"I'm quite seriously thinking about how much I love you, and it's leading me to weird thoughts sometimes."​

A few things went through Cross' head at once, mostly along the lines of simply proposing to Rikki right now. He found himself stroking her hair again as he looked at her thoughtfully, and came to his decision. It still didn't feel right to ask her now. The redhead jokingly patted his girlfriend's rear as he began getting up.​

"I think I'll tell you in the shower, Princess. I gotta find my pants real quick, though."​

​

The ring was in one of the pockets of his pants, and he was going to propose to her in the shower.​

Rikki reluctantly got up from Cross's chest. Her hair wasn't in a braid anymore. It was frizzed and poofy like the mane of a lion, with feathers scattered about the curls. She took a moment to study her bare self in the mirror. She didn't look like she'd put on any weight. That was always good. Her tattoos traveled down her body in their normal patterns, with no separations or oddities created by injuries. Also good. Giving her appearance a 10/10 rating, she made her way into the spacious bathroom.​

Hm. Pretty damn fancy, if she did say so herself. Rikki stepped into the large shower and turned on the water to begin wetting her hair and washing the sweat and feathers off of her body.​

While Rikki was admiring herself in the mirror, Cross went looking for his pants. He found them under the flipped-over couch, with the ring still inside. Excellent. He closed his hand around the little box, and put it down within relatively easy reach of the shower. Then he climbed in and gently put an arm around Rikki's waist, sinking his face into the hair she was massaging.​

"We could sit in here after we're done, too. Fill it up with warm water and relax. Cuddle here instead of the room we just caused to implode, maybe?"​

He smiled as he talked. What was there for him not to be happy about?​

​

"I love you, Rikki."​

Rikki grinned at the wall as Cross spoke. She reached over and grabbed a bottle of body wash, handing it to him.​

"I know, Cross. I love you, too. I love you so much that I trust you to wash me."​

She glanced at him behind her, giving him a teasing smirk.​

Cross kissed Rikki's smirking mouth as he began to lather her up. His hands worked their way up from her legs, and his mouth went down to the spot where he'd bitten her before. He kissed it gently.​

"I'm assuming that there was a whole mess of innuendos in that sentence. Hopefully, I get around to them all."​

Rikki let out a small gasp of pleasure as Cross started biting and kissing her again. She looked down at him, smiling until all of her teeth were showing.​

"Keep this up, and I'll have to wash you back..."​

Cross looked up from Rikki's shoulder and kissed her nose.​

"We can talk about that wonderful threat in a moment... But..."​

The red-haired admiral felt his face get a bit warm, and a nervous smile crawled its way across his face.​

"Rikki, you can't be my girlfriend anymore."​

Rikki's warm and happy morning came to a sudden and unexpected halt. Her smile suddenly vanished, replaced by a blank frown.​

"What? I can't be.... You're.... You're breaking up with me??!!"​

The frown quickly changed to a hurt and angry glare. She shut off the water and got out of the shower, not caring that she was still soapy and dripping wet. She went into the main suite, picking up her close with fast and jerky motions.​

"You know, it's one thing to lie to someone's face. But to hook up with me after two months, going on and on about how much you missed me and how much you loved ME, when all you wanted was a HUMP 'N DUMP?! That is the LOWEST, MOST DISGUSTING THING you could ever do, you FRAKKING FEIR'FEK!!!!"​

Rikki's voice sounded like she was on the verge of tears as she hastily threw on her shirt and her shorts, her back turned to the bathroom. She didn't even want to look at him anymore.​

Okay, so that joke had blown up all over Cross' face. He didn't really know whether to feel angry at himself for screwing up so badly, or at Rikki for not knowing him well enough to be able to tell that there was something completely different going on. He pulled on his boxers as fast as he could, picked up the ring out of its box, and quietly walked up to her.​

"Rikki. I'm honestly hurt that you don't know me better than that."​

​

He sighed and his voice dropped to almost a mutter.​

​

"You wouldn't be my girlfriend if I was engaged to you."​

Rikki whipped around to tell him exactly where to shove his "hurt" when she saw the ring. She sort of froze, like someone had hit the pause button on a holo-vid. Wait.... Cross was..... proposing? As in... MARRIAGE??? ​

"Is that? Are you?.... Oh God, I'm such an idiot!"​

Rikki's cheeks went two shades darker as she covered her face with her hands.​

Cross smiled as Rikki froze and put her hands on her face. His arm went around her waist, and he squeezed her as he leaned his forehead down against hers.​

"I had a lot of time to think about it, and I realized I really, really wanted us to be together forever."​

​

He very gently pulled her right hand away from her face and slipped the ring on her finger.​

​

"Part of what helped me decide was probably looking through my dad's old journals. My parents were just like we are now. Well, except my mom took that joke better than you did. I'm sorry it sounded that bad."​

Rikki looked down at the beautiful ring Cross placed on her finger. Rubies! Typical Cross. She laughed, wiping tears from her eyes.​

"I-I'm so sorry, Red. I don't know why I would even..... I'm so stupid! I'm sorry."​

She hugged him tightly.​

Cross ran a hand through Rikki's hair as he stared into her eyes.​

"It's okay. You're my best friend, my princess, and now you're my fiancee, too. You're stuck with me forever and ever and ever, Rikki."​

He brought the hand with the ring on it up to his mouth and kissed it, before placing it on his cheek.​

Rikki couldn't help but cry a little as she laughed. This was really happening! Cross was going to marry her! She couldn't contain her excitement. She practically jumped on him, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him as deeply as was physically possible.​

Cross picked Rikki up off the floor and collapsed into the one armchair that hadn't been flipped over. She ended up in his lap, and he grinned at her as he kissed her just as deeply as she'd kissed him. After about a minute he pulled away, gently stroking her hair and looking into her eyes.​

"Should we go somewhere else? Home, or Hapes, or anywhere? Where d'you want to go, Princess?"​

Rikki put her hands on his chest, looking down at him and smiling.​

"Let's go... everywhere."​

"Mmmm, everywhere. You pick the nicest trips, darlin'."​

Cross smiled as he began stroking Rikki's horns instead of her hair and put his mouth to her ear.​

"Are we going to pick stops again, Admiral?"​

Rikki was visibly aroused by the stroking of her sensitive horns. It took her a few moments to respond.​

"Well... I hear Bespin has a gorgeous sunset this time of year... Admiral. I could get used to that."​

She joked, leaning into Cross and kissing him.​

Cross chuckled as he pulled Rikki closer into the kiss and took her hand again. She felt really warm. Why did he always notice that whenever they were close? Whatever. He just let his mouth move however it wanted to.​

It was a few minutes before Rikki pulled back for a moment.​

"I just realized something. My clothes are really wet now. And I still have soap that needs to be washed off..."​

As she spoke, she slowly began to remove her clothing again.​
