Red Garden Pt.2 (Camellia Swift)

Continuation of Red Garden Pt.1

the research building was made, at least for a quickly assembled one from prefabricated sections while they were working with the locals to set up emitters to keep predators away. At least for as long as they had the pieces of tech they were working to reverse engineer and cannibalize as holo emitters and displays were showing. Ayumi sat at one of the desks while she was going over the pieces from the converters created from different parts and she was looking at Camellia. "I know this is often the boring phase but there is some good news, we might be able to have one or two parts of it able to work. Sadly we don't have the finer machines for making some of these exotic pieces."

Well, sadly Camellia knew she was one of the few people out there who was willing to cooperate with business ventures even when they moved into the boring phase. However, she was more than happy to help out a friend, especially Ayumi who did a lot to help her whenever she needed someone to help out her during the boring parts of her research as well. Plus, how could she really ever say no to the other woman after the time they spent stuck inside the turbolift when working on the Centurion project. "Well hopefully by the time we move along we have the capacity to do some of those exotic pieces when we fix your machines up more. Until then whatever we can achieve now is likely ahead of whatever efforts others have ongoing anyway,"

Ayumi was looking at her and she had a grin on her face as she brought up some of the information. Holoemitters set up displaying design specs as she was going over the things. They had machines fabricating some parts they could put into the converters before they were working it out. "The real trick of it is going to be applying that research to what we have. Assuming we could get one hundred percent energy efficiency which would and should be impossible. We'll need a strong power source and the raw matter to convert." She was bringing up some plans while looking over it. "I am checking some of the self fabricating modules older ships used on planets. To make more droids and some of the materials for themselves."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

That certainly did seem impossible, the only way to really make up for the excess raw materials was to increase the energy output of the device in question immensely. To reach 100% conversion they would need one or the other, and it seemed more reasonable to focus on increasing the energy aspect over anything else. Although in Camellia's opinion, they probably wouldn't achieve 100%, at best they could maybe reach the point where they could maybe hit eighty to ninety percent conversion in the process. The question was how to reach that point. "That sounds good, but I have to wonder how to achieve a decent conversion rate like you want. If you think about increasing the size of the machine, and building a factory around it, you could supposedly build a powerplant like a ship's reactor to feed it with energy, and the machine could be respecced to have more outlets and generation sections to make many smaller items like the droids. It would be a myth to imagine creating entire starships. . . . you really would need something like the Starforge for an undertaking like that."

"Yes we would need a bigger thing and ships is out of the question but disposing of scrap on a ship and converting it to hull plates for repairs, damaged components and getting the pieces to machine new ones for it. Could increase the sustainability of a ship with the right systems in line. The idea that was being tossed around was simply sustainability and wanting for nothing. Enough of what you need in storage and you could make new clothing or enact repairs a lot faster then going into a drydock." Ayumi had a vision, a dream and she also knew Cam was correct in her thinking and comments.... It was something that would require a lot of power and short of getting a bunch of reactors to power it could be dangerous.

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

That actually sounded like an incredible idea, and if they were able to make it work, then a ship could in theory cheapen the cost of repairs by a large margin. Just as well, if they could pull off a way that they could at least create a factory version that could construct droids then they could perhaps make smaller versions of that they could put on ships to build repair droids to effect the maintenance of the damaged sections. "I appreciate the idea for several reasons. A ship of the line could operate for nearly six times the norm if I'm estimating correctly, with little added to the initial cost of construction, and if we really figure out a way for this device to generate entire series of droids then ships could also maybe even fill their own repair droid quotas and security units."

Now she was getting it and Ayumi looked at her as she was playing with the hologram and the solid state allowed her to touch it, allowed her to run the simulation of checking their work and numbers as she was assembling it according to the working model. "Exactly the possibilities for something like this are near limitless and I admit the cost of such a thing would be big at first but eventually as you said it could cut down repair costs. That would have it paying for itself and making a profit soon enough." She wasn't certain fully about her math but she was certain there was the math somewhere that would support and show that eventually it wouldn't just even out but profit... Assuming everything went well as she was looking over the hologram and held the larger box. "So now that I have you excited, ready to add your engineering expertize to this and get your hands dirty."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

Maybe not near limitless, since they were seemingly limited by the amount of raw material they had access to. The Rendili woman was also of the mind it probably wouldn't pay for itself either, but it would certainly be of value to make up for the cost. Although, considering how successive many of the products they worked on in the past were, even if this was a failure their companies shouldn't be hit too hard. That or if worse came to worse they could try marketing some of the amazing holo technology it seemed that Ayumi had made some headway on by the looks of it. "Well we won't actually be getting dirty, but yes I'm up for this. I have the feeling we might hit some deviations since I think there are simpler results than what we're looking for, but whatever we achieve is sure to be profitable and useful."

Ayumi looked at her and gave a nod while she was looking over the shop while the machines were going. She removed her gloves and the upper section of her bodysuit working in some of the heat with a tanktop on. She looked to Camellia while activating another series of holograms that were more interactive with the emitters all around. "Well between this and the work the holograms we have been working with well we'll be able to run several simulations for the results as it goes forward." She was working on some of the parts they hard while looking over the diagram floating above the desk. She set some of the pieces in there following the direction before looking back up. "There is the parts laid out, lets work on the circuits for it and we'll focus on the power soon."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

To be frank, Camellia was becoming more and more distracted with the holotechnology being displayed more than anything. It made her really want to go back and completely redesign the bridge of the Inexpugnable class. After all, the entire idea behind the Tactical Command Ship was that it had the most sophisticated technology available for its bridge and to give orders to massive fleets. At the time the Inexpugnable was the lead Republic warship, it had run the most advanced computing system and holobridge possible, able to synchronize over sixty three smaller cruisers at once. If they could bring it up to modern standards, and apply the Battle Analysis Computer they had developed to its systems, then they could truly have the most magnificent ship. Sure they had tried with the Will of the Force, but Ayumi said it had been abused, and it was too unique to mass produce. "Alright, but considering we'll need to build around the size of production I almost want to determine its power requirements first."

Ayumi nodded to her on that and moved away from the larger scale converter they were machining. She came to the table and the intact one they had created from cannibalized to the desk. The scanners working on it displayed the power source they had hooked into it. "The power cells for this was half way consumed." Ayumi ejected the cell and was looking at it. "Nothing special about it from the looks seems like a standard one you would put in a speeder." Her hands were looking at some of the things they had going on towards the table while she chaned it out and was working on some of the datapads to monitor it. "We'll need something for it to break down."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

So they already had created some things then, well that gave Camellia a better perspective of what was possible then she supposed. However, she wasn't entirely certain about one thing. After all, for every object there would be different power requirements based on not just size, but complexity as well, which would mean they would have to figure out the power costs for everything before they moved into mass production with the technology since they couldn't be sure of what all they needed. "Are we actually certain this is as cost efficient as we believe then? Considering we need an excess of raw materials to make an object instead of the usual, and the power requirements vary drastically. . . .I think we will need more tests to determine if this device is something we can put into select factories and ships with long term assignments or mass production."

Mass production... Oh that idea appealed to her but she didn't know if such a thing would be possible but she was right. The power requirements would be varied dependign on what they needed to make which to her meant one thing. FInd the hardest thing it could make and look at the power for them. Something complex and rare possibly like if they could convert several metals to a meleedion only appearing on two planets naturally... Might be the biggest thing... of Madilon which for hyperdrives made them smaller and stronger. "We'll have to think of something that would work best and then have something that can handle the strain. I was looking at massive power stresses like madilon shich would allow to make it a little more compacted."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

This was becoming intense now, there were so many implications and logistical concerns now they had to take into account and all because the damned process and machinery were inconsistent and varied to such a degree. Of course the Rendili woman didn't begrudge such amazing technology its faults. After all, a device that could make nearly any other type of product with the right schematics and enough material and power was a producer's dream. It would utterly eliminate manpower for the price of purchasing more raw materials and a better power source. At that point though you would have to compare whether the salary costs of the workers before amounted to the same or less than the cost of improving one's power plant and the added cost of more materials needed than average. . . . . "One almost has to wonder if the galaxy is responsible enough for this technology. Imagine how many would be out of a job because this can remove an already dwindling human element to production. My bets are this will be too problematic and expensive to mass produce though so it shouldn't be a problem there. Imagine if it could be though, you'd likely see dictators trying to get ahold of it to both reduce labor costs while providing more soldiers to their army when people need work and have nowhere else to turn."

"I think that is why the company working to make it doesn't want many to know about it. Bringing you in is because you are one of the best engineers I know and have a straight head when it comes to things." Ayumi was working on it and the single cube they had she was putting some scrap into as the durasteel and some parts of durlanium as the machine was working. The sound of the breakdown was there while the scanners and readouts were coming. The different parts of it showing for a moment as she was working on interfacing it and creating what she wanted. A sheet of metal with the raw material inside as she slowly watched it churn it out for them and Ayumi was holding it up. "Oh it is warm."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

It wasn't anything personal when the Rendili woman had said it, and she knew that Ayumi knew that, but call her a skeptic because Camellia highly doubted they would be able to keep such technology quiet forever. At some point others would catch on and either rush to create their own variant, follow up on the same leads that her friend had to come to the conclusion, or find a way to steal the data from Ayumi so that they could also produce the device. All it would take was one bad employee to make things crumble after all. Still, Camellia knew the other woman would work tirelessly to ensure the best outcome for as long as possible. "Of course, but we won't be around forever. Things will always change and move on, and that's where we need to worry, not just about our time, and even then there are always vulnerabilities."

Ayumi looked at her while she was working and standing there with a small grin on her face while she popped her neck displaying the results while they had been testing it. The power draw from their generators reaching over what most ideas were in her head. "We'll have to just become immortal then won't we? To always make sure things are done in a good way." She continued to watch the screen though while bringing up a wrist computer and displaying her holo to try and add the information into the simulations they were running. "We'll need to work for the energy being used. A better way to recycle it while it is not in use or put it into a sort of sleep mode."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

While immortality was actually something the Rendili woman would greatly desire, she also believed the chances of actually achieving it were next to nil. Maybe if they performed some dark ritual according to rumor, maybe asked the sith how. Actually wasn't there some soul transference power or something? Did it work on other people even? Maybe the original designer of the death star if Camellia remembered obscure history lessons correctly. Regardless, if it were possible, yes, Camellia was certainly up for eternal life. However, that had little bearing on the actual work of the here and now. "A sleep mode shouldn't be too hard. And maybe we can find a way to recycle the energy. There are some reactors out there that use their own power creation process to generate a secondary process that makes more power which then lightens the load overall and reduces cost. . . . of course these are some of the most expensive and small scale power plants though."

Ayumi was looking at her and she walked over silently. Holding her hands up and looking at Camellia as she finally. "Then come on and prey with me." Ayumi stood there and she was working at it before chanting a little. "Praise be to almighty quantum, that which solves all problems when it bounces off the deflector array and that can make everything fine." She looked at Camellia "Now we get naked and run around with quantum power." She said it deadpan watching her and then was laughing while she winked. "Don't be so worries sweetie there are somethings that you can do many things." Ayumi was moving her attention around and watching the power readings for the simulation while she was going for some more parts. "We'll figure it out, maybe a secondary reactor that is able to be used to power it on a ship or station."

[member="Ayumi Pallopides"]

If it wouldn't have spoiled the gag by laughing too early then Camellia would have broken into a hysterical giggling fit sooner. Ayumi was always the one to remind her to relax, either because she was working too hard too long or as a result of her constant worrying, and always knew just what to say to put things back in order. Of course it didn't solve all their problems, but it certainly made things less stressful while they were at it. "Well, considering how well our detour in the turbolift last time seemed to go and the success of the Centurion, I would say we should run around naked with quantum power more often. Though back to reality I agree, a secondary reactor on a larger structure would probably solve all the power problems we could have. Anything other than fuel or power cells at least."
