Red Belt [Jorus Merrill]

An unmarked, inconsiderable YTA-1300 Light Freighter popped out of hyperspace somewhere in the sectoral vicinity of Hagron's World. Really, this was the middle of nowhere, and if Na'Varro had known that Hagron's World even existed, that would have been the closest piece of civilization that he could think of. But no ... he was in space, in a freighter, in an uninhabited system with no name, and he was looking for something. Soler Van, ancient shipwright extraordinaire, had apparently skipped town with starliner schematics that were, quote unquote, "mindblowingly awesome." That had been six weeks ago. Alen had deduced that the venerable Mon Cal had finally croaked, and that the plans were up for grabs. If, of course, he could find Soler Van's ship.

It hadn't been easy. He had been forced to mildly coerce a customs official at Raxus into giving him Van's last hyperspace trajectory, and from there it was all mathematics. Locating the system Van's ship had entered was the easy part ... and as luck would have it, so was finding the ship. Within an hour of entering the system, Alen's light freighter was docked with the ancient shipwright's lifeless corvette, which had clearly been drifting for weeks. And now he was on board. This seemed all too easy ...

Na'Varro could sense something in the Force, but he couldn't pin it down. It was elusive ... danger was afoot. As a precaution, he had taken a heavy blaster pistol with him as he scoured the ship. One couldn't be too careful.

Alen came into a room in the center of the ship. It was octagonal, about thirty feet across at any point of measurement, and completely bare. Just durasteel walls and a durasteel floor, with two entrances and one exit. He'd just come through the left hand one, and he could see the door that must lead to the bridge on his left. Well, he better get moving then.
