Talented Force crafters can use the armor, especially the tusk spikes, as the basis for various low-level or standard effects. (Anything more advanced would require its own submission.)
  • Rekali’gam is vacuum-rated, temperature-controlled, and optimized for space operations. Elements include air recyclers, a small air supply, magnetic boots and gloves, patch kits, self-sealing functions, and a basic hyperspace compass (which simply bears on the centre of the galaxy, providing a fixed point of reference at all times).
  • Some high-ranking Rekalis, depending on the situation, will add a kama (Mandalorian partial kilt/skirt) made of Witchmaster Tigerhide.
  • Boots and gauntlets contain tiny emergency maneuvering thrusters.
  • Instead of a jetpack or repulsorpack, some Rekalis opt to carry a folded sail made of Neebray Wingleather.
  • Helmets contain a standard array of multi-spectral Mandalorian helmet sensors. Some high-ranking Rekalis also have a Bloodtrace Scanpack for determining Force-sensitivity.
  • Modular weapons mounts on the gauntlets can hold a variety of equipment, generally wrist blasters, flamethrowers, low-visibility slugthrowers, and the trademark Rekali hard-sound guns. Lethal for in-atmosphere combat, and immensely useful against Jedi and Sith alike, the hard-sound guns can also be discharged in vacuum by placing the emitter directly against a starship’s hull. This method of use can produce powerful, painful reverberations just on the other side of the hull plate. The hard-sound guns can even set up sympathetic resonance and crack glasteel/transparisteel viewports, if applied directly to the viewports or the nearby hull.
  • By default, rekali’gam includes a small cutting torch in the left bracer. This torch is optimized for breaching airlocks and viewports, or for repair and salvage operations.
Strengths:
  • Optimized for extravehicular space operations, including boarding, repair, and maintenance.
  • Some Force-crafting-related customization options, mostly minor effects.
Weaknesses:
  • When fully kitted for space operations, some elements (such as visible air hoses) can be vulnerable. For example, breached air hoses would leave the wearer dependent on the air recyclers inside the helmet. This weakness is partially, but not wholly, mitigated by making the air hoses out of flexible Mandalorian steel. A couple of blaster shots will still breach the hoses easily enough.

Description: Visually, rekali’gam is a throwback to the Mandalorian Crusader armor of ten thousand years ago. It also draws from the aesthetics and symbolism of the Dathomiri Witches and the Vahla tribes, both of which make up significant parts of the Clan Rekali identity. It is very common to find rekali’gam painted with Dathomiri or Vahla runes.

Rekali’gam is nearly ideal for boarding operations and other space-related functions, such as space whaling and extravehicular repair. It provides respectable protection against weapons fire, but its main utility lies in its ability to prevent, resist, and mitigate incidental space damage. Your average piece of small space junk will be deflected or slowed by personal shields, then either glance off plate or be slowed by armourweave, then have any breach sealed almost instantly. Larger breaches and injuries can be handled via patch kits and pressure cuffs, both of which are standard in the rekali’gam toolbelt.

Though the armor contains tiny emergency maneuvering thrusters, and is fully compatible with repulsorpacks or jetpacks, some Rekalis prefer to carry a pack which holds a folded sail of Neebray Wingleather. Controlling such a sail requires great athleticism and instinct, as well as a good bit of training. However, when properly used, these sails allow Rekalis to move through short distances of space without drive glows or emissions, at nearly jetpack-equivalent rates of acceleration.
