GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Singular: Reddl Plural: Reddla Adjective: Reddlar
  • Designation: Non-sentient
  • Origins: Aed'a, a planet in another galaxy.
  • Average Lifespan: 20 years
  • Estimated Population: Rare
  • Description: The Reddla are an incredibly diverse species with similar genetic shifting capabilities as the Thraeda. This has led them to be of all sizes, colors, and attitudes, often specially bred/shaped into specialized forms when the Thraeda needed them.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type 1 & 2
  • Average Height of Adults: Reddla are a diversity of sizes depending on their environment / any artificial altering of their growing process. Most are between 65cm to 91cm.
  • Average Length of Adults: Most are between 91cm to 190cm
  • Skin color: Extremely Varied, with the amount of breeding/alteration done by the Thraeda barely anything is off-limits.
  • Hair color: Extremely Varied
  • Distinctions: The Reddla are similar to the Thraeda in their ability to express different genetics as they grow up, their body subconsciously deciding early in their life what adaptations they'll need to survive in whatever environment they are in. This could be anything from armor plates, colorations, larger, smaller, or specialized teeth, and instinctual hunting techniques. Early on this proved incredibly beneficial to the Thaeda as a beast who could be tamed and shared their unique ability would go on to help them conquer their planet. Later on, however, most Reddla were civilian-owned and specially modified to do away with their more violent tendencies and often were the first beasts to accompany colony ships to alien worlds. The United Thraedar Navy, the governing body of Thraeda within this galaxy, experimented with the Reddla on the Long Trek between galaxies to create specialized forms to help their military and scouting teams. These vicious creatures are what this galaxy has become accompanied to, often accompanying Thraeda forces into conflict.
  • Races: The Reddla are a species of diversity, there are countless breeds out there and they come in many shapes and sizes but always keep the same rough shape.
  • Force Sensitivity: Rare
Strengths:
  • Perfect Adaptation: Reddla has a vast cache of genetic information within their genetics and are able to subconsciously pick and choose from this cache to shape themselves as they grow up depending on environmental conflicts around them. This allows them to colonize any planet that whatever Reddla are introduced to can survive on long enough to form a small breeding population. This cache can also be accessed by technological means to be used later in the Reddla's life, allowing living creatures to be shaped into specialized forms for use by their masters with whom they bond very quickly.
  • Tough Hide: One universal aspect of the Reddla is their armor, whether this is thick leathery hide or boney armor plates, the Reddla can often survive several direct shots from a blaster before becoming seriously injured.
  • Teeth like Swords: One thing that has been introduced by the Thraeda to the Reddla is many adaptations to their teeth, reinforcing them to be as strong as metal and as durable as it too. It started off as simply a way to prevent household pets from getting cavities or the like, but the United Thraedar Navy has continued the adaptation to make it useful in wartime scenarios.
  • Incredibly Scent Sensors: Reddla's main way of interacting with the world is through scent. It is through scent that the subconscious determine what environment they are in and what the best adaptations for that environment would be. And it is with scent that the Reddla are able to track and hunt their prey from kilometers away by following their trail look a blood hound.
Weaknesses:
  • Adaptive Damages: Young Reddla, or those going through artificially stimulated changes, go through incredible pain and are basically useless during their changes. The only thing that can be done is to implement drugs or dampen their nerves during the process, and this often leaves them just as useless.
  • Chosen Design: The Reddla's ability to adapt is not instantaneous, and should a toxin, poison, or disease be introduced to them that they were not prepared for it can very easily destroy their immune system, especially since many such substances within this galaxy are foreign to their immune system's genetic caches.
  • Nosey Nose Nose: Since the Reddla relies so heavily on their nose to sense their surroundings and other beings, should it be harmed severely it can make it difficult for them to determine friend or foe. Perhaps one of the easiest ways to deal with them is to disable this organ and force them to rely on their inferior eyes and ears.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivore, relying mostly on meat and carrion.
  • Communication: Barks, Growls, and Bellows
  • Technology level: N/A
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
  • General behavior: Reddla are pack hunters. In the wild, they tend to live in groups of between a dozen or twenty individuals (not including young) and establish large territories they travel through nomadically and are fiercely protective of. Domesticated Reddla are incredibly loyal, easy to train, and intelligent, allowing them to be trained to do specialized tasks and take complex orders from trained handlers.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

It is believed that the Reddla were the earliest beasts domesticated by the Thraeda, probably due to their similar abilities and similar choice in habitat. How exactly this domestication happened is unknown due to even the earliest recorded history mentioning these beasts by their masters' side. They have acted as companions to warriors, hunting aids, guide and help animals, and just plain old household pets. It was only natural then that these beasts should be one of the very few to accompany the Thraeda on their expedition to this foreign galaxy, and really the only one not to simply be frozen embryos or genetic caches waiting for the first colonies where they'd be given live. These beasts were a massive morale boost throughout the Great Trek, and even helped keep law and order as specialized hounds of the United Thraedar Navy's police and security forces.
