Private Red Rabbit Signal

It had been quite some time since I'd last been to Taspir III. My main base had gathered a bit of dust, but well… that's just how things go, isn't it? A lot had happened since the dissolution of the Diarchy.

The last time I was here, I had accompanied one of the leaders of the Jedi Order to show him my work, but also to try and gain a better understanding of the Force alongside him. Things had changed considerably since then. I gradually reactivate the base's main systems. Well… level minus two is another story. That one is still being powered by something. Which is probably for the best without power, the containment chambers would most likely have exploded a long time ago. That would have been rather inconvenient. Either way, I'm going to have to relocate a good portion of the facilities. This place no longer really falls under my jurisdiction since the Diarchy ceased to exist.

On the other hand, I have considerably more financial resources than I used to. I can afford a brand-new laboratory now, and with everything I've learned since then, I could probably double, perhaps even triple, the power of my current weapons. It doesn't even sound that unreasonable anymore. The problem is that rebuilding everything is going to take time. A lot of time. I have to start again from scratch. And then there's something else. I need to stop thinking like a dark-side user. If I really have become some sort of "grey" Force user, then I need to understand what that actually means. I need to understand what I've become and, more importantly, what I intend to do with this new path.

But one thing at a time. For now, I bring my laboratory back online. The manual control panels light up one after another as I go through the various security protocols. I enter a new name into the system: Liin. That way, she won't get attacked when she comes here. That would be rather unfortunate. A smile forms on my lips. There's something deliciously ironic about all of this. My very first science teacher is coming to visit me in my own laboratory.

Oh yes… I'm going to enjoy this.

Once the final preparations are complete, I head down to my private quarters on level minus three. Everything is ready to welcome my old friend. What sweet irony. I pour myself a glass of whisky, grab a few ice cubes from the refrigerator in my apartment, and make myself comfortable while I wait for her arrival. The landing pad is on the upper level. Liin will be able to pass through the shield and land there without the slightest problem. And since the entire base is underground, we'll also be safely hidden from prying eyes.

Perfect for our little meeting. I settle into the couch and casually put my feet up on the coffee table. After all, this is my home. I slowly swirl the glass between my fingers, watching the ice cubes drift through the whisky as I patiently await her arrival.

"The defenses are disabled… Now all I have to do is wait for her to arrive."
