Description: The Empire has always been known for its vehicles. From the AT-AT to the speeder bike, they've had a diverse variety. One of the often overlooked needs of the Empire is the need for a patrol and recon vessel. Previously this would have only been accomplished with the noisy, and clumsy, AT-PT's and AT-ST's. While these vehicles have their purpose, and aren't worthless by any means, some planets call for vessels of greater speed, that don't require a connection to the ground in order to propel themselves. Thusly comes the recon speeder.
While she's fast and relatively heavily armed, there is no mobility to the turret, no shielding, and only medium grade armor by comparison to some of the other Imperial vessels. These weaknesses are countered with heavy fire power and speed, making it mobile and maneuverable when it needs to be. This isn't a tank, and was never designed to be a tank. It's sole purpose is to peruse the battlefield and report back on whatever it finds, or patrol lands of conquered worlds.
Equipped with standard communications and sensors, it essentially acts as a manned version of a probe droid, but with greater armor and weaponry. The stashed survival gear means that the troopers manning the vessel have a greater chance of survival even if the vessel breaks down, or they need to stop for the night. Add the open seating and there's a wide range of vision, allowing for ease of spotting enemies. The Quad Recon Speeder will serve an essential recon and patrol function for the Remnant's ground forces.
