STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
+ Knight-Errant: Having been trained by the Jedi Order from his mid teens, Reiner has roughly developed and obtained the necessary skill and experience to be considered a Jedi Knight in his own right. A distinction he struggles to live up to.
+ Gearhead: Reiner is a gifted mechanic with a natural sense and knack for technology. He is particularly well versed in planetary vehicles and their associated security systems.
+ Guile Hero: Fluent in Lorrdian Kinetic Communication, allowing him to read and replicate body language of humans and near-humans with a high degree of accuracy. Through training he has become adept using this same skill to deceive those around him and temporarily adopt new personas as part of his former undercover work.
+/- Tinfoil Hat: Due to his Epicanthix heritage, Reiner has an exceptionally high resistance to force-based mentalism. Maybe because of this same trait, however, Reiner has absolutely no affinity with the discipline himself and cannot even pull off the most basic of mind tricks.
- Imposter: Reiner has noted issues surrounding his sense of self-worth and identity, constantly feeling the need to prove himself and his place within the galaxy. If only to himself, if not in the eyes of those around him. This can make him particularly reckless and foolhardy at the most inopportune of times. It is believed these issues are further exasperated by both his Lorrdian background and the frequent undercover work he has undertaken since he was a padawan leaner.
- Man Apart: The above is perhaps made worse by his fierce independent streak, having grown up largely self-reliant and having had that very same trait encouraged by his master during his apprenticeship. Reiner frequently tackles problems alone, personally shouldering the costs, burdens and associated dangers therein without a second thought.
- Master of None: In terms of the force, Reiner also isn’t the most knowledgeable individual. While Shen imparted a great deal of wisdom in the years they were together, his lack of interaction with the wider Jedi community has left him very narrowly focused, creating a noticeable and sizable gap in his education that he struggles to fill on his own.
APPEARANCE:
Noticeably tall for a human, yet somewhat shorter than a pureblood Epicanthix by a good few inches. Possesses a lean build more commonly associated with athleticism and agility than raw force and brute strength. Wears nondescript spacer clothing that would quickly blend him in with riffraff the galaxy over.
Dark hair, closely cropped. Perpetual scruff-turned-week old beard. Thin scar bisecting right eyebrow, corresponds to further scarring on side of head. Narrow, sharp hazel eyes that seem to inquisitively track their surroundings with a hawkish intensity. Quick to smile, slower to mean it.
BIOGRAPHY:
A child from a broken home, Reiner was raised in the lower levels of the sprawling ecumenopolis that is Coruscant, the son of an absentee mother and a largely disinterested father. As the kind of kid that took to raising all manner of trouble to get a little attention, it wasn’t long before he was running errands and boosting speeders for the various petty gangs that dwell down there between the cracks of society and the lengthy shadows cast by the high-rises. His Lorrdian background helping him drift between the ever shifting factions, seamlessly slotting in and developing connections before moving on.
A sealed record paints the picture of stints spent in several of Coruscant’s finest juvenile detention facilities, developing quite the reputation as one of the leading suspects in speeder theft and petty larceny across several levels. A reputation that eventually caused him to cross paths with the Jedi Investigator Shala Shen whilst they were attached to the Coruscant Security Force. Recognizing the natural talent and nascent affinity with the force within Reiner, Shen set about trying to redeem the young teen, recruiting him first as an informant before eventually pulling him into the world of the Jedi
An unconventional student for an unconventional Jedi, Reiner spent the vast majority of his formative padawan years working in the field alongside Shen, rarely (if ever) finding his way inside an actual Jedi Temple. It has only been in recent months, since his promotion to Jedi knight, that he has found cause enough to spend time outside of criminal dens, smuggler havens and the seedier reaches of the galaxy.
